Die ceramitec öffnet ihre Pforten auf dem Gelände
der Neuen Messe München. Während eines Messebesuches kann nur ein Teil der annähernd 750 Aussteller aus 40 Ländern besucht werden und sicher
auch nicht alle Aussteller für den grobkeramischen
Bereich. Im letzten Teil der traditionellen ceramitecVorschau stellt die Zi Ziegelindustrie International
weitere Zulieferer der Grobkeramikbranche vor.
The ceramitec opens its doors at the New Munich
Trade Fair Centre. During a visit to the Trade Fair
only a part of the almost 750 exhibitors from 40
countries can be visited – and certainly not even all
exhibitors for the heavy clay sector. In the last part
of the traditional ceramitec preview, Zi Brick and
Tile Industry International presents further suppliers
to the heavy clay industry.

Der Verband der italienischen Keramikmaschinenbauer Acimac organisiert auf der ceramitec 2003 eine kollektive Präsentation: „TechGate“. Hier versammeln sich 56 Unternehmen
auf einer Fläche von 2700 m2.
„TechGate“ empfindet eine typische italienische Piazza nach
und ist ein idealer Standort für Treffen mit Kunden und Besuchern – komplett mit Gaststättenbereichen, fünf InternetAnschlüssen und wichtigen Messedienstleistungen.
Das Logo „TechGate, führend in Keramiktechnologie“ wurde
gewählt, um die Rolle der italienischen Keramikmaschinenhersteller als Tor zur fortschrittlichsten Technologie für die Branche hervorzuheben. Dies wird nicht nur auf der ceramitec
2003 ausgestellt, sondern auch als charakteristisches Markenzeichen für alle zukünftigen, von Acimac organisierten
Gemeinschaftspräsentationen auf ausländischen Messen verwendet. Als Nächstes steht die italienische Kollektivteilnahme
auf der Cevisama 2004 in Valencia (Spanien) an, wo das gleiche Exponat wie auf der ceramitec benutzt wird.
Folgende italienische Unternehmen präsentieren sich auf dem
Gemeinschaftsstand „TechGate“:
The Italian Ceramic Plant and Machinery Manufacturers’
Association, Acimac, is organising a collective presentation,
“TechGate”, assembling 56 companies on an area of
2700 m2.
“TechGate” is designed to recreate a typical Italian piazza,
and it is the perfect place for exhibitors to meet customers
and visitors, being complete with catering areas, five internet
points and a full range of trade show services.
The logo “TechGate, Leader of ceramic technology” was chosen to emphasize the role of the Italian ceramic machinery
manufacturers as a gateway to the most advanced technology for the sector. This will not only feature at the ceramitec
2003 but will also be used as a characteristic trademark for all
future collective participations organized by Acimac at trade
shows abroad. The first of these will be the Italian collective at
Cevisama 2004 in Valencia (Spain), which will use the same
exhibit as at the ceramitec.

Die Beschichtungsmaschine Surface Dynamic System wurde
in Edelstahlausführung und nach den europäischen CE-Qualitätsnormen konstruiert. Sie besteht aus folgenden Komponenten:
n Hochpräzisions-Beschichtungskopf mit dynamischem Druckbetrieb
n hydraulisch geregelte Produktzufuhr
n Glasurbehälter mit Anti-Blasen-System
Das Verfahren stellt sicher, dass das Produkt innerhalb der
dynamischen Auftragkammer ständig in Suspension und in
Bewegung gehalten wird.
The Surface Dynamic System is a coating machine constructed in stainless steel throughout, designed to the European CE
quality standards. It comprises the following components:
n High-precision coating head with dynamic pressure operation
n Hydraulically powered product feed
n Glaze container with anti-bubble system
The entire process guarantees that the product is constantly
in suspension and in motion inside the dynamic application
chamber.
Technical features:
n 180° opening system for regular cleaning with hand-operated reduction unit
n Fine adjustment of coating film thickness by means of camshaft with graduated display scale in tenths of mm
n Product feed by high delivery-rate pump unit constructed
in special niploy material
n Delivery-rate regulated by keypad on control panel
The total noise level lies below 65 dB at 1 m.

