WORC provides an interesting and needed variety of essential information. The purpose of WORC is to place participants of the ERU training on a more equal and balanced footing in terms of basic knowledge on the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement. WORC is accessible via: http://www.ifrc.org/learning The course consists of 10 learning modules and one test module and is designed for self-study. It covers traditional topics, such as the history of the Movement, the emblems, basic information on the origin and content of the Geneva Conventions, and the structure and function of the ICRC, National Societies and the IFRC. All topics are presented with a high degree of interactivity interspersed with photographic and film material. All modules, except the test sections, carry a professional voice over further increasing the learning ability of the student, who will see and hear the information as well as interact with the various module slides. Each module carries a brief test section at the end to check the learning results. At the end of the entire course, the participant will encounter an "across the board" test module. Once the minimum number of points has been reached, the system will generate a ‘Certificate of Completion’. The certificate will be a requirement for all those who are planning to work at some stage as international programme staff. Participants, who wish to undertake the ERU training and FAF will be required to pass the test at the end of WORC, obtain the required ‘Certificate of Completion’ and submit it to the given E-Mail addresses ([email protected] & [email protected]). Please save and print the PDF certificate also for your own records. The completion of WORC before attending the ERU training is mandatory to all participants. Be aware that the entire online self-study course can take up to 18 hours. So, please start as early as possible. Please create your own account by using your last name and first name and follow the instruction section carefully. You do not have to do the entire course at once. You will be able to log on and log off as often you wish. WORC is a fully online self-study course, in case you have any problems due to internet connection or any further questions, feel free contacting us or Mr Henry Abel ([email protected]). 05.09.2013 Seite 8 von 12 uro WORC (World of Red Cross and Red Crescent) Step by step instructions WORC is a self-learning tool introducing the fundamentals of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement: Fundamental Principles, emblems, volunteering, structure… It is composed of 10 modules plus a final certified online test accessible to people who have completed the course.
