Eines Tages reitet ein rothaariges, sommersprossiges Mädchen mit
blonden, abstehenden Zöpfen auf einem schwarzweiß gepunkteten Pferd in eine kleine idyllische schwedische Stadt und zieht
in das bunteste Haus, die Villa Kunterbunt, ein. Es ist Pippilotta
Rollgardinia Viktualia Pfefferminz Efraimstochter Langstrumpf,
die sich aber ebenso gern einfach als „Pippi“ ansprechen lässt.
In ihrer Begleitung befindet sich außer dem Pony namens „Kleiner Onkel“ noch ein Äffchen, das Pippi mit „Herr Nilsson“ anredet. Schon bald nach ihrem Aufsehen erregenden Einzug in die
Stadt interessiert sich Fräulein Prüsselius für das allein lebende
Kind. Sie hat von Pippi und ihrem ungebundenen Leben gehört
und will unbedingt für eine „ordentliche“ Erziehung des Kindes
sorgen. Stattdessen aber bringt Pippi die ganze Stadt durcheinander … Astrid Lindgrens weltberühmte Figur erscheint hier (gespielt von Inger Nilsson) zum ersten Mal auf der Leinwand. Die
schwedisch-deutsche Co-Produktion war in den Kinos ein Kassenschlager, erreichte Platz vier der deutschen Kino-Charts und hatte eine ganze Serie von „Pippi“-Filmen zur Folge.
One day a red-haired, freckled girl with sticking-out blonde braids
rides into an idyllic little Swedish town on the back of a blackand-white spotted horse and moves into the town’s most colourful house, Villa Villekulla. The girl is called Pippilotta Delicatessan
Windowshade Longstocking but does not mind simply being addressed as ‘Pippi’. Besides the horse, she is also accompanied by
a little monkey whom she calls ‘Mr. Nilsson’ Soon after she moves
in, Miss Prysselius grows interested in the girl. She has heard
about Pippi and her free life and is intent on organizing a ‘proper’ education for the girl. Instead, Pippi succeeds in turning the
whole town topsy-turvy … This is the first cinema appearance of
Astrid Lindgren’s world famous figure (acted here by Inger Nilsson). The Swedish-German co-production was a box office hit in
its day, reaching number four in the German cinema charts, and
brought a whole series of ‘Pippi’ films after it.

Regisseur Olle Hellbom (1925 – 1982) ist als „der“
Astrid-Lindgren-Regisseur in Erinnerung: In 25 Jahren
verfilmte er 21 Mal Bücher der schwedischen Erfolgsautorin. Er inszenierte die Serien über „Kalle Blomquist“,
„Saltkrokan“, „Michel“ und über die „Bullerbü“-Kinder. Vor allem für den Astrid- Lindgren-Film „Die Brüder Löwenherz“ (1977) fand er internationale Anerkennung. Er starb 1982 bei der Verfilmung von „Ronja Räubertochter“.
Director Olle Hellbom (1925 – 1982) is the quintessential director of Astrid Lindgren adaptations. In 25
years he brought 21 of the best-selling author's books
to the big screen, including whole series based on the
tales of Master Detective Kalle Blomquist, Michel and
the Children of Bullerbü. He won particular international acclaim for his Lindgren adaptation “The Brothers Lionheart”. He died in 1982 while shooting “Ronja
Rövarsdotter” (Ronja the Robber's Daughter).
