Operating Instructions TK-101 Operating Instructions TK-101 Important notes, make sure to follow The prerequisites for a perfect and safe operation of the R/I converter are proper transport, storage and mounting, professional installation and startup, operation as intended and careful maintenance. These tasks may be performed only by persons possessing the respective necessary technical knowledge and qualifications. The relevant safety regulations for the construction and operation of electrical plants in hazardous areas should be observed. The construction regulations in accordance with EN 60079-14 for electrical plants in hazardous areas are particularly referred to here. In addition, the accompanying EC design examination certificate TUV 02 ATEX 1795 X is to be observed. In the event that information contained in these instructions should prove to be insufficient in any way, please contact the manufacturer. Electrical connection All electrical connections are to be made in a dead-voltage condition. In the event that the device is operated in a hazardous area, the connection may only be made to certified intrinsically safe circuits of ignition protection type Ex ia IIC/IIB. The highest permitted ambient temperature depending on the temperature class and the max. power input Pi is to be identified in the corresponding table in “TUV 02 ATEX 1795X” attached in the appendix. 1 Function The TK-101 transducer is integrated directly into the connection socket of our continuous filling level probes of the type series TK-30... It converts the resistance signal of the continuous level measuring sensors into a unit current signal (4..20 mA) proportional to the filling level height. In case the connection to the transmitter chain is defective, the signal is displayed with a current value of I > 22 mA (except 100% connection). The supply voltage in the electric circuit of the unit depends on the burden resistance. For more information, refer to the supply voltage range specified in the technical data. For devices equipped with potentiometers: In order to accommodate the various transducers, the full-scale amplitude can be adjusted. In doing so, the measuring length can be reduced down to 75 % by means of the zero-point elevation. The TK-101 transducer always saves the most current measured value. 1.1 Function diagram No. Function/designation Device TK-101 Comments 1 0 % indication Float, bottom position 4 mA) Device provides an output current of approx. 4 mA 2 50 % indication Float, center position (12 mA) Device provides an output current of approx. 12 mA 3 100 % indication Float, top position (20 mA) Device provides an output current of approx. 20 mA Error limit = ±1%; FSO= ±0,2 mA; burden resistance 100 Ω For an inverse display (100% indication = float, bottom position), the connection wires 0% and 100% have to be exchanged. In doing so, the "lower" output current is set to 4 mA and the "upper" output current to 20 mA. Applies only to versions with potentiometers If this setting is to be changed, the "cover" of the housing needs to be removed. A current measuring device with a measuring range of 30 mA is required and must be connected to the current loop. "Zero" offset For this purpose, the resistance sensor must provide a signal, which shall be used as zero position. On the "Zero" potentiometer, the output current can now be set to the required value. "Max" offset For this purpose, the resistance sensor must provide a signal, which shall be used as the maximum signal value. On the "Max" potentiometer, the output current can now be set to the required value. After that, the "Zero offset value" must be checked again and readjusted, if necessary. E.L.B.
