Terras de Alter is based in new concept winery at Fronteira in
the Alto Alentejo, with most of their grapes supplied from their
own 3 vineyards. T D’A have a wines based on 4 ranges. Firstly
a regional red, white and rose from high in the Alto Alentejo.
One of the strongest ranges of Portugues varietial wines in the
country, a Reserva white and red incorporating grapes from older
vineyards and extensive barrel time. Finally our premium range
based on a vineyard section where the soil “terroir” has a large in
influence on the wine. Peter Bright is a partner and in charge of
the winemaking.

The “Monte Branco” winery is located in Estremoz, small city in

In a country steeped in winemaking history, the name Mouchão is
synonymous with wines of distinction. The family owned estate
has been producing wine for over a hundred years and maintains
the traditions established in 1901 when the winery was built.
The distinctive character of Mouchão wines derives from three
principal characteristics: the Alicante Bouschet grape, the specific terroir and adherence to traditional winemaking methods.
At Mouchão grapes are hand picked, foot trodden in stone lagares
and the wine aged in five thousand litre vats. Mouchão wines are
renowned for their longevity, maturing subtly as they age.

The States of Monte da Ribeira and Herdadinha both belong to
the Leal da Costa Family, which can be traced back to the Count of
Ervideira, a sucessfull farmer who lived between 19th and 20th
centuries. The Count, who received his nobel title from king Carlos
I in recognition for is social work in the region, began producing
wine in 1880, as one can see in the bottles the company proudly
exhibits in this wine tasting room. With 160 ha of vineyards, divided between the Vidigueira and Reguengos estates, Ervideira’s
administration is held by the family matriarch D. Maria Isabel and
her six children, being Duarte Leal da Costa the executive director.

the owner of Herdade do Rocim, which is the estate in the Low
Alentejo Wine Region responsible for the production of the wines
“Mariana”, “Rocim”, “Olho de Mocho”and “Grande Rocim”, and also
owns Vale da Mata vineyard, responsible for the wines “Vale da
Mata”, produced in the Lisbon Wine Region, more specifically in

Medeiros resulted of the determination, passion and dedication
of its owner. Visiting the Serpa region, António Chaves decided to
change, sold his city business and planted vineyards. Located in
the historical wine region of Alentejo with ideal climate and soil, it
is also a natural sanctuary for birds and animals. The family is not
only dedicated to producing the best wine possible, but it strives
to protect and maintain its natural surroundings and wilderness.
Its two dams are the habitat of fish, turtles, otters, crabfish and
a variety of birds like duck, teal, stork, woodpigeon, doves, quail,
cormorant among others.

wine writer Richard Mayson and Award-winning Portuguese
oenologist Rui Reguinga. We are specializing in wines from a single estate in the Serra de S. Mamede,a mountainous corner of the

Torre do Frade is a family-run agricultural holding situated in
the municipality of Monforte, in the heart of the Alto Alentejo in
south-east Portugal, close to the frontier with Spanish Extremadura. The history of the estate dates back to 1384, when the original owner gave the land to the Friars of the Order of St. Agostinho.
In the family since 1839 the Estate has allways been Agriculture
oriented, Cattle, Cereals, Forest and since 2000 vineyards. The
Torre do Frade project began with the 2004 vintage.

With a vineyards area of 1100 hectares and an average annual
grape production of about seven thousands tons, 74% red and
26% white. The red varities are: Castelão (Periquita) 94% and
Touriga Nacional, Aragonês and Cabernet Sauvignon amongst
others. As for the whites, the majority are Fernão Pires 40% and
Muscat 25%, Tamarez, Arinto, Antão Vaz, and Chardonnay making up the remaining 35%.
The winery produces a wide variety of wines – Regional, Selected
Harvest and Vintage wines, as well as specialities like Muscat, Eau
de Vie and Sparkling wines.

Founded in 1955, the Adega de Borba, was the first of a series of
producers settled in the Alentejo region, promoted and helped
by the “Junta Nacional do Vinho” a public organization that controlled and supervised the wine production in Portugal, at a time
in which the wine production didn’t carry much weight in the
region. This action allowed the creation of a commercial and productive organization for the Alentejo wines, otherwise the vine
culture could have completely disappear because all the existence
incentives at that time were for the production of cereals in order
to transform Alentejo in “the granary” of Portugal.

