This 750 ha family business farm, a benchmark in the region,
owned by Maria de Lourdes S.A. de Noronha Lopes and husband
Eng. António Lopes is been keeping up with the conversion of
farming in Alentejo, investing considerable sums in the process
About 35 ha of the vines are red grape varietals and 7 ha white,
and more of the most popular Alentejo varietals have been
planted: Trincadeira and Aragonez (red), and Arinto and Antão
Vaz (white).

Comporta a Unique Place a Unique Wine. Rarely do you encounter
a place like this: a place of wild beauty and calm spirit, where
the sun reveals intense and vibrant colours, and the generous
land provides unhurriedly its best. A landscape whose perfect
harmony is an inspiration to us. The 30 hectares of vineyard at
Herdade da Comporta are planted on a gentle slope slightly above
sea level, in a sandy valley running from east to west. The vines
are thus exposed to the sun practically all day long. Temperatures
are mild thanks to the aproximity of de ocean - perfect conditions
to ripen grapes with fine aroma and flavour.

Das Landgut Comenda Grande dehnt sich über 750 ha aus und
liegt bei Igrejinha, mitten im Alentejo. Insgesamt bewirtschaftet
die Familie Noronha Lopes 42 ha Rebfläche seit 2003, davon sind
jeweils 35 ha mit roten Trauben und 7 ha mit weißen Trauben
angepflanzt. Die für den Alentejo relevanten Rebsorten spielen
hier eine priveligierte Rolle, um die für den Alentejo typischen
Weine herzustellen.

The Menéres family produces at QUINTA DO ROMEU, since 1874,
Port and DOC Douro wines on its 25ha of vineyards planted on
schist soils, 320m above the sea level.
We produce wines with character as Douro’s wines are; they are
fruity, balanced and polished with a freshness derived from the
altitude and cooler nights during the ripening period.
The whole Romeu Estate (with around 5.000ha) is organic
certified, including the vines.
All our varieties are Portuguese and traditional of the Douro
region. We leave out the monotony of the international grapes
most commonly used, featuring our own in organic farming.

Adega de Cantanhede, founded in 1954, is one of the most
reputed wine-producing firms of Portugal, being located in
the demarcated wine-growing area of Bairrada, in the city of
Cantanhede. With about 1200 associated wine-growers and
harvesting about 6-8 million kilos of grapes per year, this firm
is the biggest producer in his region (representing 40 % of the
total production) and certifying about 80% of its production
with appellation Bairrada DOC and Geographical Indication Beira
Atlântico. For the last five years, it has been the market leader
concerning sales of wines with these designations.

Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a family business with a wine tradition
going back four generations. Our vineyards are planted on the
unique soils of Fernando Pó, the best area of Palmela which
produces some of the region’s top wines. We produce ten million
litres of high quality wine per year, marketed around the world
under the brands Dom Campos, Terras do Pó, Dona Ermelinda,
Casa Ermelinda Freitas, Quinta da Mimosa and Leo d’Honor. We are
one of the most awarded wineries in Portugal over the last ten
years with more than 400 awards to our name.

With a vineyards area of 1100 hectares and an average annual
grape production of about ten thousands tons, 74% red and 26%
white. The red varities are: Castelão (Periquita) 70% and Touriga
Nacional, Aragonez and Cabernet Sauvignon amongst others. As
for the whites, the majority are Fernão Pires 40% and Muscat
25%, Tamarez, Arinto, Antão Vaz, and Chardonnay making up the
remaining 35%.
The winery produces a wide variety of wines – Regional, Selected
Harvest and Vintage wines, as well as specialities like Muscat, Eau
de Vie and Sparkling wines.

Joao Barbosa comes from generations of family deeply rooted in
the wine industry. Bearing the same name as his grandfather
and being the oldest of grandsons, Joao demonstrated from an
early age a natural passion for wine and dedication to wine
production.
In 1997 Joao founded his current initiative, Joao M Barbosa, and
extended his dream of creating fine wines.
Drawing on many years of personal experience; the aim is to
produce wines that respect regionality and achieve quality
expected from discerning wine lovers and connoisseurs.
Bringing unique experiences, new grape varieties and blends to
the region has provided surprising results which are portrayed
in the concept of the (im)possible “blue rose” emblem.