Als einziger Aussteller aus der Tschechischen Republik im
Bereich Verschleißschutz/Ersatzteile stellt Aweld seine Produkte für die Neuanfertigung und Renovierung von Ersatz- und
Verschleißteilen vor: Schnecken für Strangpressen aller Hersteller und Größen, Fertigung von dreigängigen Spitzköpfen
für alle Pressen, Pressköpfe mit von außen einstellbaren Bremsen, Kollergangroste mit Wolfram-Karbidauftrag sowie die Fertigung von Verschleißteilen aller Art für Aufbereitungsmaschinen. Spezialisiert hat sich Aweld auf die Pressen-Optimierung
in Bezug auf Leistung und Strangauspressung sowie auf die
Schneckenrenovierung. Das Auftragsschweißen von abriebfesten Schichten gehört u.a. zum Arbeitsprogramm. Neu im Fertigungssortiment ist die Herstellung von Rostplatten für Kollergänge und von Siebblechen für Siebrundbeschicker aus
hoch- und verschleißfesten Stahlsorten auf einer neuen Sonderanlage, die es ermöglicht, eine optimale Lochform bei
Rostplatten und Siebblechen ohne thermische Grundwerk-

As the only exhibitor from the Czech Republic in the field of
wear protection/spares, Aweld presents its products for the
new manufacture and renovation of spares and wearing
parts: Augers for extruders of all manufacturers in all sizes,
production of triple-thread tapered heads for all presses, press
heads with brakes adjustable from the outside, pan mill grids
with tungsten carbide coating, and the production of wearing
parts of all types for preparation machines. Aweld has specialized in press optimization in regard to capacity and clay column extrusion and in auger renovation. Hardfacing of abrasion-proof coatings is part of the work programme.
A new production feature is the manufacture of grid plates for
pan mills and screens for circular screen feeders in highly wear
resistant steel on a new plant which allows an optimum perforation pattern to be achieved for grid plates and screens
without thermally influencing the basic material. Aweld also
has wide experience in the manufacture of augers, cylinder
casings and other rust-free wearing parts for machines in the
heavy clay and fine ceramic sector. Furthermore Aweld carries
out general overhauls and conversions of preparation plants
and extruders, as well as assembly and repairs of the
machines directly on the customer’s premises.

Franz Banke GmbH has been making moulds and accessories
for the roof tile industry for 25 years. The Special Machinery
Construction department is presenting the following new

The special features of this new generation of plaster mixing
plants are its compact design and user-friendly handling.

Seit 25 Jahren fertigt die Firma Franz Banke GmbH Formen
und Zubehörteile für die Dachziegelindustrie. Die Abteilung
Sondermaschinenbau präsentiert auf der ceramitec folgende
Neuheiten:
Gipsmischanlagen AVM 20
Die neue Generation von Gipsmischanlagen zeichnet sich
besonders durch ihre kompakte Bauweise und ihre anwenderfreundliche Bedienung aus. Installierte Komponenten wie die
S7-300-Steuerung, die Siwarex-Wägezelle und das Bedienpaneel „OP17“ ermöglichen eine besonders individuelle
Rezeptgestaltung und einfache Bedienung. Für die Bereiche
Mechanik und Wartung wurden Komponenten namhafter
Hersteller wie beispielsweise eine Busch-Vakuumpumpe und
Festo-Pneumatikbauteile verwendet. Die Anlage ist aus Edelstahl gefertigt und verfügt über viele technische Feinheiten,
die gern vom Messepersonal erläutert werden.

construction and maintenance, components from well-known
manufacturers are used, e.g. a Busch vacuum pump and
Festo pneumatic components. The plant is constructed of
stainless steel and has many technical details, which the exhibition team will be happy to explain.

