Dear IALE participants,
this document is meant to help you find your way to the 2nd IALE Europe Symposium at the
Kapuzinerhof in Laufen, Germany.
Laufen is a small German town on the river Salzach, which at the same time represents the GermanAustrian border in this area. Across the river from Laufen the Austrian town Oberndorf, the former
“suburbs” of Laufen, is situated. Laufen is only 17km north of Salzburg (Austria).

How to get to the Kapuzinerhof in Laufen (Oberbayern) by public transport

From Munich (airport or central station) to Laufen (Oberbayern)
To use the train in Germany, you need to buy a ticket before you enter the train. You
ou can buy the
tickets online (http://www.bahn.com
http://www.bahn.com) or at a ticket automat or a ticket office at the train stations.
For traveling from Munich to Laufen by train, there are two possibilities:
1. If you only use local and regional trains (RE/RB) and the MVV (Munich public transport)
and if you start your trip after 9am,
9am you can buy the “Bayern Single-Ticket” (21 €) (if you travel
in a group of 2 to 5 people choose the “Bayern Group-Ticket” for 29 €). Both “Bayern

are valid for local and regional train connections in Bavaria, including Salzburg

2. You can use train connections involving faster trains (RJ, EC, IC) and/or use a connection to

The S-Bahn runs roughly every 10 minutes from Munich airport to the Central Station (41min
(S8) / 46min (S1)) and to Munich East Station (31 min)

From Salzburg airport / Salzburg central station to Laufen(Oberbayern)/Oberndorf
(bei Salzburg)
In Salzburg, bus tickets can be purchased in a “Tabaktrafik”, at the ticket automat, or directly from the
bus driver. Train tickets can be purchased online, at the ÖBB Service Desk, or at the ticket automats.
From Salzburg Airport to Salzburg central station:
Take the bus (Obus 2) to “Hauptbahnhof”…

From Salzburg central station to Laufen(Oberbayern)/Oberndorf (bei Salzburg):
There are two possibilities to get from Salzburg Hbf to the Kapuzinerhof in Laufen.
One option is to take the Lokalbahn, which starts at the “Lamprechtshausener Bahnhof” underneath
the busterminal at Salzburg central station. The Lokalbahn takes you to the station in Oberndorf and
from there it takes you around 11 minutes to walk to the Kapuzinerhof where the symposium takes
place.
The other option would be the Regional Express directly to Laufen, but then you need to walk around
20 minutes (see page 5).
Option 1: Salzburg Hbf – Laufen via Oberndorf (Lokalbahn direction “Lamprechtshausen“)
11:00 departure: Salzburg central station (Lokalbahn) – 11:26 arrival: Oberndorf bei Salzburg (0:26)
11:30 departure: Salzburg main station (Lokalbahn) – 11:56 arrival: Oberndorf bei Salzburg (0:26)
12:00 departure: Salzburg main station (Lokalbahn) – 12:26 arrival: Oberndorf bei Salzburg (0:26)
Lokalbahn runs every half hour…
Option 2: Salzburg Hbf – Laufen (RB 27086)
11:06 departure: Salzburg Hbf (central station) – 11:26 arrival: Laufen station (0:20)

From Laufen station/Oberndorf station to the Kapuzinerhof in Laufen
By foot from Oberndorf train station to Kapuzinerhof in Laufen (approx. 11 minutes)
It takes you approx. 11 minutes to walk from Oberndorf train station to the Kapuzinerhof
(Schloßplatz 4). You will cross the Salzach river/German-Austrian border by foot over the
Salzachbridge.
By foot from Laufen train station to Kapuzinerhof in Laufen (approx. 20 minutes)
It takes you approx. 20 minutes to walk from Laufen train station to the Kapuzinerhof. Walk down
Bahnhofstr. You’ll get to the Kapuzinerhof either via Tittmoninger Straße or via Teisendorfer Straße.