The Dão region is located in province of Beira Alta, in the North
of Central Portugal, protected by the mountains of Caramulo,
Montemuro, Bussaco and Estrela.
The majority of the vineyards are planted between 450 and 600
meters high, in granite soils, producing wines that age well in the

The history of Favaios is lost in time. Its name stems from “Flavius”,
an ancient Roman settlement that used to belong thee territory of
Panóias. And its development accompanied our dynasties. It was
in this town in the Demarcated Douro Region that, since 1952,
the Favaios Cooperative Wine Cellar became on of the largest and
most renowned in the country due to unmistakable quality of its
Aperitivo and Moscatel de Favaios.

Lima Smith Lda., A partnership between brazilian
entrepreneur Marcelo Lima and former foreign correspondent
and editor Tony Smith, acquired Quinta de Covela in July, 2011.
Following the success of their first wines, the partners expanded
upriver in the D.O.C. Douro region, acquiring Quinta da Boavista and
Quinta das Tecedeiras. Covela produces high-end, organic vinhos
verdes (using Avesso and Arinto grapes) and red and white wines
admired for their elegance, longevity and food-pairing qualities.
Tecedeiras, on the douro’s left bank, is known for its beautifullystructured, somewhat austere reds and fresh, vigorous ports.
At the first Lima Smith wines from Boavista, a most emblematic
douro quinta forever associated with Baron Forrester, will only be
released in 2015. Expect top-notch D.O.C. Wines and ports.

A single goal: to produce the best wine, true to its roots.
The adventure began in 2004, when Gonçalo Sousa Lopes and Rui
Walter Cunha embarked on the production of auteur wines. By

Quinta da Plansel, situated in the south of Portugal, in Alentejo,
is a cellar that offers a special and unique combination between
Wine & Science.
Hans Jörg Böhm, founder of the enterprise started in 1979 his scientific project for plant selection. His daughter, Dorina Lindemann,
a studied winemaker, founded the winery in 1996. Her specialty
is producing wines only made of autochthones Portuguese varieties. We are the only winery in the south uniquely specialized to
work with these varieties. The winery owns 70ha of vineyards
and has a production of 400.000 thousand liters. Our main brands
are Marquês de Montemor and Plansel Selecta.

Vinhos Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito. His
daughter Manuela continued his work in the 70s. In the mid-90s
she turned over the reins of the company to her son, Ricardo

The Casa Agrícola Assis Lobo, Lda, was recently established. However, viticulture is deeply rooted in our family from bygone days.
From generation to generation, this noble art has been perfected
and adapted to the demands of those who appreciate and judge
it. Having as of the utmost priority the high quality of our wines,
only grapes from our vineyards, situated in the most privileged
and noblest areas of the region of Palmela, as are Lau, Fonte da
Barreira, Poceirão and Fernando Pó, are used. Headquarters and
sales office at our old wine cellar in the historic centre of Palmela, where we store our wines in stone recipients, during at least
5 months. Also here in this place we present and promote our
wines. Our new vinification centre, created in 2004 is located at
Fernando Pó (one of the noblest vineyard areas of Palmela).

The oldest historical records of the Quinta da Rede Estate are from
1484. It has been part of the Douro Wine Region even before the
demarcation of 1756.
The Quinta is overlooking the Douro river, on the right bank,
between Mesão Frio and Régua, at an altitude between 90 to
140 meters. It is renowned for being the place where in the past
fishing nets (meaning of Rede) stretched from one side to the
other across the Douro.
The Quinta da Rede Estate belongs to the area of the magnificent
Douro’s vineyard landscape that has been recognized by UNESCO
as World Heritage.

winemaking Tradition. Nowadays the production area reaches a
total of 200 hectares of Vineyards divided in 4 estates between
the Vinho Verde region and the Alentejo Region. Since the

