DROPSAFE® secured a globe after it broke from its light fixture located at height on an Ensco rig (offshore Australia)
During a routine inspection, a globe was discovered to have broken from its fixture and Dropsafe safety net catching it. This could’ve been a bad accident if it was not for the net securing the globe and prevented it dropping from height. DROPSAFE® at WORK ‐ CASE 1

DROPSAFE® keeps light fixture at height safe after a crane boom collision on a Seadrill Rig
When the Platform crane was swinging in toward the platform to pick up cement hoses off the BOP deck to transfer to the production deck, one of the two crane boom lights on the tip of the boom contacted the access ramp pennant wire and broke the plastic shroud. The light had been fitted with safety netting the previous day and prevented anything falling. All personnel were clear of the lift and landing area during the operation.

DROPSAFE® secured and retained a broken light from dropping at height on a Seadrill rig
An Electrician was replacing lamps under drill floor, when he noticed one sodium light is lower than the rest. Upon inspection he found that it had broken off and was hanging in the safety net. It is unlikely that any equipment damaged the light. Jarring operation was conducted the previous day, which may have led to a lot of movement and eventually caused further damage had it not been for the secondary retention safety net that prevented the fixture from dropping.

DROPSAFE® secured a light fixture and support after being hit during a lifting operation at height on an Ensco rig
The crane operator and signaler from SHI were assigned to install a platform for covering the BOP gantry crane rail. The operator was lifting a platform by using crane on the vessel from the riser deck to the drill floor. When the platform was landing, the platform was swung and hitting support of lighting above the drill floor. As a result, The support of lighting was broken. At that time, the rope used as tag line hit slightly signaler’s face but the signaler was not injured.
