Eine kleine Zeitreise
Drehen wir die Uhr ein wenig zurück: Anfang
des 20. Jahrhunderts wünschte sich Kaiser
Wilhelm II. eine große, repräsentative Halle, um
regelmäßig Turn- und Gesangswettbewerbe zu
veranstalten. Der Münchner Architekt Friedrich
von Thiersch leistete diesem Wunsch sogleich
Folge und schuf ein wahres Meisterwerk – die
Festhalle. Schon bei dem ersten Event, dem
XI. Deutschen Turnerfest 1909, faszinierte der
opulente Bau tausende Besucher.
A journey back through time
Let’s turn back the clock to the 1900s, when
Kaiser Wilhelm II decided he needed a large,
prestigious hall for holding regular gymnastics
tournaments and choral competitions. The
Kaiser’s wish was quickly fulfilled by the Munich
architect Friedrich von Thiersch, who created a
true masterpiece: the Festhalle. Right from the
very start, when the hall was used for the 11th
German Gymnastics Festival in 1909, visitors were
entranced by von Thiersch’s opulent design.

Where ideas become reality
Now, more than 100 years later, the Festhalle
plays host to stars from all over the world. But
it’s much more than just a stage for international
performers. The hall is also a venue for sporting
events, gala dinners, product launches and conferences. Whatever event you’re organising, in
fact, the Festhalle offers you complete flexibility.

Am 19. Mai 1909 eröffnet Kaiser Wilhelm II. feierlich den Kuppelbau –
seinerzeit der größte Europas. Zur „Internationalen Luftfahrtausstellung“ im Juli 1909 kommen 1,5 Mio. Besucher.
A stage for culture and sport – that is what the Festhalle has been
since its inception. On 19 May 1909, Kaiser Wilhelm II inaugurated the
domed structure – at the time the largest in Europe. 1.5 million visitors
came to the International Air Flight Exhibition in July 1909.

A world of space and light
The Festhalle comes into its own as a venue for
headline events such as concerts or shows. It
offers standing room for up to 13,500 people and
is guaranteed to provide a superb atmosphere
for unforgettable events. For a truly stunning
effect, the hall’s imposing glass dome can – at
the touch of a button – be darkened completely,
with special light effects used to create a striking
setting for events such as the International Motor
Show. If necessary, you can also make use of a
variety of adjoining rooms and offices.

ein Gig in der Festhalle für viele dazu. International ist der Veranstaltungsort heiß begehrt.

zu Gast. Für ganz Aktive finden in der Festhalle
Sportevents und das jährliche internationale
Festhallen-Reitturnier statt. Und wer es lieber

world, no tour would be complete without
a gig at the Frankfurt Festhalle. As a venue,
in fact, it’s favoured by both genuine rock
legends and the latest global chart-toppers.
In addition, the hall is also a frequent venue
for sporting events, notably the International
Frankfurt Festhallen Riding Tournament, held
once a year. Comedy fans are also well catered
for at the Frankfurt Festhalle.