Quinta da Casaboa, located in Runa, 40 Km to the west of Lisbon,
has been owned by three generations of the Ferreira dos Santos
family, and dedicated to the production and bottling of wine.
Originally from the 18th century, the Quinta da Casaboa, with
an area of 120 Hectares, was purchased in 1958 by João Ferreira
dos Santos, a Mozambique entrepreneur. In 2004, the company
was restructured and its rationale changed with the objective to

Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal produces quality wines since
the beginning of the 20th century. The Company is still in the
hands of the same family who renewed and expanded its vines,
now covering about 100 hectares in three estates: Quinta das
Cerejeiras, Quinta do Sanguinhal and Quinta de São Francisco.
It also modernised production and bottling facilities although
preserving the traditional ageing process in wooden barrels.

The vineyards of Quinta da Sapeira are located on gentle hills
and red clay soil, in Azoia; a small rural village near Leiria in the
Estremadura Region.
Inês Bernardino is the 3th generation of a family of wine growers.
The connection with old tradition of this vine growing farm, the
choice of good Portuguese grape varieties (Touriga Nacional,
Castelão, Aragonez, Alfrocheiro, Fernão Pires and Arinto), the
unique microclimate and soil, have a strong influence on the final
product.

Soc. Agric. Quinta do Conde is a wine-growing estate owned
by the Santos Lima family for several generations, located in
Alenquer, near Lisbon. The vineyards are planted in gentle slopes
with excellent sun exposition and smooth climate, and only
selected grapes are used for making its wines. In 2005, the first
brand was produced - 2Uvas – which was immediately a great
success, and brands as Galodoiro, Estacas, Escapada, Quinta Vista

Quinta do Mondego is a family owned estate in the Dão
Demarcated Region, one of the most important wine regions
in Portugal. We started producing wines in 2003 with the help
of the co-owner and winemaker Joana Cunha and Francisco
(Xito) Olazabal winemaker of Quinta do vale Meão and Quinta do
Vallado. The 20 hectares of vineyards are spread on the banks of
the river from which the Quinta is named, the River Mondego.
Touriga Nacional, considered the best Portuguese grape variety,
represents 60% of the propriety.

Quinta do Pinto is a family owned estate committed to produce
premium wines with the expression of the Portuguese
grapes within an international approach. The dominant red
grape varieties are the Portuguese national and regional
varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Miúda and Alfrocheiro and the
international Cabernet, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The whites

Sivipa S.A. was established in 1964 by a group of winegrowers
that got together with the aim of bottling the wines from their
productions. In the 1990s one the families with greater tradition
in the production of Palmela wines, the Cardoso family, joined the
company.
Through their 400 hectares of vineyards and production volume
of around two million liters per year, they were able to provide
greater homogeneity to the wines. Now the companie is one
of the biggest Palmela wine companies, with a lot of medals in
national and international contests.

In a country steeped in winemaking history, the name Mouchão is
synonymous with wines of distinction. The family owned estate
has been producing wine for over a hundred years and maintains
the traditions established in 1901 when the winery was built.
The distinctive character of Mouchão wines derives from three
principal characteristics: the Alicante Bouschet grape, the specific
terroir and adherence to traditional winemaking methods. At
Mouchão grapes are hand-picked, foot trodden in marble cement
lining lagares and the wine aged in five thousand liters vats.
Mouchão wines are renowned for their longevity, maturing
subtly as they age.

Situated in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, this palace-like 18th
century house has become a landmark, not only for its beauty but
also for its history and the quality of the wine produced there.
Wine has been produced in this estate, for over 130 years, but it
was at the start of the new millennium that Júlio Bastos starts this
new project, DONA MARIA WINES.
The ancient estate winery was restored and extended, equipped
with the best and most modern technology, although keeping
the famous “lagares” where selected grapes are vinified using
the traditional foot treading method. Nowadays, the winery
produces 360.000 bottles, but the final objective will be a total
production of 500.000 bottles per year, of top quality wines.

