The arranging of addresses of spare rooms and apartments by phone or mail is not possible. You must bring with you:
identity card/passport
student-card (concerning non restricted subjects, a certificate by the registering office (Immatrikulationsamt)
about a university place for the following semester or a certificate of admission of a Hanoverian university,
a fee of 10,00 €
The receipt you will get entitles you for three month to take a look at the addresses of housing offers that are on hand at
the Student Administration. It is your task to contact the landlords and find an accommodation this way.

2. Health insurance:
Every student of HMT has to have a valid health insurance. You should take out a medical insurance for
abroad (Auslandskrankenversicherung). The insurance certificate must be shown to a state health insurance in
Germany. There you receive a health insurance card which is to be taken to the doctor in case of an illness.
3. Semester contribution:
Students of the HMT don´t have to pay tuition fees. There is, however, an amount of about for one Semester
(WS 06/07)ca. 149,20 € for the GVH-card (public transport Hannover City and Niedersachsen) and the
students administration´s work (cafeteria, halls of residence…). This contribution has to be paid to the following
account right after the arrival in Hannover:

Showing the receipt at the Erasmus office Room (nb. 122 of the HMT) you receive your student card.

5. Organizational matters:
Hours of business at HMT:
The HMT (Emmichplatz) is opened from 7 am to 10 pm during the week and from 9 am to 4 pm on weekends.
(time-changing is possible)
Lecture timetable:
The lecture timetable (Vorlesungsverzeichnis) contains all the lectures, classes and seminars for the
respective course of studies as well as important addresses, hours of business and contact persons. It´ s
available for 1,50 € at the students office Room 001, Hindenburgstr.2-4
Library:
The HMT´s library is located on the 3rd floor. Being registered once you can borrow books, written music and
magazines there. You can listen to the CDs and records and make use of the computers with free internet
access.
Hours of business (during the semester):
Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 5 pm
Friday:
9 am – 4 pm
Practising rooms:
There are practising rooms in the „Z-floor“ and the „Schnecke“ (spiralcase above the cafeteria). All of them
contain a piano.
There is a list for each of the „Z-floor“ rooms which you can sign in for half an hour before you want to
practise.
For the “Schnecke” rooms there is a registration in room 202 every Tuesday morning at 7 am. You can reserve
rooms for max. four hours a day for the whole following week.
Besides, you can try to get a key to a teacher´s room. You need a special paper undersigned by the teacher.
you let your student card to the porter, you might get a free room.
Canteen:
The canteen is open from 8 or 9 am to 5 pm. From 9 am to 5 pm you can buy food and drinks there. Lunch is
offered from 11.30 to 2 pm. You can buy in cash or by chip card (obtainable in the canteen). A coffee
dispenser in the canteen and a drink machine in the main foyer are available the whole day.
Smoking is not allowed inside the entire building!
