In the harsh conditions of the Himalayas,
Buddhism often helps people overcome the day to day hardships.
Colourful prayer flags flying in the wind are hanged along many Himalayan mountain ridges.
They are meant to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom.

Richard Vdovjak vyrastal na severnom Slovensku a častými foto potulkami po slovenských horách sa naučil mať rád divokú prírodu a zamiloval si pokoj,
ktorý človek môže nájsť len v horách. Pravdepodobne práve to bolo jeho počiatočnou motiváciou na jeho prvú cestu do odľahlých častí Nepálu v roku
2005. Nepál mu učaroval a po prvej ceste nasledovali ďalšie…
„Majestátne Himalájske štíty určite zapôsobia na každého. S odstupom času sa ale dá povedať, že na mňa najviac zapôsobili príbehy obyčajných ľudí,
ktorí v tejto jedinečnej a krásnej krajine plnej nehostinných dní a v tvrdých podmienkach žijú. Napriek primitívnym podmienkam a každodennej drine,
ktorou je popretkávaný ich život, sú zjavne šťastnejší, ako my so všetkými výdobytkami modernej doby. Ich šťastie možno pramení z toho, že si
nadovšetko cenia tradičné hodnoty ako sú rodina, priateľstvo a viera. Vždy keď sa vraciam do Nepálu, mám pocit, že sa od nich učím dôležitým lekciám
života.“
Richard Vdovjak grew up and spent a good part of his youth roaming and photographing the mountain areas of the northern part of Slovakia. That period
left him with a deep affinity for outdoor pursuits, for wilderness and serenity that only mountains can offer. This was perhaps the initial motivation that has
drawn him to travel for the first time to remote regions of Nepal back in 2005. Nepal has charmed him and other travels to these remote regions soon
followed…

moved by the people living in that unique, beautiful and harsh landscape, by their amazing life stories. Despite all the hardship that they have to endure,

recognition and the genuine appreciation of universal values such as family, friendship, and one’s faith that fuel their happiness. Each time I return to
Nepal, I have the feeling that they teach me important lessons about life. “
Vdovjak Richard wuchs in der nördlichen Slowakei und häufige Foto Reise rund um die slowakischen Berge haben gelernt, die Natur lieben und geliebt
den Frieden, den man nur in den Bergen finden kann. Vielleicht war es gerade seine ursprüngliche Motivation für seine erste Reise in entlegene Teile
von Nepal im Jahr 2005. Nepal fasziniert ihn, und nach der ersten Reise wurde von anderen gefolgt ...

einfachen Leute in dieser einzigartigen und schönen Land voller düster Tage und harte Lebensbedingungen beeindruckt. Trotz der primitiven
Bedingungen und die tägliche Plackerei, die in ihrem Leben verwoben ist, sind anscheinend glücklicher als wir mit all den Vorteilen der Neuzeit sind. Ihr
Glück können aus der Tatsache, dass vor allem durch traditionelle Werte wie Familie, Freundschaft und Glauben geschätzt Stammzellen. Immer wenn
ich nach Nepal zurückkehren, glaube ich, dass, da sie wichtige Lektionen des Lebens zu lehren. "

