For those who have died: Especially family, friends and parishioners. JULY 3, 2016 FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME LITURGICAL EVENTS Welcome Fr. Roberto Suárez We welcome Fr. Roberto Suárez to our parish. Saint Jude will be Fr. Roberto’s first assignment as a priest. He was ordained as a priest on Saturday, June 25, by Archbishop Gregory in a solemn ceremony at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Fr. Roberto grew up in Colombia. He is the son of Roberto Suarez and Margarita Barbosa and has one brother and two sisters. He attended St. Bonaventure Franciscan University in Bogota, Colombia, and completed a degree in philosophy at the Archdiocesan Seminary of Monterrey, Mexico. He completed his formation at the University of St. Mary of the Lake Mundelein Seminary in Chicago. Fr. Roberto also studied English at Georgia State University. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching movies and playing the guitar. Please join us in the courtyard after the 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 11:30 am and 1:00 pm Masses today to meet him. Boldly go where many have gone before and help pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith! We offer programs for children age 3 through 12th grade. Traditional and Montessori-based classes are available for pre-school and elementary-aged children. We also offer specialized religious education for those who learn differently, and a Special Sacraments Class for those children age 7 or older who have not had the two years of required formation for receiving First Eucharist. Cristiane Iglesias: 404-543-2169 3 DE JULHO, 2016 INFORMAÇÕES EM PORTUGUÊS Catequese do Papa Francisco - Vaticano 22 de Junho de 2016 “Senhor, se queres, podes purificar-me!” (Lc 5, 12): é o pedido que ouvimos um leproso dirigir a Jesus. Este homem não pede somente para ser curado, mas para ser purificado, isso é, curado integralmente, no corpo e no coração. De fato, a lepra era considerada uma forma de maldição de Deus, de impureza profunda. O leproso devia ficar longe de todos; não podia ir ao templo e nem a nenhum serviço divino. Longe de Deus e longe dos homens. Triste vida tinha esse povo! Apesar disso, aquele leproso não se resigna nem à doença nem às disposições que fazem dele um excluído. Para alcançar Jesus, não teve medo de infligir a lei e entrou na cidade – o que não devia fazer, era-lhe vedado – e quando o encontrou “jogou-se diante dele rezando: Senhor, se queres, podes purificarme”. Tudo aquilo que este homem considerado impuro faz e diz é expressão da sua fé! Reconhece o poder de Jesus: está seguro que tenha o poder de curá-lo e que tudo depende da sua vontade. Esta fé é a força que lhe permitiu romper toda convenção e procurar o encontro com Jesus e, ajoelhando-se diante Dele, o chama “Senhor”. A súplica do leproso mostra que quando nos apresentamos a Jesus não é necessário fazer longos discursos. Bastam poucas palavras, mas que sejam acompanhadas da plena confiança na sua onipotência e na sua bondade. Confiar-nos à vontade de Deus significa de fato confiar na sua infinita misericórdia. Também eu farei uma confidência pessoal. À noite, antes de ir pra cama, rezo esta breve oração: “Senhor, se queres, podes purificar-me!”. E rezo cinco “Pai Nosso”, um por cada chaga de Jesus, porque Jesus nos purificou com as chagas. Mas se eu faço isso, vocês também podem fazer, na casa de vocês, e dizer: “Senhor, se queres, podes purificar-me!” e pensar nas chagas de Jesus e rezar um “Pai Nosso” para cada uma delas. Eucharistic Adoration Tuesdays from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm during the school year in the Church. Lost and Found Located in the Ushers Room. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity on the last Thursday of the month. Marriage Preparation Contact a parish priest or deacon at least six months in advance of your planned wedding date for required marriage preparation. Ministry to the Sick Priests or lay ministers bring communion to parishioners on weekdays. Lay ministers visit the home-bound on Sundays.
