Currently working as an independent journalist (MTB24338), business
services provider and translator at Clínica Literária Ltda ME.
Prior to this I have been owner of a manufacturing in USA and Australia;
follow in chronological order my background experience from mid 1970´s onward
up to date:
- Computer programmer, subsequently system analyst (1977
/1981)
pioneering automated management systems in Brazil (prior to ERP methodologies)
for industries, stock exchange and State departments; started to translate and
write articles for newspapers in Brazil; in 1982 I migr
ated to marketing, working for
a subsidiary of the Cia Papéis Especiais Pirahy/Souza Cruz Group;
- 1987/1990 Advertising as Account Executive & Director at Denison and
Norton for accounts such as White Martins, Louis Vuitton, Perrier, PanAm, Revista
Manchete, jornal O Dia, among others;
- 1990/1995 Moved to the United States to set up a manufacturing with
Americans and Australians partners, helping them to set up a plant in California and
in Melbourne (components for life style active wear products); ev entually I
became sole owner in Australia and Financial Chief Ex
ecutive for the branch in USA;
I´ve done business in North America, Mexico and Central America, Europe, África
and Australasia; sold my products to brand names such as NIKE, ADIDAS
, Reebok,
Quiksilver, Hot Buttered, Ford, to name few;
- 1995 sold businesses, built a dream boat all by myself and sailed her with
my wife (Helga Leal, social scientist) around Australia (during two years); this

Since 1997 I have been working as an independent journalist, translator,
consulting marketing & adv ertsing, publishing provider and writing books
(www.luispeaze.com ), essays and articles on demand for papers and content for
web sites, through Clínica Literária.
I am the founder of the Instituto Brasil Costal – BRCostal, a not for profit
organization dedicated to build awareness on coastal and marine en
vironment and
to promote seamanship and traditional marine skills. In 2009 I attended the
Wooden Boat Show as the first Brazilian to exhibit a wooden boat in that

lecture in two sessions of the event; On the occasion I was named Consul in Brazil

for the Wooden Boat Foundation and Northwest Maritime Center, USA.
Due to projects done via BRCostal I was awarded with two Honor Medals by
the Brazilian Navy and also got deeply envolved with issues related to the Oil & Gas,
port logistic and oceanography fields.
Among several jobs I have translated From Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest
Hemingway for a major publishing house in Brazil (English into Portuguese), which
translation has been subject of academic thesis in Brazil; I also translated
documents and books for UN agencies and large companies of the United States,
Europe and Asia; in 2009 I was one of the Br azilian journalists invited for the
summit at UN headquarter in Nirobi, for the launching of the Decade of the Water.
My books and articles published at Clinica Literaria´s web site and many
others URLs have been cited in thesis and academic works in a variety of disciplines
such Oceanography, journalism, Portuguese Doctorates, Medicine, Econom y,
Sports and even cited also in Court Houses´s veredicts.
Member of the Hemingway Society (USA); ABI – Brazilian Press Association;
SINTRA – National Syndicate of T ranslators; ABJC – Br azilian Association of
Scientific Journalism and FENAJ – National Federation of Journalists (Br
azil).
I am married (1981) to Helga (social scientist), live in Rio, and I have a son,
Lucas (24). Languages: Portuguese: Mother tongue, English as a second language,
Spanish for reading and comunicate.