The Quinta de Marrocos estate is located on the left bank of the
Douro river, at the very heart of the Lower Corgo, with traditional
vines, where the region’s principal noble grape varieties
predominate. The estate boasts granite presses where the grapes
are still pressed by foot, and cellars where the wine is aged in
wooden barrels, vats and casks, imbuing the Port and Douro wine

Founded in 1944, CAVES DO CASALINHO, S.A is one of the oldest

wine (vinho verde) made mainly by grapes taste loureiro, is ready

astringgency and acidity, full-bodied, balanced, slightly sparkled,

vinhos verdes (DOC), gold medal 2008 and the national prize

Quinta da Devesa is located in Douro region in Northern Portugal,
part facing Douro Valley with an excellent sun exposure, and part
facing the Corgo river receiving natural cold winds from the North.
This exposure diversity causes different grape maturation levels,
allowing harvest timing in optimal conditions, and producing
great Douro wines with differentiated characteristics and
evolutions. Since 1941, harvests considered of superior quality
by family winemakers, were kept and stored in wooden barrels in
winery cellars. These extraordinary quality wines are used today
to produce Quinta da Devesa Port Wines, as the 40 Years awarded
Premium Gold Medal at Berliner Wein Trophy 2013.

Casa de Cello is a family’s winegrower business for 4 generations.
It was in the 80’s that one of the owners, João Pedro Araujo, began
to professionalize and modernise Casa de Cello’s activity. He did
the reorganization of the existing structure and implanted the
best viticultural and oenological technologies, to get the optimal
expressions of its “terroirs” in the wine.
- Quinta da Vegia, in Dão region, near Penalva de Castelo, has 20
ha of vineyard. The grape varieties are: Touriga-Nacional, Tinta
Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Tinto Cão.
- Quinta de Sanjoanne, in the middle of “Entre-Douro e Minho”,
near Amarante, has 14 ha of vineyards. The grape varieties are:
Arinto, Alvarinho, Loureiro, Avesso and Malvasia Fina.

Quinta dos Roques is a family wine company, producing wines
only from indigenous grapes grown in its properties. For over
a century vines and wines have been parts of the everyday life
of our family. In 1980 we decided to turn a page in our history
and a project to produce high-quality Dao wine was introduced.
Following the renewal of our vineyards we built a new “Adega”,
combining modernity with tradition; science /technology with
art. We have around 40 hectares of vineyards. Touriga Nacional
and Jaen predominate in the reds and Encruzado and Malvasia
Fina in the whites.

slowly...” HACIENDA BRANCA is a 80ha private vineyard and
private winery. The Estate is located in Vidigueira, Alentejo region,

We are an innovative, forward thinking, ambitious and growing
commercial vineyard in the heart of the Alentejo region,
Portugal, that has as main activity the production of quality
wine(using Portuguese grapes, some of them indigenous to the
Vidigueira region). Our white wines are based on the traditional
Antão Vaz grape, complemented with monovarietal grapes like
Verdelho or Alvarinho, and combined in their turn with Arinto
and Síria to create distinctive variations. There is also a small
vineyard plot exceptionally dedicated to the Chenin Blanc grape
variety originating from du Loire Valley. Our red wines derive
their different characters from Aragonez, Trincadeira, Alicante
Bouschet ,Tinta Miuda and Touriga Nacional grapes. These wines
excel by their individuality, seasoned with the special taste of the
Alentejo region.

Herdade Fonte Paredes was born from the love of a family for the
Alentejo region. Their commitment, perseverance, dedication and
faith on their land brought to life a long forgotten property in Avis,
Alto Alentejo. From the 400 hectares available only 100 hectares
are currently planted to a collection of varieties that were deemed
appropriate for the regional conditions. The slopes and exposure of the
unique ranges are blessed with clay/carbonate soils which the grapes

Herdade do Perdigão is located in the heart of Alto Alentejo, in
the small Roman village of Monforte. The winery sits on the
S. Mamede mountain with it’s own unique “Terroir” and micro
climate. This combined with indigenous Alentejano varietals
allow us to produce distinct and differentiated wines. The
Estate was bought by Mr. Carlos Gonçalves in 2003. There was
a total renovation and expansion of the winery with the best
technological equipment. Herdade do Perdigão is included in Rota
dos Vinhos Alentejanos – S. Mamede Route. The winery is open
for visits, tastings and purchases can be made.