Demoulding with power and precision was the specification
for the second new development. It has been termed

Entformen mit Kraft und Präzision war die Vorgabe für die
zweite Neuentwicklung. Die Bezeichnung „Entformungsanlage“ wird verwendet, da das herkömmliche Gipspressen nur
noch vereinzelt angewandt wird. Die Aufgabenstellung dieser
neuen Anlage ist es, das Formenpaket mit der nötigen Präzision und zum richtigen Zeitpunkt zu trennen. Schnelles und
einfaches Wechseln der Muttermodelle erspart oft die
Anschaffung teurer Mutterformrahmen mit Abhebvorrichtung. Ausgestattet mit einem neuen Hebelsystem, erzeugt die
mit Druckluft betriebene Anlage Trennkräfte bis zu 30 000 N.
Durch diese großzügige Dimensionierung kann sie auch im
Zubehörbereich eingesetzt werden.
Die Mitarbeiter der Firma Banke informieren die Besucher

Borate werden seit langem in den Versätzen der Glasindustrie
eingesetzt, da sie vorteilhaft für die Prozessverarbeitung und
die Eigenschaften des Endproduktes sind. Den Glasprodukten
verleihen sie eine chemische Dauerhaftigkeit und sie erhöhen
die Wärmeschockbeständigkeit. Diese Eigenschaften sind auf
die Wirkung des Borats als Flussmittel zurückzuführen, das
eine höhere Verglasung sicherstellt.
Diese glasbildenden Effekte sind auch für die Ziegel- und
Dachziegelindustrie interessant. In einer Zeit, wo Qualitätsverbesserungen immer schwerer zu realisieren sind, tragen Borate zur Qualitätsverbesserung und Kostensenkung bei. Borate
haben für den Ziegel- oder Dachziegelhersteller mehrere

used in isolated applications. This new plant is designed to
separate the mould pack with the necessary precision and at
the right time. Fast and simple exchange of the mother
mould model often saves the plant operator the expense of
buying mother mould frames with lifting gear. Equipped with
a new lever system, the plant is driven with compressed air
and generates parting forces to 30 000 N. With this generous
dimensioning, it can also be used for accessories.

of products: from the new development of a roof tile to the

Borates have long been used in the glass-making batch in the
glass industry, as they bring advantages both to the processing of the glass and to end-product properties. In finished
glass products they impart chemical durability and increase
resistance to thermal shock. These multiple effects are attributed to the fluxing action of the borate, ensuring greater vitrification.
These glass-forming effects are also of benefit to the clay brick
and tile industry. At a time when quality improvements are
becoming harder to find, borates contribute to improving the

The “Kera-Pfanne”, a fully sintered, small-size pantile has
been offered with a newly optimized quality and shape since
commissioning of the new production plant at the Guttau II
facility.
For walls and floors, Creaton is presenting the “Tonality”
façade tile system. Curtain walls clad with coloured ceramic
tiles present an interesting alternative to plastered surfaces
and glass/steel constructions in respect of building physics as
well as design and economic aspects. The same applies to
indoor surfaces. The “Creaton Estrichziegel“ is a floor paving
tile that can be used either as underfloor or as a floor
covering. Compared with other wet-floor paving products,
these tiles need a much shorter drying time to become walkable, saving valuable building project time. These products
are also illustrated with examples from numerous reference
projects.

its traditional suppliers Talleres Felipe Verdés for the
preparation and moulding machinery and to Ingicer (ex

Das neue Modell wurde komplett neu konstruiert; nur das
Grundschema und das Aussehen der Vorgängermodelle
LB 10, LB 12 und LB 15 als Schwingenwalzwerke wurden
übernommen. Wachsende Anforderungen in Verbindung mit
den Erfahrungen der bisherigen Modelle führten zu neuen
technischen Lösungen für alle Maschinenkomponenten.
Grundsätzlich zeichnet sich die Maschine durch die für die
Klasse LB typische Standfestigkeit und Zuverlässigkeit der
erprobten Schwingen-Feinwalzwerke aus und erreicht auch
deren Walzenspalt von 0,5 mm. Der in der neuen elektrischen
Bedientafel installierte Bordcomputer steuert alle Arbeitsfunktionen, von der digitalen Einstellung des Walzenspalts bis hin
zum Ablauf der Arbeitszyklen. Dazu kommt ein zweckmäßiger
spezifischer Energieverbrauch.
Laker is a leading supplier of preparation plants for ceramic
products as well as in the field of engineering and implementation of complete plants for clay products. The company
opened the production season 2003 by introducing the new
models of the roller mill KLB 12 and the extruder LKV 750. In
regard to the technical solutions, these new machines stand
out for their simple construction and economical operation.
The first machines have already been tested and are working
successfully in several brickworks.

