Church of the Savior) is a
Protestant group of Christians
who are very dependent on
God! We believe He is great,
good, and holy! Anyone who
has a desire to know Him and
seeks fellowship with others is

From Your Pastor………………………………………………………………..
Dear Members and Friends of HSK,
I want to begin by saying ‘thank you’ to
all who helped in preparing the delicious
beef stew which we ate last week. Satomisan was the main cook and I said a big
thank you to her. And…it is really hot in
the church kitchen at this time of the year
so we will not eat lunch together this
month.
As I write this little note to you, I am
looking forward to giving a good report on
the 2 day children’s ‘camp’ which was held
at the church this past Friday and Saturday.
This is the first time for such a children’s
event and although the number of children
may be few, I believe this is a good thing
for us to do for our children.
Last Monday, Ruth-san and I attended
the wedding of good friends. The guests
were a mixture of people from about 10
nations or more! I quickly had this feeling:
It is a good thing when there is such
variety of Christians who desire to
fellowship. I could not stop looking at the
bride and groom and all the guests! They
m a d e s m i l e t h ro u g h o u t t h e e n t i re
event…"The kingdom of heaven may be
compared to a king who gave a wedding
feast for his son” (Matthew 22:3).
Some dentists say that you should
brush your teeth between between 30
minutes and 1 hour after eating. Experts
say that only a few people should wash
their hair every day. Some people believe
that you should not eat more than 2 eggs a
week.
But I am wondering about the
answer to this question:
When often
should I pray?
King David gave this
expert advice: ‘Seek the LORD and His
strength; seek His face continually’ (Psalm
105:4).
Last week I was thinking of some
friends who are extremely busy. I pray for
them often because I think the hot weather
adds to their tiredness. And when I think
of them I often have these questions in my
mind, ‘Should I begin to do more things?’
‘Is what I am doing making me busy?’
The best answer I have found comes from
the words of Jesus when He replied to
Martha who felt her sister, Mary, was not
helping her prepare a meal for Jesus, ‘only
one thing is necessary’ (Luke 10:42).
I was recently asked if I believed a
woman could be a pastor. History reveals
that God has used women to start
churches,
defend churches, and train
church leaders. I have this opinion: Put a
woman in front of me who can cast out
demons, break the chains of the captives,
and destroy the works of the devil and I
will follow her. ‘Pastor, are you that kind of
pastor?’ No! Not yet! But that’s the kind of
pastor I want to follow!
Listen please! Some pastors dress
well…that’s how people describe them.
Some pastors make intelligent messages…
people like to take notes. Some pastors
are good poets and songwriters…people
like their poems and songs. Some pastors
are excellent organizers and idea makers…
people feel they are being involved! Me?
I’ve decided to become a ‘hell-raiser’ for
the church. The devil has had
enough of the ‘good life’ in
Japan. His vacation should be
finished.

This Saturday Night(8th.)…the Portuguese language class will begin at 7:30 PM
(Room 10) and the English
class will begin at 7:30 PM
(Main Auditorium). There is
no charge for these classes.

teachers are our pastor and Yukio-san!
Konagi Jojie-san…has moved into an
apartment.
He needs a few
things to cook with to include a
microwave oven, an electric fan,
and an iron. If you have one or
more of these items which he
could use, please talk to him or our pastor.

Next Sunday(9th)…there will be a prayer
meeting for the nation of Israel beginning at
1:55 PM.
You may wish to bring your
obento and eat with others
before the meeting begins. On
Sunday night…Daisuke-san
will be the speaker.
If you do not find a parking space…in
front of the church, please
consider parking your car at
the nearby very large parking
area. A map to this area can
be found in the foyer.
As the days get hotter, it will be more
difficult to keep our church
building cool.
(Our building is
not well insulated!) And it will
become warm quickly as more
people come into the room.
Therefore, please do not change
the thermostat without talking to
our pastor first!

friends, Claude and Michelle, can be found
on the church bulletin board. There are
pictures of what God is doing
which you may be interested in
seeing. Thank you for praying
for that nation.
Each week
other information is added to
the bulletin board. Please take and read.

Portuguese edition. And…there
can be other information in both
languages. Please look through
your entire bulletin before
discarding anything. Your pastor

This is the week for…HSK Youth Camp in
Shibukawa…6th, 7th, and 8th. In advance,
thank you for praying
during those days and
thank you for serving. It
will be hot but the youth
will have a great time.
August is the month for someone’s birthday!

Prayer Requests…………………………………………………………………….……..
This Thursday through Saturday is
Youth Camp. Please pray again for the
campers and staff! We need His help!
In retaliation to bombing terrorists in
Syria and Iraq, bombs are exploding in
other nations. When will this killing stop?
Please pray again for the Christians.
Every person attending HSK has
relatives who are not Christians yet.
Please ask the Lord for His help in leading
these relatives to faith in Christ.
Cathy-san has requested prayer for her
sister and brother-in-law. They are both
not in good health. Please pray for Johnsan and Diane-san.
Komatsu-san may not be feeling well
enough to walk up the church stairs. Who
will ask the Lord to give him and Matsuosan new strength in their legs?
Mary Jane-san needs a job and maybe
someone else needs a better job. Please
pray for her and others who need a good
job.
Let’s pray for our missionary in
Cambodia, Joanna-san. She is really busy
and it is really hot there. May the Lord
keep her healthy all the time.
A recent TV report says that even in
Japan human trafficking is a big problem.
Shall we ask the Lord to show us how to
help children and women who are ‘slaves’?
As more needy people enter our
church, we must increase in love for them.
Let’s ask the Lord again to keep us in love
with Him and with others!

