WASTE – bachelorthesis Waste is a social problem far over the historical borders of man. The plastic bag is seen as a serious indicator for a careless use of resources and a growth of waste dumps by many nations. Flexibert & Flexiberta is a pair of shopping-crate and shopping-bag. They offer a 1:1 or even 1:2 substitute to plastic bags. Every european uses up to 300 a year. This is the final work of my study and ends with the Bachelor of fine Arts. The documentation will be presented on the stand of Bauhaus-University at Leipzig book fair 2013. Betreuer: Prof. Gerrit Babtist Dipl. Des. Welf Oertel According to current development of modern society, the design-focus was on male clients. More people live alone nowadays what means more men care about themselves and have to do shopping on their own. But shopping-crates are distinguished feminine. RIDER / LADDER FREE PROJECT A ladder is a tool, an instrument and in most cases a non-attended object. People often associate with it the danger of accidents and uncomfortable work. In this project, It was my aim to study the aesthetic weight of this dialectic Object. I wanted to transform it into an uncommon context. exhibited: Cologne, Gallery Pamme Vogelsang 01/2012 Berlin, DMY-Festival 06/2012 Berlin, Bauhaus-Archive 09-10/2012 Ausgestellt u.a.: Köln, Galerie Pamme Vogelsang 01/2012 Berlin, DMY-Festival 06/2012 Berlin, Bauhaus-Archiv 09-10/2012 Betreuer: Prof. Heiko Bartels Dipl. Des. Welf Oertel The concept boosts the ladder with self confidence and an uncommon presence. It grows to be a furniture and integrates itself into the area of living. Projektpartner: Robert Hofmann Betreuer: Prof. Gerrit Babtist Dipl. Des. Laura Straßer FIELD-CANTEEN | T40 The „Feldkantine“ is a concept for diners and basically means „acre-canteen“. It is about regional and seasonal food for snack-bars. The fundamental idea of the „Feldkantine“ is a self-sufficient farm, that is not dependent to world market, governmental supports, price dumping, mass production and unecological farming. The rolling snackbar-trailer is the way to utter the concept to the public. In the guest room, self produced groceries and products are sold. Two people can work in the kitchen to cook daily fresh organic food. This food is served in the Tray T40 that was developped especially for the concept. The aim was to design practical and universal. Tray40 is a simple solution for snackbars and diners. Reduced to the basics, the guest gets his own tray. A bowl for meals and a glass for drinks are integrated. With the tray hooked on a rail, hands are free. Eating is simplified with one tool that combines spoon and fork. This also eases organising the kitchen. Finally, the guest gets a comfortable experience while having a communicative meal. Tray40 was shown on 2012 ambiente-fair in Frankfurt/main. with: Robert Hofmann tutors: Prof. Gerrit Babtist Dipl. The old prison for youths in the age of 14 to 21 is terribly aged and not appropriate for the modern penal system. A new one is in development and needs new interiorconcepts for the inmaterooms. As a symbol of the temporary stay in prison, we installed a cuppoard that takes all the inmates personal pieces. It is made from plywood and is taken like a suitcase when prisoners change their rooms. In a team with three people we developped a concept for the single-inmate-room. We tried to integrate a minimum of comfort - as far as possible. But we had to involve the aspects of security. The interior should possibly be built by prison inmates themselves in their own prison-workshops. So, we created the pieces with simple forms. They are mounted on a steel structure and can be changed easily, when something is broken. Because of the tinyness of the room, we avoided a cupboard for clothes. The inmate stores his clothes in clearly arranged boxes. ALUMINIUM CASTING In cooperation with a company for aluminium casting in Jena, Germany, a connection device for rounded woods and rods was made. For quick prototypes casting alumimium in molds from sand is a cheap option. We were in charge of the design, CAD-datas (Solid Works), joint board, molding, casting, as well as machining. with: Wolfram Thurm Projektpartner: Wolfram Thurm Betreuer: Prof. Martin Kuban Dipl. Des. Helge Oder With this