I would not have managed to get things done without your precious
help. Thanks for helping me see the light. Just being there and caring really inspired me. I am on a low sodium diet and my doctor is tickled
pink with my lower blood pressure and that my ankles are not swollen anymore. Meals on Wheels brings me my low sodium food and helps me
stay healthy. It would be impossible for me to stay in this home without this meal program. The meals are good with nutritional value. I love the
daily face-to-face contact. Because I’m receiving backpacks full of school supplies, I’m able to purchase school clothes for my children. Thank you for

In the past year, we have experienced an increased in demand for our services and an increased demand for measurable and meaningful results. This year, Scott Carver Dakota CAP

Head Start gave me the opportunity to get my
child an education, while supporting me in finding a job
and bettering myself. Head Start changed my life.
Our family was heading in a bad direction and Head Start
helped get us back on track. Dad – We had our backs
against the wall and didn’t know where to start with

A PROVEN MODEL THAT TRANFROMS LIVES
CAP is a private nonprofit organization serving individuals and families in Scott, Carver
and Dakota counties. We help individuals and families create goal plans for increased
self-reliance. We address strengths and barriers and create a goal plan for increased selfreliance. Organized in 1965, CAP various programs brings light into the live of those
who live in the shadows of our community. Our program offers individuals and families
the help needed to get back on their feet now, and the tools and resources to be selfsufficient for the road ahead.

VOLUNTEERS INSPIRE HOPE
From the 80 year-old grandmother who sorts clothing for our Thrift store every Tuesday
morning for the last 30 years to the corporate executive who delivers meals to seniors.
CAP attracts the best — and most loyal volunteers.
CHORE volunteers help with indoor and outdoor home
maintenance for older adults so they can continue to live
independently in their own homes.
Senior Nutrition volunteers help provide hot meals to
seniors by volunteering as Meals on Wheels drivers or at
congregate dining sites.
Crisis Nursery volunteers are licensed child care and foster
care providers who provide short-term care for children
whose families are working through a crisis.
Thrift Shop volunteers accept, sort, and display donations
in our Thrift Store located at our Shakopee office location.
Food Support Outreach volunteers help individuals complete
applications for the food support program that helps lowincome families, seniors, and individuals get the food they
need for sound nutrition and well-balanced meals.
Head Start volunteers share their time and skills with our
Head Start preschool program, help with field trips and
classroom activities, share stories about their family
heritage, or teach children about their job or hobby.
Food Shelf volunteers welcome and assist individuals and
families, stock shelves, unload trucks, keep food shelf clean
and remove expired products.
Our Board of Directors is comprised of men and women
who are leaders at work and their communities. They fulfill
a variety of important operations, maintaining legal and
ethical standards, providing strategic direction and ensuring
accountability to CAP families, donors and communities
we serve.