This new model has been fully redesigned, just retaining the
general scheme and the aesthetic pattern of the swingingtype previous versions LB 10, LB 12 and LB 15. Growing
demands, combined with the experiences gained with the
previous models, have led to new technical solutions for all
the machine components. Basically, the machine retains the
stability and reliability of the proven swing-type fine roller
mills typical of the LB class, and also achieves the roller gap of
0.5 mm. The on-board computer, installed in the new electric
operating panel, controls all the working functions, from the
digital setting of the roller gap to the working cycle sequence.
The machine works with a reasonable specific energy consumption.

sowie ihre Stabilität und Zuverlässigkeit aus. Der Einwellenmischer hat seine hervorragenden Leistungsergebnisse im Markt
bestätigt. Der Schneckenkomplex wurde durch die Übernahme eines neuen Profils rundum erneuert, unterstützt durch
eine besondere Verschleißschutzbehandlung. Die Maschinenkonstruktion wurde verbessert. Sie erlaubt leichteren Zugang
zu den verschiedenen Komponenten und sorgt für gleichmäßigeren Betrieb. Das gilt auch für die Gitterroste sowie für
das Wartungssystem innerhalb der Vakuumkammer.
Dank innovativer technischer Lösungen wurden die allgemeine mechanische Aufstellung, die Antriebseinheiten und die
Getriebe komplett erneuert, bleiben aber im ursprünglichen
Stil der Firma Laker.

its construction and essential components are derived. The
new extruder meets the growing production demands,
achieving a high degree of homogenization of the clay mass.
It stands out within the LKV extruder range for its larger
dimensions, its sturdiness and reliability. The mixer with the
“mono-shaft” formula has confirmed its excellent performance results on the market. The auger complex has been fully
renewed through the adoption of a new profile, supported
by a special anti-wear protection treatment. The machine

be informing visitors about the latest developments in separation systems. Mogensen, the specialist in the manufacture of
screens and sorting machines, has been part of the Southern
German Allgaier Group since 1988 and celebrated its 35th
company anniversary this year.
Thanks to the systematic development of the company’s
optoelectronic sorting systems, a range of machine types is
available to give optimal performance in the particle size
ranges 1–10 mm, 5–40 mm, 30–80 mm and 50–250 mm. The
sorting systems are equipped with different types of valve that
are optimized for their respective particle size range.
MikroSort sorting systems cost-efficiently sort raw materials
by their colour, shape or lightness. They can consequently
replace the selective extraction of material deposits or hand

The Pilatus machine bed made of fine-grained cast iron – with
oversize stabilizing rib elements – absorbs vibrations more
effectively so that resistance to deformation is increased considerably. With the precise interplay between the hardened
flat and prismatic guide (Pilatus System), a frictional and
smooth feed motion is guaranteed. This design ensures optimal rigidity, which is of utmost importance for the extremely
precise hard turning of the rolls.
Moreover the effect of the “VIBRA/P” anti-vibration system
developed and improved by Pilatus AG can also be tested at
ceramitec 2003 for instance. This system eliminates the need
for removal of the roller turning machine from the roller mill
after each turning process in order to avoid the vibrations and
percussions during grinding.
Since the introduction of the Vibra/P System, vibration damage to Pilatus roller turning machines is no longer a problem.
In addition, older roller turning machines can now be retrofitted with the Vibra/P-System on request.
Silca GmbH, D-Mettmann
Silca is presenting Microcal 1100, a microporous calcium silicate that has been continually improved in the last few years.
It offers the same advantages as a standard calcium silicate:
low apparent density and heat storage, good compressive
strength, easy workability and uncomplicated disposal as construction waste. But because it is produced in a process
patented by Calsitherm, Microcal 1100 has a microporous
structure and therefore a much reduced coefficient of thermal
conductivity. This reduction becomes particularly noticeable
in the high temperature range – here its thermal conductivity
is around 25% lower than that of standard calcium silicates.
Microcal 1100 is resistant to inert gases and develops outstanding properties even in inert gas atmospheres. Tests at
Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (BAF) have
shown that its coefficients of thermal conductivity are only
slightly above those measured in a normal air atmosphere.

