EDITORIAL
Esta é a primeira edição do boletim eletrônico
“Socioeconomia & Ciência Animal”, um projeto de
extensão desenvolvido pelo Laboratório de
Análises Socioeconômicas e Ciência Animal
(LAE).
O LAE é um dos 13 laboratórios do Departamento
de Nutrição e Produção Animal da FMVZ, a
Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia
da Universidade de São Paulo.
O boletim eletrônico – ainda em fase experimental
– tem o objetivo de divulgar os resultados de
pesquisas
desenvolvidas
e
publicadas
nacionalmente e internacionalmente, e que
tenham como campo de investigação, as Ciências
Humanas
aplicadas
diretamente
ou
conjuntamente à Ciência Animal. Portanto, este
projeto de extensão procura contribuir para o
desenvolvimento
científico
baseado
na
multidisciplinaridade.
Os artigos serão sistematizados seguindo as
quatro linhas de atuação do LAE, quais sejam: i)
Estudo da relação entre as ciências sociais e a
animal; ii) Estudo dos sistemas agroindustriais; iii)
Avaliação
socioeconômica
de
projetos
agropecuários e agroindustriais; e iv) Gestão e
otimização aplicadas à ciência animal.
A periodicidade de publicação do boletim
“Socioeconomia & Ciência Animal” será, em
princípio, quinzenal. Nas próximas edições serão
apresentadas novas seções, como notícias,
eventos, pesquisas em desenvolvimento, artigos
técnicos, opiniões e editais de financiamento à
pesquisa.
O boletim é de livre acesso a todos que tenham
interesse, bastando enviar uma mensagem
solicitando a inclusão do e-mail destinatário para
o seu recebimento.
Críticas, idéias e sugestões sempre serão bem
vindas.

Effective conservation of exploited species
requires an understanding of the motivations
experienced by resource users. When use is
illegal, it can be particularly difficult to distinguish
users from non-users. The attitudes of local
people are critical to conservation success,
because they interact with social circumstances to
determine behaviour. In this study we explore the
factors influencing inferred poaching behaviour of
the Critically Endangered saiga antelope (Saiga
tatarica) in six communities in three countries of
the former Soviet Union….

individuals' behavior with respect to Internet use,
but less attention is paid to farm household use of
the Internet. Among the few studies on farm
households, the emphasis is on the correlation
between socioeconomic factors and the adoption

about the association between Internet use and