Paço do Conde group comprising several companies of Castelo
Branco brothers, currently operates 4,000 acres of farmland in
lower Alentejo. Among the banks of the river Guadiana and soils
of Beja, Castelo Branco brothers explore properties covered with
typical vegetation, vines and olive groves.
Since 2002, Paço do Conde state, produces wines in the southern
Alentejo with a modern winery, touched by the traditional
construction method from Alentejo from a century ago. Made
under the technical direction of winemaker Rui Reguinga, wines
result from harmonious combination between domestic and

the Alto Alentejo, with most of their grapes supplied from their
own 3 vineyards. T D’A have a wines based on 4 ranges. Firstly
a regional red, white and rose from high in the Alto Alentejo.
One of the strongest ranges of Portugues varietial wines in the
country, a Reserva white and red incorporating grapes from older
vineyards and extensive barrel time. Finally our premium range
based on a vineyard section where the soil “terroir” has a large in
influence on the wine. Peter Bright is a partner and in charge of

Herdade dos Grous belongs to the Pohl family, the estate has
700 hectares, 73 of which are dedicated to top quality Wine
production and the remains to organic horticultural production,
olive groves, farming, cattle raising and breeding champion
jumping horses. Here we seek to marry the most traditional
methods with new technologies maintaining an ethical and
transparent path and guided by the protection and preservation
of nature. Sustainability and nature are the foundations of this
project. Our mission is to produce great wines, which result from
the most modern viticulture and oenology, selecting the typical
Alentejo varieties that are better adapted to our terroir, such as
Antão Vaz or Aragonêz, and also other international varieties

The States of Monte da Ribeira and Herdadinha both belong to
the Leal da Costa Family, which can be traced back to the Count of
Ervideira, a sucessfull farmer who lived between 19th and 20th
centuries. The Count, who received his nobel title from king Carlos
I in recognition for is social work in the region, began producing
wine in 1880, as one can see in the bottles the company proudly
exhibits in this wine tasting room. With 160 ha of vineyards, divided between the Vidigueira and Reguengos estates, Ervideira’s
administration is held by the family matriarch D. Maria Isabel and
her six children, being Duarte Leal da Costa the executive director.

The grapes from the 55 ha of vineyards, in HERDADE DA CAPELA,
are growing from soils with the much desired (wine-wise!) poor
fertility. The other ingredients behind the wine unique character
are strongly sloped vineyards, the particular climate, the

do not need to “force” concentration in this terroir: it just comes
out naturally.

da Bombeira decided to plant a composition of Portuguese and
French grape varieties, in an area with privileged soils which
anticipated a “terroir” of very high potential.

The estate has a wine heritage dating back to 1795 and is located
no far from the Spanish borders, southern Alentejo. In the
excellent Moura region, the Figueira de Chaves with their great
passion for wine, their love for the countryside and using only
organic farming practises have made Medeiros nowadays free of
pesticides and herbicides. Maintaining the natural surroundings
and wilderness untouched, is a natural sanctuary for animal
and different species of birds that migrate every year. Different
expositions to the sun, a cool Atlantic breeze (Ares) and the
granitic, schist and sandy soils have allowed to make unique
wines with distinctions and longevity, that have achieved

Roquevale is one of the largest private Alentejo wine producer,

Évora. Joana Roque do Vale grand-father set up his estate in the

Monte da Ravasqueira has been linked to the José de Mello family
for several generations. Located in the municipality of Arraiolos,
Portugal, the estate occupies a vast area of typical Alentejan
landscape. It is managed by Sociedade Agrícola D. Diniz, SA. The
excellent geological conditions and the climate are well suited
to the production of some of the best wine in Alentejo. A great
deal has been invested in planting vines and also in modern
winemaking equipment and in meteorological and plant-health
facilities. Investment has also been directed at the infrastructures
of an ambitious oenotourism project, production of cork, olive oil
and honey.

