Nach diesen Verben kann ein Objekt + Partizip Präsens stehen. Im Deutschen verwendet man meist einen Infinitiv oder einen Nebensatz mit ‚wie’ oder ‚dass.’ I saw some kids smoking on the street corner. Ich sah einige Kinder an der Straßenecke rauchen. Das Partizip Präsens drückt aus, daß ein Geschehen wahrgenommen wird, das gerade im Verlauf, also noch nicht zu Ende ist. The detective saw the man selling drugs on the street, so he called the police station for help. Wie Du weißt, kann nach Verben der Wahrnehmung auch ein Objekt + Infinitiv stehen (ohne to!). Der Infinitiv drückt dann aus, daß ein Geschehen komplett (von Anfang bis Ende) wahrgenommen wird / wurde. Er wird daher auch für kurze Vorgänge verwendet. I heard the boy scream when he hit his finger with a hammer. Auch eine Reihung von wahrgenommenen Geschehen wird durch den Infinitiv beschrieben (mehrere komplette Handlungen).