Established in 1775 Casal Branco is an Estate owned since then by
the Braamcamp Sobral Lobo de Vasconcellos family. Located 70
km north from Lisbon, it has 1.100 ha and is one of the most important estates in the Ribatejo region. In its activity we stand out
agriculture, forest, wine production and Lusitano horses breeding. Regarding the winemaking Casal Branco has been always on
the front of pioneering techniques being one good example the

Quinta da Alorna is a wine company of the Tejo region which
combines a long tradition of wine production and modern wine
production techniques. The property was established in 1723 by
D. Pedro de Almeida, viceroy of Portugal in India and the 1st Marquis of Alorna. It has now the largest vineyard of the Tejo region, a
wide variety of grapes and several nationally and internationally

Quinta da Devesa is located in the demarcated Douro region, in
the North of Portugal, 10 miles away from Peso da Régua. With
34 hectares planted with the grape varieties recommended for

Situated in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, this palace-like
18th century house has become a landmark, not only for its beauty but also for its history and the quality of the wine produced
there.
Wine has been produced in this estate, for over 130 years, but it
was at the start of the new millennium that Júlio Bastos starts this
new project, DONA MARIA WINES.
The ancient estate winery was restored and extended, equipped
with the best and most modern technology, although keeping the
famous “lagares” where selected grapes are vinified using the traditional foot treading method.

João Portugal Ramos is linked to Portuguese wines for more than
20 years, first as consultant oenologist of well known wines, and

Vinhos Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito. His
daughter Manuela continued his work in the 70s. In the mid-90s
she turned over the reins of the company to her son, Ricardo
Freitas. He not only brought a deep respect for Madeira’s classical

The winery “Adega da Covilhã” was founded on the 24th of
February 1954, at the time by 147 associates. The first vintage
dates back to 1957. During its first years the winery dealt mostly
in selling bulk wines, however there were some attempts made
to bottle its best wines, which was proven difficult by the lack of
technology available at the time. It was only in the mid 70´s when
a bet was made in a semi-automatic bottling line that there was
an increase in the quantity and quality of the wines.

Founded in 1944, CAVES DO CASALINHO, S.A is one of the oldest
wine production companies in the Vinho Verde Region. In the

With a farming and winemaking tradition of 130 years old, the
Cancela de Abreu family has records of this activity since 1884.
Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas was founded in 1991, when
Nuno Cancela de Abreu, decided to use his vast experience in the
wine trade and produce single estate wines in the Dão region –
Quinta da Giesta and Quinta da Fonte do Ouro.
In 2010, a strategic redefinition leads the company to produce for
the first time out of the Dão region. We went to Alentejo – Quinta
do Garro, and to Península de Setúbal – Herdade de Gâmbia. The

The Pato family has been producing wine on Quinta do Ribeirinho
since, at least, the eighteen century.
Nowadays, the area of vineyards owned by Luis Pato’s family is 60
hectares. The vineyards used to produce red wine (and the rose
sparkling wine) occupy 64% of the mentioned area. The remaining area produces grapes to the white and sparkling wine. The exclusive use of Portuguese grape varieties includes Baga, Tinto Cão
and Touriga Nacional (red grape varieties), and Maria Gomes, Bical,
Cerceal, Sercialinho and Arinto (white grape varieties).

The history of Favaios is lost in time. Its name stems from “Flavius”, an ancient Roman settlement that used to belong thee territory of Panóias. And its development accompanied our dynasties.

Morgado da Torre, one of the oldest farming properties in the
Portimão Council - ALGARVE, has belonged to the Mendes family
since 1865, and today has na area of 162 hectares. The morgado
da Torre Winery was established in 1999. It was the first winery
in the Algarve to produce wines at its own estate with a controlled
origin name (DOC). The soul of these estate wines lies in the grape

José Guilherme Macieira established his company in 1865 to
sell wines and spirits. In 1885, his son, that studied oenology in
France, started producing the “cognac Macieira”, as it was called
those days. The brand immediately became successful and symbolised the “connoisseurs” choice. Fernando Pessoa, the Portuguese poet, always ordered Macieira, in its daily coffee shop.
During the 40`s, the first bottles were shipped to Brazil, to be
drunk by the Portuguese emigrants. Macieira took advantage of
its notoriety and perceived quality and built its high quality reputation among brasilians too.

Herdade Grande is an agricultural property located about 5 Km
from Vidigueira/Alentejo, comprising 350 hectares: 60 hectares

Our family has been working in viniculture and wine growing
for several generations. We currently explore over 170 hectares
divided in two properties in central Portugal: Quinta de S. Mateus
and Quinta de Vale d’ Azar.
Situated on Quinta de S. Mateus, our new wine cellar (September
2004) produces 300.000 bottles a year. The wine is produced
without any pumps at all (there’s a 18m height difference between the entrance of the grapes and the presses), it’s only used

Our family has been working in viniculture and wine growing
for several generations. We currently explore over 170 hectares
divided in two properties in central Portugal: Quinta de S. Mateus
and Quinta de Vale d’ Azar.
Situated on Quinta de S. Mateus, our new wine cellar (September
2004) produces 300.000 bottles a year. The wine is produced
without any pumps at all (there’s a 18m height difference between the entrance of the grapes and the presses), it’s only used
the robot pigeuer, without remontage, without using any yeasts,
enzymes or bacteria.

