Dear Publisher,
Favorite characters endure over generations which is why we love Lars,
the Little Polar Bear. This fall we will publish his latest adventure in an
exciting new look and introduce some brand-new friends including a
dachshund who lives on a submarine and two even smaller bears in need
of rescue. He’s all set to charm a new generation.
We also have two stunning new fairy tales, Cinderella (pages 6/7) and
The Nightingale (pages 8/9). My own personal favorites, the quirky tales
of Emma (page 12) and Achoo! (page 13), a very sweet little story about a
rabbit with a cold.
As usual we look forward to seeing you at upcoming book fairs and will
keep you up to date with our e-mail newsletter.
With very best wishes,

L
ars, the Little Polar Bear, is happily playing in the
snow when he spots something unusual in the
bay. It turns out to be a submarine carrying out research
on the melting ice cap. After befriending the ship’s dog
he discovers the crew have found two polar bear babies
and intend to take them back home. Brave little Lars
saves the day and finds some new friends as well.

The Nightingale
lthough this tale isn’t one of Hans Christian Andersen’s best known it is
one of his most engaging. Set in China it tells of an emperor who tries
to keep a nightingale captive at his court so that it will sing just for him until
he learns that a free bird sings more beautifully than a captive one.
Illustrated with lots of color and atmosphere by Pirkko Vainio.
• Classic Andersen retelling