rod-connection-device, it was important to us, to get further than the standard 90° and 45° angle. In steps of 15°, now it is possible to build frameworks, racks, pavillions, silver screens or grooves, etc. by the use of single wooden sticks, tubes or unshaped rods. tutors: Prof. Martin Kuban Dipl. DISHPAN The theme of a subject-course was about the potatoe. It is a forgotten vegetable but a traditional staple food. To speed up preparation for small amounts, the dishpan was designed. In each stage of the process, it was made to model in plaster and porcelain. It is especially designed for small households. It makes cleaning easier and faster to motivate people in cooking instead using convinience food. In cooperation with the trend research bureau “z-punkt” our workgroup developed some futuristic scenarios for the year 2050. the stripes and dragées. It shall dominate the lifestyle-market. Our consumer is aware of fancy products that underline his own style. He is pro-heatlth and pro-sustainable. In a team with four people, we created the concept of a chewing gum named HaoChu. Keeping in mind the decreasing availability of raw materials in future, complex forms of packaging should be avoided. There is also a problem with non-recycable plastics. But our sugar free and teeth-cleaning Chewing Gum on the base of “chicle” and “mastix” gets decomposed quite fast after use. The packaging is made from biological plastics that gets decomposed by the influence of water. This is also glued together with water. The Chewing Gum shall set itself apart from The Chewing Gum will be available in clubs as well as at the dentist. The product is a bridge between health and lifestyle. During the project, it was the aim to transform the ornament into todays appearance. Modern machines are supporting designers during the process. Now, modern machines should also support the production. T-Jack is a power-socket that can hang from the ceiling but is also attractive on the table or floor. It is a distribution board with the form of the serif-font Copperplate Gothic 33. The idea is adapted from pipeworks. My design is arguing the problem with energy supplies and the amount of cables and electric lines. Mostly, this appearance of ugly electricity is accepted or ignored, at least. The model was shown during a design exhibition in Neunkirchen and printed in the catalogue in 2011. Betreuer: Prof. Wolfgang Sattler; Dipl. Des. Daniel Wessolek tutors: Prof. Wolfgang Sattler Dipl. FOR BAGS Before my studies, I already started to do experiments with recycled materials. I developed a fascination for collecting seatbelts from junkyards, leather from old furniture and awning-canvas from firms and building lots. As target group, we focus on the curious city slicker, who is open minded for people, quality and has a good condition in fashion and taste in accessories. With a simple style in cuts and materials, we try to hit the goal of best functionality. With my first sewing machine I tried to construct bags. Inbetween, two models are finished and ready for production. Some more are ready in model status and there are lots of ideas for accessories that are tested at friends as prototype models. The aim of the label is unisex and out of the seasons. Since 2011, I try to develop and run Magazijn with a partner. Inside of the university I founded an experimental sewing workshop with four other students. Weekly, we help students with their projects as tutors and advisor. www.magazijn.de website: kilograd/Hamburg — photography: Dennis Arnold, Martina Chamrad, — logo: Peter Stahmer, kilograd/Hamburg — MAGAZN — logotypo: Hopfen, Martin Borst, avoidredarrows — — meanwhile, we buy our leather from sustainable sources and work close with local tailors — every bag is unique by the indiviual work of the craftsmen, combined with a variety of closers that come from different car-brands and models — — Magazijn-Shopper — refers to a standard paper-bag with comfortable long handles and inner zipping-purse — 85 485 MAGAZIJN MANS’ PURSE — small wallet — leather 0.7-0.9mm 85 105 200 kontinuierlich continuous divers FOTOGRAFIE Im Rahmen bestehender Projekte, auf Reisen und zur Veranschaulichung ist für mich das Medium der Fotografie kommunikatives Werkzeug und Hilfsmittel gleichermaßen.
