For as long as she could remember,
Sílvia Amaro had dreamed of living
in London. Her parents used to live
there before she was born and she
had listened to their experiences with
wide eyed excitement. Now, 18 and
finishing high school, Sílvia decided
that what she really wanted was to
go to university in her dream city and
study her passion, journalism.
Sílvia came to us at FUN LANGUAGES
VISEU first as a student on the summer course of WYMONDHAM 2010
IN ENGLAND, and with this experience
she got to know the UK and London in
particular. She came into contact with
British life, traditions, people, colleges,
and most importantly the English
language. This experience was extremely important to her, and she really
improved her spoken English over
the course. This is why the summer
courses that FL organises every year
are absolutely FUNdamental !
Sílvia had never taken any Cambridge
ESOL exams before, and even though
she had excellent English marks at
school, these were not enough to get
her entry into an English university.
Sílvia discovered that with all of
her chosen courses, what she nee d e d w as a g o o d g r a d e i n th e
CAMBRIDGE IELTS EXAM, which is
standard practice at most institutions in English speaking countries.
Silvia came back to Fun Languages,
and we helped her with the application process, having knowledge in that
field with our own and very experienced native teachers, and trained her
to get the grade she needed in IELTS.
It was a long road, and great effort was
put in from both sides, but in the end
she achieved the grade she desired,
and is now studying journalism at
CITY OF LONDON UNIVERSITY.
Silvia has already benefited from
being in this fantastic city. This summer she will be working as a journalist
for THE LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES
2012, and of course this will provide
her with a priceless opportunity to
develop and grow in her chosen field.
Fun Languages is proud to have been
a part of her story, using both our
summer courses in England, and our
experience in IELTS to help her realise
her dreams.

please drop into Fun Languages and