Berry’s and Viteno created this partnership with the purpose of
selling high quality wine.
Viteno was born in 1993 by two partners, José Ferrão and Carlos
Magalhães. They were helping small producers making wine all

Embedded between the World Cultural Heritage of Sintra and the
rocky tip of Europe’s most westerly landmark (Roca Cape), lies
uniquely situated high above the Atlantic Ocean the vineyard and
winery Casal Santa Maria.
The vineyards are planted in the historical Wine Region of Colares

The oldest historical records of the Quinta da Rede Estate are from
1484. It has been part of the Douro Wine Region even before the
demarcation of 1756.
The Quinta is overlooking the Douro river, on the right bank, between Mesão Frio and Régua, at an altitude between 90 to 140
meters. It is renowned for being the place where in the past fishing nets (meaning of Rede) stretched from one side to the other
across the Douro.
The Quinta da Rede Estate belongs to the area of the magnificent
Douro’s vineyard landscape that has been recognized by UNESCO
as World Heritage.

The first historic references of Quinta da Pellada go back to the
year of 1570. Alvaro de Castro is a civil engineer who inherited
this property in 1980; at the time he decided that to make something out of the estate, he had to give it full time attention. Rapidly

The Quinta (estate) enjoys the perfect characteristics for the production of high quality wines. The vines are mainly south facing,
planted in terraces and organised by variety. Traditional vines
have been kept, with 4 hectares of old vines being maintained.
The principal varieties are Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.
The soil is all of class A standard., the highest attributable grade
within the demarcated region of the Douro. The company is run
by the Agrellos family who own two Quintas in the region. They
produce the MARKA wine brand.

Making frontier with some of the most important and recognized
Douro wine properties, Quinta de Cottas is the story of the conversion of a property driven by Isabel and Pedro Carmo passion
and enthusiasm for wine and the Douro Region.
The property with an area of 10ha as a plot of old vines with 16
different grape varieties with an age about 50 years old and, in order to preserve the genetic heritage of the region, new vineyards
divided into homogeneous plots of Douro traditional grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta
Roriz, Tinta Francisca and Sousão on red grapes and Viosinho,
Arinto, Rabigato, Codega do Larinho and Gouveio on white grapes.

Sivipa S.A. was established in 1964 by a group of winegrowers
that got together with the aim of bottling the wines from their
productions. In the 1990s one the families with greater tradition
in the production of Palmela wines, the Cardoso family, joined the
company.
Through their 400 hectares of vineyards and production volume
of around two million liters per year, they were able to provide
greater homogeneity to the wines. Now the companie is one of
the biggest Palmela wine companies, with a lot of medals in national and international contests.

Was in honor of Domingos Damasceno de Carvalho that the

Quinta da Mata Fidalga is a boutique producer of still and sparkling
wines from the Bairrada region in Portugal. In our 23 ha winery
we cultivate mainly autochthonous grapes using the Integrated
Protection System, which minimizes the use of chemicals and
helps to protect the environment. In 2012 our QMF Red won the
tender in Sweden for Bairrada wines and ours Sparkling QMF
White and Sparkling QMF Red won the tenders in Norway for Portuguese Sparkling wines. We are currently looking to develop new
partnerships with importers in other countries.

The appeal of the wine and its consumption depend greatly on
its quality. The Arruda region, naturally gifted with wine producing characteristics and an age-old wine making tradition, could
not allow the wasrage of such a valuable heritage, so it was only
natural that suitable organization should bo formed with a view

Quinta da Casaboa, located in Runa, 40 Km to the west of Lisbon,
has been owned by three generations of the Ferreira dos Santos
family, and dedicated to the production and bottling of wine.
Originally from the 18th century, the Quinta da Casaboa, with an
area of 120 acres, was purchased in 1958 by João Ferreira dos Santos, a Mozambique entrepreneur. In 2004, the company was restructured and its rationale changed with the objective to become
a producer of quality wines.

Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal produces quality wines since
the beginning of the 20th century. The Company is still in the
hands of the same family who renewed and expanded its vines,
now covering about 100 hectares in three estates: Quinta das
Cerejeiras, Quinta do Sanguinhal and Quinta de São Francisco. It
also modernised production and bottling facilities although preserving the traditional ageing process in wooden barrels.

Soc. Agric. Quinta do Conde is a wine-growing estate owned by
the Santos Lima family for several generations, located in Alenquer, near Lisbon. The vineyards are planted in gentle slopes with
excellent sun exposition and smooth climate, and only selected
grapes are used for making its wines. In 2005, the first brand was
produced - 2Uvas – which was immediately a great success, and
brands as Galodoiro, Estacas, Escapada, Quinta Vista and Vista
Nova have also been launched with great success.
