Lacke und Anwendungsbereiche
Coatings, inks and varnish are used with various targets in the printing companies. The following points
show some examples where the usage of MCSSystems is seen in the production.
Lacke und Beschichtungen werden mit unterschiedlichen Zielsetzungen verwendet. Die nachfolgenden
Punkte zeigen Beispiele der Hauptanwendungen, wo
MCS-Systeme zum Einsatz kommen.
Gloss & Quality for UV-Coatings
Glanz & Qualität mit UV-Lacken
UV-coatings are used to reach optimized gloss effects.
MCS-heating systems with double walled stainless
steel tanks adjust the coating regarding the viscosity
and temperature to meet the working range of the
printing stations.
Using MCS-technology enables the customer to work
with highest viscosity coatings of 120 sec. (DIN 4 mm
cup) or even more without changing other parts of his
machine.
Additionally the printing machine can work with a
higher speed, when the coatings are available with
higher temperature - that means with lower viscosity.
Glanzeffekte in optimaler Form sind das Ziel bei UVLackanwendungen. MCS-Heizsysteme mit Doppelwandbehältern temperieren die Lacke so, dass die
Viskositätswerte im Arbeitsbereich der Auftragswerke
liegen.
Mit MCS-Systemen erhält der Anwender die Möglichkeit, hochviskose Lacke mit Startviskositäten von 120
Sekunden und mehr (DIN 4 mm Becher) zu verwenden, ohne sonst am Lackwerk eingreifen zu müssen.
Hinzu kommt, dass die Maschinen mit erwärmten und
damit niedrigviskosen Lacken höhere DruckGeschwindigkeiten erbringen können.
Gold, Silver & Bronze
Gold, Silber & Bronze
Metallized inks bring out optical highlights for the
printed products. With MCS systems those gold, silver
or bronze coatings are kept cool and carefully mixed
by a special stirrer. The ink with its heavy particles will
be homogenous, the printing quality will be constant.
With the cooling function, two targets are seen for the
coating. A consistency over a much longer time is realized by a reduced tendency of evaporation and a permanent return flow of the condensed liquid parts inside
the tank. On the other side the customers notice a reduced or fully eliminated foaming of the coating. Both
points are basic elements to get best quality at the
coating machine.
Metallisierte Lacke erzeugen auf dem Produkt optische Höhepunkte. Mit MCS-Systemen werden Gold-,
Silber- und Bronzefarben gekühlt und schonend mit
einem Spezialrührwerk durchmischt, somit wird ein
Absetzen der Partikel verhindert und die Druckqualität
konstant gehalten.
Durch die Kühlung werden zwei Ziele erreicht. Die
Lacke haben eine bessere Langzeitstabilität durch die
verringerte Verdunstungsrate und Rückführung der
Kondensniederschläge im Behälter, zum anderen wird
eine stark verringerte, teilweise völlig beseitigte
Schaumbildung vermerkt. Beides bedeutet wieder eine
verbesserte Lackier-Qualität.
Stability for Water-Dispersions
Stabilität für Dispersions-Lacke
Dispersion coatings are normally easy to handle and
to use, simple tanks and pumps will do a good job.
But also here problems can be seen, if the coating
temperature gets to warm, the surface and characteristics of the coated product will not meet the wishes
and targets of the end-customer.
MCS cooling systems can help here as well to see a
better consistency and a reduced foaming activity of
the coating in the tanks - at the machines.
Dispersionslacke sind oft in der Anwendung unkritisch,
einfache Behälter und Pumpen werden verwendet.
Es kommt aber auch mitunter zu Problemen, wenn
diese Lacke sich erwärmen, die Oberfläche und Ihre
Eigenschaften auf dem lackierten Produkt weichen
dann von den gewünschten Ergebnissen ab.
Auch hier schaffen MCS-Kühlsysteme Abhilfe durch
die bessere Langzeitstabilität und teilweise stark reduzierte Schaumbildung.
Temperature-aqueous-coatings for better gloss
Temperierte Dispersionslacke, erhöhter Glanz
Increased and better gloss effects with water dispersions can be reached by using modern, high pigmented and high viscosity coatings.
Special heating system will heat up to a basic temperature of the coating, the fully automatic opti-color
viscosity control will permanently measure the viscosity and add needed water or water mixture any time to
get a constant coating quality.
For longer print jobs the systems are equipped with an
automatic level control and refill.
Besserer Glanz mit Wasser-Dispersionslacken kann
erreicht werden, wenn hoch pigmentierte und viskose
Lacke zum Einsatz kommen.
Spezielle MCS-Heizsystemen stabilisieren die Lacktemperatur auf den gewünschten hohen Wert und
messen und regeln die Viskosität. Wasser bzw. ein
entsprechendes Wasser-Gemisch wird automatisch
bei Bedarf zugeführt.
Für Langzeit-Druckaufträge ist eine automatische
Nachdosierung vorhanden.

