Saeculum - German Pavilion
Welcome
to our foreign rights catalogue
Autumn 2011
Since its publication in January 2010 EREBOS by U. Poznanski
has become a huge success on both national and international level.
Over 100.000 sold copies within 18 months here in Germany and the
fact that we sold translation rights into over 20 languages speak for
themselves. The virtuosity with which the author describes the manipulative aspect of the game and the way the borders between reality
and virtual reality dissolve is unique.
With this programme we have the great pleasure to introduce you to
U. Poznanski’s new title SAECULUM. Just as intriguing as her first
book; the author skilfully describes the feelings and behaviour of young
people in extreme circumstances. Beyond the thrilling story there also is
a layer that touches on the essential relationship between father and son.
Curious? Please contact us for a sample copy of this exceptional book!
Now please enjoy our new programme autumn 2011!

Living the way people did during the Middle Ages for five entire days; no electricity,
no mobiles, and not even matches –
normally, this would not be Bastian’s
scene. If it was not for Sandra he would
not have joined this live role-play deep
inside a remote forest. Once they set off
one of the girls claims that the place they
went to is cursed: A feud between the
legitimate and the bastard son of a medieval Count led to a terrible event. Afraid
that his brother was after their father’s
property, the rightful son had the bastard
massacred at the father’s grave. Just
before he died, the illegitimate brother
cursed his relations, the castle and the
ground on which they stood. No one who
enters this forest shall ever return.
Strange things start to happen and it
seems impossible to leave the forest.
Did they make a mistake in not taking
the curse seriously?

Peru, 1893: Oskar Wegener from Berlin and
his companions have reached the Colca
Canyon – the world’s most gigantic canyon;
deeper than Grand Canyon, and wilder than
the Victoria Falls. High up there at 3,000 metres, the Inca’s last remaining descendants,
the people of the Rain Eaters, have built a
vertical city: fixed up high in between the
valley’s walls, connected by delicate bridges.
Their art and architecture give evidence of a
thousand-year-old culture – and a threat that
is just as old.

for readers aged 12+
In October 1893 on the summit of the
Bandiagara massif in French-Sudan,
today known as Mali, the ethnologist
Richard Bellheim discovers the desert
city of the Tellem, people who came to
the mountains from the Sahara and who
appeared to have an astonishingly comprehensive knowledge of astronomy.
In the centre of the city is a temple
which is built on top of a mysterious
green stone. Bellheim is sure that he
has found The Glass Curse, a fortunate
stone which was brought to the mountain by the people of Tellem and which
might have been the reason for their
disappearance.
Back in Berlin Bellheim holds a lecture
about his experiences and discoveries
in Africa. However, he does not recognize his old friend Carl Friedrich Humboldt anymore. It seems that since he
has come back from the mountain he
forgets a lot of things, and apparently
he eats glass. Bellheim’s wife asks
Humboldt to find out what has happened to her husband back in Africa.
And so Humboldt, Oscar, Charlotte and
Eliza set out to their next big adventure
to discover the secret of the Tellems
and their glass curse.

From the beginning of time the Snow
Queen has ruled over the white desert
at the edge of the world. Her realm is
cold and her heart made of ice. But
then the young magician Tamsin Spellwell succeeds in doing what no-one
else has dared to do before – she steals
an icicle from the icy heart of the Snow
Queen, in order to destroy the tyrant’s
power. In St Petersburg, in the coldest
winter ever known, the two encounter
one another again. They engage in a
fantastic magic duel – yet in the end it
is not magic that determines the winner,
but the courage of Tamsin’s young
friend...

athletic performances. Stumbling from

Neither the constant bullying by his

by the girls from school who are simply
taller (Hugo secretly calls them giraffes)
get him down. However difficult it gets,
Hugo is never going to give up!

his daughter Kasmiranda, and potbellied pig Ingeborg got used to the
quite different appearance of their
home town Rippelpode in 2011, the
whole bunch sets out to explore the

changed quite a bit – finding a sausage

At one point a terrible suspicion arises
in director Pompadauz’s mind: what if
