25 years Fine Asian Art anniversary at Nagel Auctions
717 | Fine Asian Art
08th/09th December 2014
Founded over 90 years ago and with a performance of over 700 auctions, Nagel Auctions
is a success story of its own and belongs to Germany‘s most prestigious and best selling
auction houses.
I
ts fine Special Asian Art Sales are considered to be Nagel‘s flagship taking place twice
a year since 1990. Michael Trautmann, head of the Asian Art Dept. succeeded to
establish Nagel Auctions as a worldwide recognised market place for Japanese, Southeast
Asian and Chinese art over the past 25 years.
In November 2000, Nagel Auctions gained high international attention as an Asian art
specialist with the spectacular auction ”Treasures of Tek Sing“. This event entered the
Guinness book of records as the world‘s largest auction of its kind and drew global media
and visitor attention through promotional exhibitions in New York, London, Paris and Asia.

In 2004, Nagel Auctions launched its first exhibition in Beijing which established the
brand Nagel Auctions and created a high reputation in China through attracting the
state television and other media sources. With permanent representative offices based
in Hong Kong and Beijing, Nagel Auctions keeps promoting its highlights on a regular
basis ever since.
Today Nagel Auctions gained a strong position in the international art market. At
revenues of up to € 27 million per auction and beyond, Nagel Auctions attracts the
high level circle of international and predominantly Asian buyers. Consequently Nagel
Auctions belongs to the leading addresses in Europe and benefits from the continuously
growing demand for Asian and Chinese artefacts.