Most printing and coating machines
have ready to use pumps, the connection to MCS systems is easy with hose
and Snaplock couplings.

But if new pumps or additional pumps
(for example to support quick coating

machines.

For complete MCS systems there is the
option to integrate pumps and the pump
control into the systems, this is for example mostly chosen along with cabinet
systems.

If by our standard recommendation there
are mobile MCS systems used, then it is
a logical decision to take also mobile
pump units like the MCS 100-PU.

Water and solvent based coatings change the viscosity by
permanent evaporation of these components. The result
would be a changing film thickness, which means a changing
and lower coating quality on the cores.

opti-color viscosity controls measure during the working
process the effective viscosity values. In case of even small
increases of the viscosity, the necessary amount of
water/solvent is added automatically.
This is done with the well proven OBD
sensors and the Multi VC control boxes.
The values are shown in seconds based on
test cups or can be even programmed to be
equal to thickness for certain applications
and coatings.
Active foam reduction is
ensured by the ORV stirrers
with increased impellers and
gear unit for variable speed
settings. This will also uniform
the volume regarding viscosity
and temperature.
Automatic level control is optionally available e.g. with
ultrasonic sensors. Dosing valves or refill pumps can be
actived directly. The refill line is optionally equipped with a
efficient volume measurement to calculate the consumption
rates and to indicate the production data on the CVC display.
Temperature controls Finally the heating and cooling function
can be chosen as an extra for the tanks. The tanks then will
be double walled, a heater element is integrated into the
double bottom of the tank and for cooling we recommend a
separate cooling unit for water circulation.
oc-4000 Software / MCS and CVC Systems
Temperature Control for Coating and Machine
The oc-4000 Software is offering the
possibility to connect up to 12 VC
viscosity controllers to a network and a
central PC-System. Data recording,
displays and changes parameters can
be done via this solution.
MCS units are integrated solutions e.g. on
mobile racks including the day tanks, full
temperature and level control, stirrer and
optionally the opti-color viscosity systems.
Flexible and ready to use - all you might
need.
The CVC is the final step fully control of all
parameters for the coatings but also more.
The special software is calculating during
the production the actual consumption from
the coating tanks. So in can be used as a
quality control instrument during the running
process to give data, which are normally
only available by offline checks. Constant
quality is clearly linked to constant
consumption rates, CVC is offering this
information to the demanding customer.
Temperature controls can be
integrated by the usage of double
walled tank design or with the help
of inline-heat-exchanger oc-S3.
With these elements even already
existing installations can be
upgraded in a simple way.
Inline-Heat-Exchanger oc-S3
In double walled tanks the heating elements are installed in
the bottom, the transfer is done indirectly via water filling in
bottom and walls. Cooling unts are connected externally to
circulate chilled water through the tank in case temperature
of the coating is higher than the wanted setpoint.
Chiller / Cooling units are available for coating as well as with
increased capacities for the connection to inker and other
machine parts, where controlled, cool water is necessary.
18 kW cooling rates can be
offered e.g. to supply 8 inker/
stations from one central position.
Other sizes and rates are
available on request. Help with
individual calculations is offered
of course by opti-color.

ICC stands for an active cooling system with individual zone
controls (e.g. at each Inker or gear-block). The temperature
of the circulating water at those elements are measured
directly in order to adjust a corresponding dosing valve to
meet the real demand of each station. ICT includes also a
heating function for a full temperature control.

The centrepiece of the Level-Protector is a float system incorporating pneumatic signals and connections able to operate a dosing valve on minimum level - til the wanted maximum in the tank is reached again.

TC temperature control sets offer an easy to use solution
e.g. for opti-color heating or cooling systems with double
walled tanks or heat-exchanger.
Control boxes with direct display of actual temperature and
variable setpoints with optional 2 or 3 point controls - or PID
functions are available. Optionally we can supply units for
installation in existing cabinets on site. TC sample items to
create complete solutions:
