WORD CLASSES ( page 11) Primeiramente, dê uma olhada nesse versinho, usado para decorar as categorias gramaticais em inglês. Every name is called a noun, As field and fountain, street and town In place of noun the pronoun stands As he and she can clap their hands. The adjective describes a thing, As magic wand or bridal ring. Most verbs mean action, something do To read and write, to jump and run. How things are done the adverbs tell As quickly, slowly, badly, well. The preposition shows relation, As in the street or at the station. Conjunctions join, in many ways, Sentences, words, or phrase and phrases The interjection cries out, “Heed! Pronouns são os pronomes, que indicam pessoas e coisas, como he (ele) ou she (ela). Adjectives são os adjetivos, que caracterizam as coisas, como magic (mágico) ou bridal (de noivado). Verbs são ações, como read (ler), write (escrever), jump (pular) e run (correr). Adverbs são os advérbios, que mostram como as coisas são feitas, como quickly (rapidamente), slowly (lentamente), badly (gravemente) ou well (bom, bem feito). Prepositions são as preposições, que determinam relações entre as coisas com em in the street (na rua) e at the station (na estação). Conjunctions são as conjunções, que ligam as palavras e frases, como or (ou) e and (e). Articles e determiner são os artigos indefenidos a/an ou o defenido the - os determiners podem ser os demonstrativos this, that, these, those e os pronomes possessivos my, your,..... Por fim, interjections são as interjeições, que representam sons, falas, etc., como “stop!” (Pare!). Você não precisa saber tudo isso de cor e salteado, basta ter uma noção de cada uma das categorias gramaticais.