Thoughts to ponder…From the book: In The Grip of Grace
By: Max Lucado… Chapter 14 “The Civil War of the Soul”
“When under attack, our tendency is to
question the validity of God’s commands;
we rationalize like I do with the one-way
street. The law is for others, not for me.
I am a good driver. By questioning the
validity of the law, I decrease in my mind
the authority of the law.
For that reason Paul is quick to remind
us, “the law is holy, and the command is
holy and right and good” (Romans 7:12).
The root word for holy is hagios, which
means “different”. God’s commands are
holy because they come from a different
world, a different sphere, a different
perspective.
The “Do Not Enter” sign on a nearby
alley I wish I could go down is from a
different sphere. Our city lawmakers’
thoughts are not like my thoughts. They
are concerned for the public good. I am
concerned with personal convenience.
They want what is best for the city. I want
what is best and quick for me. They don't
create laws for my pleasure; they make
laws for my safety.
The same is true with God. What we
consider shortcuts God sees as disasters.
He doesn't give laws for our pleasure. He
gives them for our protection. In seasons
of struggles we must trust His wisdom, not
ours. He designed the system; He knows
what we need.
But since I am stubborn, I think I do.
My disrespect for a “Do Not Enter” sign
reveals an ugly, selfish side of me. Had I
never seen the law, I would have never
seen just how selfish I am.
Simply stated: We are helpless to battle
sin alone. Aren’t we glad Paul answered
his own question? “I thank God for saving
me through Jesus Christ Our
Lord!” (Romans 7:25).
The same One who saved us first is still
there to save us still”.

Caros membros e amigos da HSK,
Quero começar dizendo "obrigado" a
todos que ajudaram na preparação do
delicioso ensopado de carne que comemos
n a s e m a n a p a s s a d a . S a t o m i fo i a
cozinheira principal e eu disse um grande
obrigado a ela. E ... é realmente quente na
cozinha da igreja nesta época do ano por
isso não vamos almoçar juntos este mês.
Enquanto escrevo esta nota pequena para
você, eu estou ansioso para dar um bom
relatório sobre os dois dias das crianças
'acampamento', que foi realizada na igreja
esta sexta-feira passada e sábado. Esta é a
primeira vez que temos um evento para as
crianças e, embora o número de crianças
seja pouco, creio que esta é uma coisa boa
para fazermos para os nossos filhos.
Segunda-feira, Ruth e eu participamos
de um casamento de uns amigos. Os
hóspedes eram uma mistura de pessoas de
cerca de 10 nações ou mais! Eu
rapidamente tive este sentimento: é uma
coisa boa quando há uma tal variedade de
cristãos que desejam comunhão. Eu não
conseguia parar de olhar para a noiva e o
noivo e todos os convidados! Eles sorriam
durante todo o casamento ... "O reino dos
céus é comparado a um rei que preparou
uma festa de casamento para seu
filho" (Mateus 22: 3).
Alguns dentistas dizem que você deve
escovar os dentes entre 30 minutos e uma
hora depois da refeição. Especialistas dizem
que apenas algumas pessoas devem lavar
os cabelos todos os dias. Algumas pessoas
acreditam que você não deve comer mais
de dois ovos por semana. Mas eu estou
querendo saber sobre a resposta a esta
pergunta: Qual a
freqüência que devo
orar? Rei Davi deu este conselho: "Buscai
ao Senhor e a Sua força; buscar a Sua face
continuamente "(Salmo 105: 4).
Na semana passada eu estava pensando
em alguns amigos que são extremamente
ocupados. Eu oro por eles muitas vezes
porque eu acho que o clima quente
contribui para o cansaço. E quando eu
penso neles muitas vezes eu tenho essas
perguntas em minha mente: "Devo
começar a fazer mais coisas?" "E o que eu
estou fazendo ?" A melhor resposta que eu
encontrei vem das palavras de Jesus
quando Ele respondeu a Marta, que sentiu
sua irmã, Maria, não estava ajudando a
preparar uma refeição para Jesus, "só uma
coisa é necessária" (Lc 10:42).
Estive recentemente perguntou se eu
acreditava que uma mulher pode ser uma
pastora. A história revela que Deus tem
usado as mulheres para iniciar igrejas,
defender igrejas e treinar líderes da igreja.
Eu tenho essa opinião: Coloque uma
mulher na minha frente que pode expulsar
demônios, quebrar as correntes dos
cativos, e destruir as obras do diabo e eu
vou segui-la. "Pastor, você é aquele tipo de
pastor?" Não! Ainda não! Mas esse é o tipo
de pastor que eu quero ser!
Ouça por favor! Alguns pastores vestemse bem ... é como as pessoas descrevem.
Alguns pastores tornar as mensagens
inteligentes ... as pessoas gostam de
anotar. Alguns pastores são bons poetas e
compositores ...
Algumas pessoas com
seus poemas e canções. Alguns pastores
são excelentes organizadores e formadores
de idéias ... as pessoas sentem que estão
sendo envolvidas! Eu? Eu decidi me tornar
um "destruidor do inferno''pela
igreja. O diabo tem tido uma
"vida boa" no Japão. Suas
férias acabaram.