Silca GmbH, D-Mettmann
Die Firma Silca präsentiert Microcal 1100, ein mikroporöses
Calciumsilicat, das in den letzten Jahren ständig verbessert
wurde. Es weist die gleichen Vorteile wie ein normales Calciumsilicat auf: geringe Rohdichte und Wärmespeicherung,
gute Druckfestigkeit, einfache Verarbeitung und leichte Entsorgung als Bauschutt. Aber durch das von Calsitherm patentierte Herstellungsverfahren erhält Microcal 1100 eine microporöse Struktur und damit eine erheblich reduzierte
Wärmeleitfähigkeit. Die Reduzierung macht sich besonders im
hohen Temperaturbereich bemerkbar und liegt bis zu 25 %
günstiger als bei den üblichen Calciumsilicaten.
Microcal 1100 ist schutzgasbeständig und entwickelt auch
unter Schutzgas herausragende Eigenschaften: So haben
z. B. Tests an der TU-Bergakademie Freiberg (BAF) gezeigt,
dass die Wärmeleitzahlen nur geringfügig über denen liegen,
die an normaler Luft gemessen werden. Sie sind somit viel

Solincer is an engineering company for thermal processes and
designs and supplies all types of dryers and kilns for the structural ceramic industry, built according to customer requirements. At the end of 2002, Talleres Felipe Verdés became an
important partner. The Spanish market rapidly acknowledged
this fact and placed orders for three complete new plants,
with Verdés supplying the preparation and moulding
machines, Ingicer the plant automation and Solincer the
dryer and kiln. These new works are:
n Cerámica Verea with a production of 200 000 extruded
Arab roofing tiles per day
n Cerámica Alhabia: production of 270 tonnes/day of partition tiles
n Cerámica Juanjo: production of 450 tonnes/day of blocks,
partition tiles, Poroton and perforated brick.

Das Verkaufsteam von Stafier päsentiert sich auf der ceramitec mit
einer neuen Auftrittsform. Dargestellt werden umfangreiche
Ergebnisse der Stafier-Innovationen, unter anderem eine neue
Konstruktion für Dachziegel-Trockenpaletten. Diese trägt mit
ihrer optimalen Permeabilität und Belüftung dazu bei, dass sich
das Auftreten von Verformungen der Dachziegel beim Trocknen
verringert. Des Weiteren werden neue Materialanwendungen
für den Einsatz im grobkeramischen Bereich dargestellt.
At this year’s ceramitec, the sales team at Stafier will be
breaking with the past and putting on a different presentation. Stafier will display many of the results of its innovative
drive, including a new design for roofing tile drying plates
with optimum permeability and aeration which help to retain
the shape of the product during drying. New material applications for use in the coarse ceramic industry will also be on
show.
A completely new feature is a sample project in which Stafier
and a major roofing tile manufacturer have jointly developed
a new type of solar panel. The whole panel is made from high
quality aluminium. Stafier is currently participating in the
development, manufacture, assembly and supply of these
solar panels.
Of course Stafier will also have its wide range of support
applications on display, including the ideal technology for
drying of paving and facing bricks, roofing tiles, floor and wall
tiles and fireproof materials.

Die VHV-Modulbauweise bewährt sich auch für Abzugsbänder
und Kastenbeschicker mit Gummigurten. Die NC-gesteuerte
Fertigung der Bauteile spart aufwändige Schweißkonstruktionen und erleichtert den Einbau und Austausch von
Schleißauskleidungen. Bunkerabmessungen, Seitenneigungen
und Austragsstärken werden produktspezifisch ausgeführt.
Förderleistungen sind durch Drehzahländerungen und
Schichthöhen einstellbar. Antriebe werden entsprechend
dimensioniert.

The VHV modular design principle has also proved effective
for discharge belts and box feeders with rubber belts. The
NC-controlled fabrication of the components saves on expensive welded constructions and facilitates the installation and
replacement of wear liners. Hopper dimensions, inclination of
the sidewalls and width of the discharge opening are
designed specific to the product to be handled. Handling
rates can be adjusted based on changes in speed and material
layer heights. Drives are dimensioned accordingly.
This year too, VHV will be showing a plant in operation. The
bulk material is conveyed in a closed circuit. A combination of
covered belt conveyor and twin-belt conveyor takes the bulk
material from the discharge belt and conveys it through a
C-shaped section back to the box feeder.
