Christmas in the 3rd District &
During Christmas time the streets and cities
in Portugal are illuminated by Christmas
lights. Above you can see the Christmas tree
at the central place in Lisbon.
Christmas in Portugal means spending as
much time as possible with family and
friends. At home the traditional Christmas
menus
are
being
prepared:
Codfish
(bacalhau) with rice and vegetable, also
cooked octopus is served. A rich dessert
buffet is usually served with lots of sweets
made of eggs. A glass of Port wine is a must
before offering and receiving gifts.
Usually during the year the villages are
empty, but during Christmas time the
younger people return to their home villages
and revive the country side of Portugal. Some
of the villages have big fires usually in front
of the church.

artists of the 3rd District in Vienna present an
Advent calendar which can visited during
28.11. – 24.12.2010. In 27 business locations
each day a window will be opened. Behind
each window stands an artist with a picture or
a special piece of art.
Try to visit as many places as possible.
This advent calendar is supported by the
group “Agenda Wien Landstrasse” and is
conducted
in
cooperation
with
the
Agendagruppe “Buntes Weißgerbergrätzel"
and the Agendagruppe "Kunstplatzl3".
During the afternoon of the 13th of December
the 13th picture (made by Mag. Hannelore
Forstreiter) of the advent calendar of the 3rd
district of Vienna will be openend (around
17:00) in our shop. From 16:00 – 19:00 we
will offer a wine and olive oil tasting event.
You are welcome to stop by and enjoy the
afternoon together with us.