The vineyards of QUINTA DE CHOCAPALHA are situated in the
sunny hillsides of the Lisboa Wine Region, northeast of Lisbon.
They have been referred to as having excellent vineyards and
wines since the 16th century. Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva
acquired the property in the 80’s and since then important
improvements have taken place in the 45 hectares of vineyards,
continuing the old tradition of this vine growing estate, always
looking for better quality and reputation of its wines. Under the
oenological direction of their daughter, Sandra Tavares da Silva,
the wines are an example of the extraordinary terroir of Lisboa

Quinta do Monte d’Oiro (literally ‘Hill of Gold Estate’) is located 50
km up north of Lisbon. Passionate about food and the Rhône,
José Bento dos Santos (the estate’s owner and former President
of the International Academy of Gastronomy) had no choice but
to make wines with a unique robust character, perfect to match
either classical, haute or modern cuisine (the wines can be
found @ e.g. Alain Ducasse’s restaurants). From 2006 on, José’s
close friend Michel Chapoutier helped him enabling marked
improvement in the production process (namely by implementing
organic winegrowing procedures), which is nowadays monitored
by Grégory Viennois (former Chapoutier’s chief winemaker,
presently at Laroche Wines).

The farm where Julia Kemper’s wine is produced has been in Júlia
de Melo Kemper’s family throughout several centuries.
In the Dão region, the farm sits on a plateau sheltered on three
sides by the granite mountain ranges of Serra da Estrela, Serra
do Caramulo, Buçaco and Serra da Nave. These mountains protect
the castas from maritime and continental influences.
The region experiences abundant rainfall in the winter and dry
summers until harvest season. The wine Julia Kemper is produced
with nothing but with organic grapes. To an old cellar from the
XIX century (rebuild) we added the best modern technology
including to respect the environment.

Quinta Vale do Armo was born when a hotel group decided to
produce fine wine to their clients. The land was bought and the
cellar was built in a region with a micro-climate ideal for the
production of fine wine.
With excellent quality the wines were accepted by wine experts
and started to win awards.
With 60 ha of vineyards the harvest is carefully prepared, held
in the morning, so that the grapes arrive as fresh as possible to
the cellar. Equipped with the latest technology, the cellar has the
capacity for the production of half a million bottles annually.

Located 80 kilometres to the north of Lisbon, on the left bank
of the river Tagus, Casa Cadaval belongs to the Álvares Pereira
de Melo (Casa Cadaval) family since 1648. With a total of 5400
hectares, the vineyards currently in production occupy an area
of about 42 hectares, spread across 37 hectares of red varieties

Quinta da Lapa was established in 1733, in a unique spot, the
finest terroir amid the rolling hills of what is known today as the
Tejo region.
The estate’s unique “terroir” shows in the wines of Quinta da Lapa
through their outstanding freshness and aging potential. In 1989,
the vineyards were refurbished, the finest local varieties like the
red Castelão, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional and the rare white
Tamarez were preserved and new international varietals like
Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon were planted.
In 2010, Portugal’s National Contest for Bottled Wines has
awarded “Quinta da Lapa Red 2008 Reserve” with the prize of
Best Wine in Contest.

Sociedade Agrícola Casal do Conde has 160 hectares of the best
land of the Tagus Valley, of which 75ha are allocated to vineyards.

30 years, first as consultant oenologist of well-known wines, and
since 1992 as a producer. The successes achieved and prizes won
by these wines throughout his career have brought him national

Alentejo was the region elected to produce his first wines,

Our family has been working in viniculture and wine growing
for several generations. We currently explore over 170 hectares
divided in two properties in central Portugal: Quinta de S. Mateus
and Quinta de Vale d’ Azar. Situated on Quinta de S. Mateus, our
new wine cellar (September 2004) produces 300.000 bottles a
year. The wine is produced without any pumps at all (there’s a
18m height difference between the entrance of the grapes and
the presses), it’s only used the robot pigeuer, without remontage,
without using any yeasts, enzymes or bacteria. We seek Bairrada
DOC Certification for all our wines, so that we can proudly carry
the name of our land, far and wide.

