Company will invest in the port of Linhares
The mining Manabi shall announce the
construction of Porto Norte Capixaba located in
Linhares (Northern of Espírito Santo State). The
letter of intention is ready and will be signed at
Anchieta Palace.
Manabi, still in pre-operational phase, will load at
the terminal the iron ore production from its two
mines, one located in Morro do Pilar and the
other one in Morro Escuro, both in Minas Gerais
States.
The port, in its first phase, will have 21berths,
where will be loaded iron ore, grains, coal,
fertilizer, liquids, being also used as oil platform
supply. The project includes the construction of
two shipyards, with seven berths and two dry
docks.
The terminals of iron ore, coal, fertilizers, grains
and liquids will be located 3 kilometers away from
the coast, connected by two access bridges, one
exclusive for iron ore and another one for
different kind of cargo. The depth of the access
channel is19 meters. The supply terminals
And the shipyards will be built on the internal
navigation channel, 10 meters deep.
The complex will have capacity to store 2.5
million tons of iron ore, 250,000tons of coal,
240,000tons of grain, 180,000tons of fertilizer
and 480,000m3 of liquid cargo.
CPA’s
alcohol
terminal
operation in Paranagua
starts
CP Armazens Gerais, terminal specialized in
handling flammable cargo, has carried out
its first operation in Paranagua, MT Stolt
Sapphire loaded 5000 cubic meters of
ethanol to Ulsan Port, South Korea.
The terminal´s construction was concluded
last year and its expectation is to export
400 thousand cubic meters of ethanol this
year.
According to Persio Souza de Assis, director
of Alcool from Parana Group, Pasa and
CPA, the operation was a success: "The
loading rate was 210 cubic meters per
hour”

Statoil to buy oil rig Maersk in Brazil
The Norwegian company Statoil and Chinese
Sinochem approved the purchase of the Floating,
Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO)
Peregrino, from the Danish Maersk. The unit is in
production in the Peregrino field, in Campos Basin,
since last year.
After a transition period of six months, the
platform will be operated by BW Offshore. The
company was contracted by Statoil for five years;
which can be renewed for more 15 years.
Started in 2007, the FPSO Peregrino project
consisted in the conversion of an oil tanker into a
production platform. The unit, which has storage
capacity of 1.6 million barrels of oil, produced over
15 million barrels during its first year of operation.
In 2010, Statoil sold 40% of the Peregrino field to
Sinochem, keeping 60% of shares.

Tereos search feature in Brazil to invest in
grain
The sugar, ethanol and starch producer,
Tereos
International
announced
a capital
increase operation, in an effort to boost the
company's
activities
related
to
grain
production, said the CEO of the Brazilian
company, Alexis Duval to Reuters.
"One third of the funds will be used for our
project in China, one third for our project with
grain in Brazil and the remaining one for our
European activities with grains," said Duval.
Tereos will spend 30 millions euro to build a
factory in Brazil, Syral Halotek to produce corn
starch for the internal market, which grows
between 10 and 15 per cent per year.
Tereos International became the third producer
of sugar and ethanol in Brazil with his
participation in Guarani, company that also
owned by Petrobras.

Sugar production in Mid-south Falls 18%
The continuous rain of last weeks continues to
delay the crushing of sugar cane harvest
2012/13 in the South-Central region, which
represents 90% of national production of sugar
and ethanol. In the second half of May, the sugar
production reached 1,959 million tons, 18.69%
less than in the same period last year, according
to Industry Union Cane (UNICA).
In the accumulated result of the harvest to June
1st, the production of this commodity reached
3,529 million tons, 26.23% lower than achieved in
the same period last season 2011/12.
The crushing of sugar cane in the second half of
May was 35.6 million tons, 17.62% of decrease. In
the accumulated result of the harvest,
the processing reached 70.7 million tons, 29.61%
lower than 100.4 million tons that had been
processed until the very moment of the season
2011/12.
The numbers in the first half of June might
indicate results even lower, because the amount
of rainfall was more intense. According to Unica’s
interim chief, Antonio de Padua Rodrigues, the
greatest impact of the rain will be observed on the
results of the first half of June.
Paranagua receives ships that are running
away from Santos due to impasse
The lack of decision between port workers in
Santos, the Governing department of Labor
(Ogmo) and the Ministry of Labour (MPT) has
been during two weeks and has started to affect
on berthing of vessels along Brazilian coast.
The Port Administration of Paranagua and
Antonina (APPA) reported that is already feeling
the consequences of the problems to list the
workers in Santos. Several ships are deviating
to Paranagua due to the lack of workers to
perform the services required for discharging the
cargoes at Santos.

1,293 billion liters, 25.52% less than the same
period of the cycle 2011/12. Accumulated in the
crop, the production of biofuel in the SouthCentral reached 2.61 billion, 33.16% lower.
