„Kraftwerk“, 2015
Mit einem filmischen Ambigramm erkundet Carmen Donet García spielerisch meditativ den
architektonischen Komplex des ehemaligen Heizkraftwerks in München-Obersendling.
Ein Ambigramm (lat. ambo = beide, griech. gramma = Schrift) ist ein Schriftzug, der aus verschiedenen Perspektiven lesbar ist. Sei es auf dem Kopf stehend oder rückwärts gedreht –
die Typographie bleibt erkennbar. Man muss jedoch umdenken, um sie lesen zu können.
Dabei kann die Aussage gleich bleiben oder sich ändern.
Donet García wendet in ihrer Videoarbeit „Kraftwerk“ System und Struktur eines Ambigramms auf das Zeigen von Architektur an. Dabei verhält es sich wie bei der Typographie:
man muss einen „Schalter im Kopf “ umlegen, um den Inhalt erkennen zu können.
Während man sich im ersten Teil meditativ auf die Betrachtung von Details des Gebäudes und
der Baustelle einlassen kann, bietet der mittlere Teil Blicke in die Ferne, Großaufnahmen der
skulptural verpackten Fassade und der fertiggestellten Innenräume. Im letzten Teil verbinden
sich die Stränge der beiden ersten Filme zu einem bewegten Ganzen. Detail- und Großaufnahmen treten miteinander in Dialog, Größenverhältnisse werden aufgeklärt.
Den eigentlichen, doch gewaltigen Dimensionen des Kraftwerks entgegengesetzt stellt sich
beim wiederholten Betrachten des Loops eine kontemplative, stille Wahrnehmung der Architektur ein.

My parents emigrated in the beginnings of the 80s from Spain to Germany.
Every year they travel back to their home-country to go on vacation.
In this short-film I accompany them on their journey.

In this first collaborative work, Hannah Cooke and I depict our similarities and differences
through the content of our wallets. As a way to approach each others identity we started to
complete the others purse-content by getting the same i.d.s / passes / bonus-cards / photographs/ cash etc. In the end we presented both wallet-contents as a mirroring line.
Choreographed as the children‘s game „I‘ll show you mine if you show me yours“ in which
children compare by turns their intimate body parts.

The Installation „Over the Rainbow“ shows a sequence from 1939 movie
„The Wizard of Oz“: Judy Garland performing „Over the Rainbow“. The video is concentrated trough a PVC-tube and projected onto a white wall. This ray of light is broken up
by a prism into its spectral components (Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red).
This „rainbow“ can be seen as a small line on the white wall.

Two identical and improvised wood-constructions shoot via a mechanism with rolls a
rubber-ball into the other machine. The ball is shot indirectly into the chute.
Both machines work with old and deranged tumble-dryer motors.

The couple Joerg Stegmann and Carmen Donet couldn‘t attend both the opening of the
exhibition in St. Petersburg. Joerg Stegmann will be present, Carmen Donet had to stay in Karlsruhe Germany.
As a way to stay in touch they will play for the duration of the opening the pencil and paper game „Battleship“ via SMS text messaging.
Joerg Stegmann‘s notes will be presented during the exhibition.
