de planteur à proximité de la plage.

Noire, Le Chamarel Restaurant a une vue imprenable
sur la côte ouest de l’île. Du Morne à la baie de Rivière
Noire, les déclinaisons de vert des forêts denses, habitat
des singes, cerfs et oiseaux dont certaines espèces
rares, forment un contraste saisissant avec les variantes

Organic elements are at the heart of Royal Palm’s Spa by
Clarins. Natural materials including lava stone, granite,

In’am is inextricably linked to Mauritius, where it
designs and manufactures cashmere creations with the
expertise it has acquired over more than 30 years. The
five In’am boutiques enjoy exclusive locations on the
island and were revamped in 2008 to offer customers a
modern, poetic environment.

The Karl Keiser group specialises in the manufacture
and distribution of designer label menswear brands
such as Karl Kaiser and Niels. The group has been

Historic Marine has been manufacturing model boats
on Mauritius since 1982. We manufacture our models

Situé à Port-Louis sur le front de mer du Caudan, ce
musée relate l’histoire de l’île à travers un parcours interactif qui mêle cartes anciennes de navigation, extraits
de journaux de bord et plans d’époque de la capitale
mauricienne. Cependant, la pièce maîtresse du musée
est constituée par le fameux Blue Penny, ce timbre qui
a inauguré les débuts de la poste mauricienne en 1847.
Located at Caudan waterfront in Port-Louis, the Blue
Penny Museum relates the island’s history through
an interactive journey incorporating ancient navigation
charts, extracts of log books and period maps of
the Mauritian capital. However the centrepiece of the
collection is the famous Blue Penny stamp which
marks the birth of the Mauritian Post Office in 1847.

L’AVENTURE DU SUCRE
« Toute l’histoire de Maurice au coeur d’une usine
à sucre », c’est le challenge relevé par ce musée de
Pamplemousses inauguré en 2002. Superbe musée,
très documenté et très bien présenté, on découvre
étape par étape la fabrication du sucre et son utilisation
commerciale. Dégustation de sucre et de rhum au bout
du parcours avec une boutique et un restaurant.
“The complete history of Mauritius in the heart of a sugar
factory” was the challenge this museum in Pamplemousses
set itself. The excellent, well-documented museum
opened in 2002 and its first class displays take you on
a journey, stage-by-stage, through the manufacture of
sugar and its commercial uses. The tour ends with a
sugar and rum tasting and the museum also has a shop
and restaurant.

Musée de la Photographie
L’histoire de la photographie à Maurice remonte aux
origines de l’invention du premier appareil photo. Un
des premiers acquéreurs dans la semaine même où les
appareils furent mis en vente à Paris en 1839 était un
Mauricien : Ferdinand Wörhnitz. Le plus prestigieux et
le plus rare des objectifs fabriqués par Charles Chevalier
pour Jacques Daguerre en 1839 constitue une des
fiertés de l’établissement.
The history of photography on Mauritius goes right back
to the invention of the first camera. In the very week
cameras first went on sale in Paris in 1839, one was
snapped up by a Mauritian, Ferdinand Wörhnitz. The
most prestigious and rare lens made by Charles Chevalier
for Jacques Daguerre in 1839 takes pride of place in the
museum.
Die Geschichte der Fotografie auf Mauritius beginnt in
der Zeit der Erfindung des ersten Fotoapparats. Einer der

située le long de la côte
accidentée du district de
Savanne. Le Jardin Telfair
constitue l’un des lieux
remarquables de cette
station : surplombant la
mer, il a été ainsi baptisé
en hommage au Dr Charles
Telfair.
Les Tours Martello sont
des vestiges de la rivalité
entre les anciennes
puissances coloniales et
témoignent de l’ingéniosité
de l’homme. Elles
constituent une pierre
angulaire de l’histoire
de l’île puisqu’elles
symbolisent à la fois la fin
de l’esclavage et le début
de l’immigration indienne.

du village de Case Noyale
aux terres colorées de
Chamarel : un paysage
