In order to assist students to personalize
their education, the role of the teacher
shifts from “teacher” to “advisor.” To
advise students successfully requires
empathy, care, and a deep knowledge
of the students, their interests and
their aspirations. Descriptive Inquiry is
a phenomenological method of study
developed to aid teachers in this inquiry
process. The workshop will cover the basics
of the Descriptive Review of the Child,
and explore the ways that this inquiry
process can serve as the foundation for
teacher preparation programs that value
core principles of equity, access, and social
justice.
