by CK Hutchison Holdings Limited in
Hongkong and operates on the Austrian market
as Drei since 2003.
• With the takeover of Orange Austria in
January 2013, Drei made another important
step – currently with 3.8 million customers
(Dec 2015).
• Since its launch in 2003, Drei has been a
pioneer for simple solutions for the digital
life, e.g. fast mobile broadband internet for the
home, mobile TV or film and music services for
smartphones. Drei is the mobile provider with
the biggest network of branded stores in
Austria. Next to an encompassing customer
service for private and business customers Drei
has the densest 4G-network in Austria.

• After the takeover, the merge of the company‘s
two networks takes place in several steps.
• Step 1: Since summer 2013 Drei has offered a
significantly improved 2G coverage to its
customers with National Roaming.
• Step 2: The integration of both 3G networks has
been completed in February 2014. This way all
customers benefit from an even better 3G
coverage.
• In 2014 Drei continued the rollout and
improvement of its network. One further task is
the country-wide 4G rollout. 6000 mobile sites
(about 50% more than the former 3network)
improve the nationwide coverage.
• On August 27, 2015 Drei completed the rollout
of Austria‘s biggest 4G network and thus closed
the supply gap within rural areas. The 3network
with its 98% 2G, 3G and 4G population
coverage and downloads of up to 300 Mbit/s is
one of the most modern networks in the world.
