Day 1 Welcoming Remarks
Ethisphere introduces the 2015 Latin America
Ethics Summit
Sports are a global connector, not just of
worldwide fans and players, but it connects
the interests of both public and private
enterprises alike. As a multibillion-dollar
industry it is just as exposed to corruption
risk as the rest of the business environment.
And it can take on many forms – from the
influence of sports betting to unfair bidding
of construction contracts and from money
laundering ties to sports sponsorship. If
anything stands in the way of celebrating the
approach of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio,
corruption would be a top concern. Hear
from an expert panel of representatives from
global sports committees and sponsoring
corporations that will share their views on
the sports corruption landscape in 2015 and
beyond.
9:10 am - 10:05 am MODERATED KEYNOTE The General
Counsel Perspective
A discussion with a panel of General Counsel
from leading companies as they share their
views on the compliance landscape, the
compliance team structure, and how their
roles have evolved to adapt to increased
standards in the business market and
new regulation.
10:05 am - 11:00 am SESSION 1 | Brazil’s Clean Company
Act, The New Decree, and the
Anticorruption Landscape
Now over a year since Brazil’s Clean Company
Act took effect, it has been at the center
of much conversation and debate. But are
companies and government officials putting
words to action? With Decree No. 8,420 taking
effect on March 19, 2015, are the guidelines
more helpful or in fact creating more confusion
in the market? How does the decree impact
the calculation of fines, and how do both the
public and private sector need to approach
“leniency agreements”? This session will
address the items that still remain unclear
in the fight against corruption and how
organizations need to refocus their efforts to
addressing anticorruption activity.
3:10 pm - 3:30 pm
Latin America presents a unique climate
with government activity, company activity,
and social concerns all presenting cultural
challenges that can have far-reaching impact
on the business environment. How does
corporate ethics take on different meanings
across the Latin America? Are there
universal themes that are generally accepted
despite cultural barriers or is this still a work
in progress? How must companies take
cultural attributes into consideration when
developing or enhancing their compliance
& ethics programs? This session will cover
how companies can build a consistent
global culture of ethics, and will also discuss
challenges companies face from an ethical
perspective when working across borders and
communities.
11:20 am - 12:15 am SESSION 2 | Effectively
(and Efficiently) Structuring Your
Compliance Department

11:00 am - 11:20 am Day 1 Morning Networking Break
Whether your company is globally or regionally
focused, it is often making business bets in
developing markets for new opportunities. And
yet the compliance department budget doesn’t
seem to grow in a corresponding way. When
should you hire a compliance person “incountry”? How can you effectively manage a
compliance team as the business continues to
expand within and outside the home country?
How do you adjust as growth shifts outside of
Latin America? What kind of compensation
should be expected? Hear from experienced
compliance officers how to effectively build
and improve your compliance department.
SESSION 3 | Not a Game:

Sports Sponsorship
4:25 pm - 5:20 pm MODERATED KEYNOTE | The C-Suite

Networking Break
11:15 am - 12:10 pm SESSION 3 | Developing Trust
and Responsible Relationships
Across the Third Parties
As the business grows, so do the
necessary relationships with suppliers,
vendors, and partners. How do
organizations ensure that compliance
and ethical standards are in alignment
with each third party, and how does
that get communicated. How can due
diligence processes be enhanced
to better identify the risks from third
parties? How can trust be the glue that
binds all parties together effectively
and ethically? And how critical to these
efforts are the functions of CSR and
sustainability? This expert panel will
share best practices around relationship
management, risk assessment,
sustainability, and building trust
throughout a vast network.
Whether you are engaging in business practices
within the Latin American market, expanding
into new countries overseas or partnering with
foreign governments and businesses, regionand country-specific risks threaten to disrupt
the stability and reputation of your company.
Hear from this diverse panel of local and
multinational companies that will shed light on
the well-publicized and the lesser-known risks
within the region and around the globe. This
session will help identify where compliance and
ethics need to make adjustments to account for
these exceptional concerns.
10:00 am - 10:55 amSESSION 2 | Reputation
and Transparency in 2015:
The Perception of
Company Behavior
Company reputation is on the line every day.
No matter the size of the company or how
vast its global operations, the company and
its leadership are exposed to an increasing
number of threats that can dismantle even the
most reputable companies, which can take
years and substantial resources to rebuild. The
traditional threats like bribery and corruption
are now joined with growing concerns from
data breaches, whistleblowing and social
irresponsibility. Mainstream media coverage
and widespread social media on these issues
put company reputation in the spotlight, making
any company misstep hard to ignore and often
impossible to forget. Careful management and
proactive controls to monitor threats is key and
response during times of potential crisis will
often make or break the company. This panel
will share insights on sustaining reputation and
steps companies can take to preserve integrity
during even the most challenging times.
12:10 pm - 1:05 pm CLOSING KEYNOTE | Fueling
Business Growth through
Company Integrity
This diverse panel of leaders will discuss
how ethics can play a competitive
advantage in the market, foster
investment opportunities and position
the company for growth as it mitigates
risk and enhances support through
public and private channels.
