Most recent:
I have been one of the four people selected in Brazil, by CGI.BR – Comitê Gestor da Internet no Brasil
( Brazilian Internet Steering Committee) to recieve a scholarship to go to the 7th IGF – Internet Governance
Forum that took place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 6-9 November 2012. This is because of my FOSS activism.
Open Data:
I have been responsible by all the open data published by João Pessoa prefecture on the last six months.
Define how data will be published and make it done through Internet is my responsibility, and it is done on this
web site: http://transparencia.joaopessoa.pb.gov.br .
I've done a lot of meetings with the government staff to make them understand the importance of
publish data under open formats and to make it easier to anyone to process and understand such information. On
the other hand I've developed a computer program to receive data by email messages, convert it to open formats
and fill a database, making it easy to any prefecture employee to collaborate with the open data process.
Free Software: 17 years.
Distributions: Conectiva, Red-Hat, Slcakware, Debian, Kubuntu and Ubuntu.

VI. SKILLS
Computing
I'm working with information technology in the last twenty four years. In all this time I learned about
almost all areas, as hardware, operating systems, applications, development and the last ten years I've been
absolutely focused in Free Software and it's “flavors”.
I gave a lot of speeches in a lot of conferences talking about all the benefits of the Bazaar developing
model, open source, Free Software, Open Document Formats, Open Data and the importance to bring free - as in
freedom – and transparent access to technology. In this years I have not only talked about it, but I have
developed FOSS software, wrote articles, did translations and coordinated conferences to make easier to people
to use and understand Free Software.
My personal project, KyaPanel, for example: I started it in 2004, and it have thousands of downloads
and it is used in a lot of companies and governments around the world. So, do Apache, Postfix, Courier,
OpenLDAP, Samba, Nagios, VSFTP, HeartBeat, DRBD, PostgreSQL, MySQL, PHP and Shell Script is the base
of by knowledge.

Communication
I've developed strong communication skills as a teacher - for twelve years -, speaker in many
conferences around the world and as author of many articles and two books.
Leadership
I'm G/LUG-PB – Gnu/Linux Users Group of Paraíba founder – in 2000 - and main coordinator of all
ENSOL – Free Software Meeting of Paraíba editions. Beside that I'm a FOSS developer and evangelist. On all
this tasks I've must coordinate a lot of people to work together, deal with sponsors, suppliers, developers,
attendees and public in general. So I developed strong leadership, management and communication skills.
