Die beiden Hauptspots auf Lanzarote, Famara und Playa Honda, gehören sicher zu
den anspruchsvolleren Spots auf den Kanaren. Playa Honda liegt direkt vor dem
Flughafen und die Kitezone befindet sich hinter einer gelben Bojenline am Strand.
In Famara ist die Kitezone am Ende einer Bucht und nur über eine S­ chotterpiste
erreichbar. Für Anfänger und Flachwasserkiter sind beide Spots eher nicht
geeignet, da bis zu 3 Meter hohe Wellen und ein Shortbreak das Einsteigen und
Starten erschweren. Die Windrichtung variiert an beiden Spots und bietet sowohl
Sideshore- wie Onshore-Bedingungen. Für geübte und abenteuerlustige Kiter ist
Lanzarote jedoch ein Geheimtipp. ///
The two main spots on Lanzarote, Famara and Playa Honda, are certainly amongst
the more demanding spots in the Canaries. Playa Honda lies directly in front of the
island’s airport, and the kite zone is located behind a yellow line of buoys on the
beach. In Famara, meanwhile, the kite zone is at the end of a bay, and can only be
reached via an unpaved road. Neither spot is really suitable for beginners or flat
water kiters, since waves up to 3 metres high and a shortbreak make getting there
and into the air difficult for less experienced kiters. The wind direction varies at
both spots, from sideshore to onshore conditions. For experienced and adventurous
kiters, Lanzarote is certainly an insider tip.
Fuerteventura
Hurghada
Ägypten zählt sicher zu den beliebtesten und meistbesuchten Kite-Revieren weltweit. Egal ob Anfänger oder Profi, in und um Hurghada gibt es sehr viele tolle Spots
wie Safaga, Soma Bay, Marsa Alam. Stehtiefes Wasser, konstanter Wind, Sonne,
freundliche Menschen, Top-Service, das sind nur einige Attribute, die Ägypten
auszeichnen. Ein besonderer Ort ist El Gouna, ca. 20 km nördlich von Hurghada.
El Gouna, die „Lagunenstadt“, besticht durch viele kleine Hotels, Restaurants, Bars,
Clubs und vor allem top ausgestattete Kiteschulen, die den Ort einzigartig machen.
Soma Bay und Safaga sind vom Flughafen Hurghada in 40 Minuten zu erreichen
und bieten ebenfalls perfekte Kitebedingungen für Anfänger und Profis. ///
Egypt is certainly amongst the most popular and most visited kiting areas in the
world. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there are a huge number of great spots
in and around Hurghada, such as Safaga, Soma Bay and Marsa Alam. Water shallow
enough to stand in, steady wind, sun, friendly people and great service are just some
of the many qualities Egypt has to offer. One very special spot is El Gouna, around
20 km north of Hurghada. El Gouna – the ‘lagoon town’ – will win you over with its
numerous small hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and above all the perfectly equipped

Der Süden Fuerteventuras bietet an der Küste von Sotavento auf einem ca. 5 km
langen, feinsandigen Strandabschnitt einzigartige Kitesurfbedingungen. Starker
Wind, mittlere Wellen und Flachwasser bilden ideale Bedingungen für Freestyler,
Speeder und Wavekiter. Der Wind bläst meistens schräg ablandig und die weiten
Sandstrände machen das Starten des Kite dort sehr einfach. Im Norden Fuerte­
venturas herrschen ebenfalls perfekte Kitebedingungen. Am Flag Beach weht der
Wind meist sideshore und wird über den Tag stärker. Eine ca. 3 km lange Kitesurf­
zone sorgt für sehr gute Lernbedingungen und genügend Platz im Wasser. ///
The south of Fuerteventura offers ideal kite surfing conditions on the coast at Sotavento, where there’s a sandy stretch of beach around 5 km in length. Strong wind,
medium-sized waves and flat water here provide perfect conditions for freestylers,
speeders and wavekiters. The wind usually blows side-offshore, and the wide sandy
beaches make it very easy to get your kite airborne. The north of Fuerteventura
is also blessed with perfect kite conditions; on Flag Beach, the wind mostly blows
sideshore, growing in intensity as the day goes on. A kite surf zone some 3 km in
length ensures very good learning conditions and sufficient space in the water.
Teneriffa
Auf Teneriffa, der größten Kanarischen Insel, bläst der Wind am konstantesten
und stärksten in El Medano im Südosten der Insel. Dort gibt es glatten, fein­
körnigen Sandstrand. Ganzjährig perfekte klimatische Bedingungen und ein auf
­Teneriffa
einzigartiger Flachwasserspot in La Tejita bieten für jede Könnerstufe
etwas. Der Wind bläst in der Regel schräg auflandig, in Tejita schräg ablandig. Egal
ob Flachwasser oder Welle, Teneriffa ist bekannt für seine einzigartigen Locations
und über 300 Windtage im Jahr. ///
On Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, the wind is at its steadiest and
strongest in the south-east of the island, in El Medano, which is blessed with
smooth, sandy beaches. At La Tejita, perfect climatic conditions year-round and a
flat water spot – unique for Tenerife – offer something for every level of ability. As
a rule, the wind blows sideshore, and at Tejita it‘s side-offshore. From flat water to
waves, Tenerife is renowned for its unique locations and for offering over 300 days
of great wind a year.
An der Punta am Ende der Dünen von Maspalomas bzw. Playa del Ingles gibt
es einen ausgewiesenen Kitebeach. Dieser bietet viel Platz und einen schönen
Sandstrand. An der Ostküste von Cran Canaria sind weitere coole Spots, jedoch sind
diese eher Könnern vorbehalten, da sie sehr steinig sind. Ein Mietwagen ist von
Vorteil, da vor allem im Winter der Wind aus allen Richtungen kommen kann und
man flexibel sein muss. Ähnlich wie Lanzarote bietet Cran Canaria für geübte und
abenteuerlustige Kiter alles, was das Herz begehrt. ///
At the punta at the end of the dunes of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles, there is
a designated kite beach. This offers plenty of room and a beautiful sandy beach.
Although there are other cool spots on the east coast of Gran Canaria, these are
really only suited to experienced kiters, as the beaches are very stony. A rental car
helps, since, especially in the winter, the wind can come from all directions and you
have to be mobile. Like Lanzarote, Gran Canaria offers everything the heart desires
for more practiced, adventurous kiters.