Herdade Grande is an agricultural property located about 5 Km
from Vidigueira/Alentejo, comprising 350 hectares: 60 hectares
of vineyard, 40 of olive grove, and the remainder serves as
pasture land for sheep.
This property has been in the same family for almost a hundred
years, having been purchased in 1920, with its vineyards and
olive groves. The current owner, who is the company manager
and head of wine production, was born here and has a degree in
Agronomic Engineering from the Higher Institute of Agronomy.

Casa Senhorial do Reguengo is a family estate winery exclusively
dedicated to premium sparkling wine based in Vinho Verde. This
project was born from the will and dream of the owners to create
a premium sparkling wine elaborated form the grapes of Vinho
Verde, something that until then had not been done in the region.
Our sparklings have unique characteristics, legacy of the fresh
and fragrant wines from Vinho Verde which are the base of our
sparklings.

Conceito wines benefit from a micro-climate that set them apart
from the rest of Douro Superior. The Teja valley is cooler than
average Douro Superior, with a yearly average 2ºC lower (around
13ºC), but with sharper differences during critical stages of the
growing cycle
Also our vines are in one of the driest area of the Douro, with an
average annual rainfall that rarely exceeds 400 Mm.
Winemaker Rita Ferreira leaned globetrotting in Bordeaux,
California, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Douro, where
she worked with word renowned oenologists such as Denis
Dubourdieu, Dirk Niepoort, Bruce Jack, George Geris, Marketta
Formeaux.

João Cabral de Almeida Vinhos, Lda is a small company that
produces wine in two different Portuguese wine regions: Vinho
Verde and Lisboa.
We aim to produce wines that show the essence of those regions,
searching the grape varieties that are more adapted to those
terroirs.
Therefore we produce Camaleão, a single varietal Sauvignon Blanc
from the region of Lisboa, and a single varietal Loureiro from the
Vinhos Verdes region. Both are wines from specific terroirs where
we think these varieties can show all their potential.

VADIO is located at the Poutena village in the BAIRRADA region.
It is a small family project that has as an essential element the
recovery of BAIRRADA’s traditional grape varieties and the
production of authentic DOC BAIRRADA wines. We have two
very distinct vineyard blocks and an old warehouse that we have
adapted in a very simple manner for the production of wine. Our
wines present a very classic style that intends to respect the
authenticity of the region and it´s character.

We are one of the most important producers in the Tejo region.
We bottle limited production vintages from our vineyard
properties located in alluvial sandy clay soil, the best in the
Ribatejo Marshland. The Tagus River proximity, allied with subMediterranean temperate climate, provides our vintages with
their own specific identity. This identity is reflected in both the
palate and aromas of our vintages which are very rich in fruit
tones.

José Guilherme Macieira established his company in 1865 to
sell wines and spirits. In 1885, his son, that studied oenology in
France, started producing the “cognac Macieira”, as it was called
those days. The brand immediately became successful and
symbolised the “connoisseurs” choice. Fernando Pessoa, the
Portuguese poet, always ordered Macieira, in its daily coffee shop.

Quinta da Alorna is a winery from the Tejo wine region.
It combines a long tradition of wine growing and modern
winemaking techniques. The estate was established in 1723 by D.
Pedro de Almeida, viceroy of India and the 1st Marquis of Alorna.
It has now the largest vineyard of the Tejo region (255 hectares), a
wide variety of grapes and several nationally and internationally
recognized wines. In 2013 Martta Reis Simões received the award
of best young winemaker of Portugal by W Awards. Quinta da
Alorna exports around 50% of its production to 25 markets such
as US, UK, Sweden, Netherlands.