“Stmieva sa tu rýchlo. Svetlo máš?“ pýta sa ma Sonam Lama, pastier, farmár a otec dvoch synov a troch dcér. “Nemám“. Ostalo v stane. Veď cez deň to
vyzeralo len kúsok – dva možno tri kilometre z nášho tábora cez most ponad skoro-zamrznutú horskú rieku do dedinky Phu. Táto Nepálska dedinka je
od najbližšej civilizácie vzdialená pekných pár dní namáhavého pochodu. Vzdušnou čiarou to je odtiaľto už len pár kilometrov do Tibetu. Tú čiaru ale
blokujú zasnežené Himalájske štíty, niktoré stúpajúc do výšok nad 7000m. Keď som doobeda prichádzal na návštevu do tejto dedinky, netušil som, že
sa zdržím do noci. Netušil som, že sa vrátim až na druhý deň a spriatelím sa s touto rodinou tak, že myšlienkami odtiaľ vlastne nikdy neodídem.
Otvorím dvere von a ovalí ma čierno-čierna tma. Snažím sa presvedčiť Sonama ale hlavne sám seba, že tú cestu do tábora nájdem aj potme. Našťastie
moje odhodlanie pustiť sa do hľadania tábora bez akéhokoľvek svetla nevyznelo príliš presvedčivo a Sonam mi na cestu dáva ich malý lampáš na
baterky, ktorým si doma večer svietia. Cez deň slnko nabije baterky, večer majú pár hodín svetla. Zdráham sa prijať túto ponuku a nechať ich potme.
Sonam mi ale s úsmevom naznačuje, že oni majú ešte oheň v piecke, z ktorej sa do útulnej izbietky okrem tepla rozlieva aj upokojujúce oranžové svetlo.
Dohodneme sa, že lampáš mu hneď ráno prinesiem späť.
V hlbokej tme sa most cez rieku hrá so mnou na skrývačku a len vďaka tomu požičanému lampášu ho nehľadám až do rána. Noc je pomerne chladná,
odhadujem tak -15 stupňov. Hviezdy jasno svietia, ale mesiac je stále schovaný za vrcholmi hôr. V tábore ešte urobím pár dlhých expozícií zo statívu,
využívajúc minúty čakania na písanie denníka. V hrubých rukaviciach sa nepíše ľahko, no stránky zážitkov sa zapĺňajú pomerne rýchlo. Teším sa na
zajtra. “
Údolia horských bystrín Phu a Nar v ktorých sa nachádzajú rovnomenné dedinky boli až donedávna uzavreté pre turistov. Aj dnes je ich návštevnosť
prísne regulovaná Nepálskymi úradmi, ktoré vydávajú len obmedzený počet povolení na prístup do týchto odľahlých oblastí. Samozrejme značnú časť
potenciálnych návštevníkov ešte pred tým odradí fakt, že tieto usadlosti sú na hony vzdialené od populárnych trekových destinácií a dostať sa k nim
znamená vynaložiť nemalé cestovateľské úsilie.
Ľudia v týchto osadách stále žijú pôvodným spôsobom života a sú úzko spätí s drsnou prírodou. Obrábanie drobných terasovitých políčok a pastierstvo
sú hlavnými zdrojmi obživy. Jaky sú tu asi najdôležitejšie hospodárske zvieratá prinášajúce mnohonásobný úžitok - od mlieka, cez jačiu vlnu, až po jačí
trus, ktorý sa tu po vysušení používa ako palivo, skrátka obnoviteľný zdroj tepla.
Pastieri jakov počas teplejších mesiacov, kedy je tu minimálne množstvo zrážok, musia so svojim stádom hľadať trávnaté pasienky vo vyšších
nadmorských výškach (4500-5000m), kde vlahu dodáva voda z topiaceho sa snehu. Pastieri žijú počas tohoto obdobia spolu so svojimi rodinami v
stanoch , ktoré sú postavené na drevených konštrukciách a obtiahnuté látkou z jačej vlny. S príchodom prvého snehu nastáva veľké sťahovanie a
pastierske rodiny sa vracajú s čriedami jakov nazad do osady, kde prečkajú tvrdú zimu.
Vo vysokých nadmorských výškach ostáva krúžiť už len lammergeier, najväčší nepálsky dravý vták. S rozpätím krídel až 3 metre dokáže lammergeier
plachtiť vo vzduchu bez námahy celé hodiny.
"It's getting dark quickly. Do you have a flashlight with you? " Sonam Lama asked me, a shepherd, farmer and father of two sons and three daughters.
"No, I have not." The lamp has remained in the tent. At daylight I thought it’s close - two maybe three kilometers from our camp across the bridge over the
nearly frozen mountain stream in the village of Phu. This Nepalese village is distant about ten-twelve days away from the nearest civilization by foot. Off
road to Tibet, it is only a few miles from here. However, this line is blocked by snow-capped Himalayas, some of these peaks rise above 7,000 m up in the
air. When I arrived in the morning on a visit to this village, I couldn’t know that I stay up until the night. Little did I know that I will return the next day and
make friends with this family, so in my mind that I really never leave this place.
When I opened the door, pitch-black darkness enveloped me. I want to convince Sonam and myself that I can find the way to camp in the darkness.
Fortunately, my determination to seek the camp without any light never seemed convincing to Sonam and he gave me his little lantern with a battery that
uses his family in the evening at home as a lamp. By day, the battery is recharged by the sun, so the family can enjoy a few hours of light at the evening. I
hesitate to accept this offer and therefore all of them to leave in the dark. But Sonam shows me with a smile, that the fire is still burning in the stoves,
inundating small cozy room with warmth and soothing amber. I agree to bring the lantern back in the morning.

trekking routes and to reach them travelers need to spend considerable effort.

In the deep darkness the bridge over the river plays hide & seek with me and only because it borrowed lantern I do not seek it until the morning. The night
is quite cold, - 15 degrees Celsius, I guess. The stars shine clear, but the moon is still hidden behind the mountain tops. Later in the camp I am making a
few long exposures on a tripod, using the minutes waiting for diary writing. It’s not easy to write in the thick gloves, but the experiences and stories are
filling up my diary quickly. I look forward to tomorrow.
The valleys Nar and Phu were closed to tourists until the recent time. Even today, the traffic is strictly controlled by the Nepalese authorities by issue a
limited number of permits access to these remote areas. A significant proportion of potential visitors are, of course, also discouraged by the fact that
these settlements are a world away from the popular trekking destinations and to get there means to spend considerable effort of traveler.
People in these settlements are still living former way of life, closely linked with the harsh nature. Cultivating of small terraced fields and grazing are the
main sources of livelihood. Yaks are also probably the most important livestock bringing multiple benefits - from milk, through yak wool, yak dung, which,
after drying, is used as a fuel, a renewable source of heat.
During the warmer months, when there is minimal rainfall, Yak shepherds with their flocks must look for a grass pastures at higher altitudes (4500-5000
m), where moisture is supplied by water from melting snow. Shepherds live during this period, together with their families in tents that are built on wooden
structures and stroked by thick fabric made from Yak wool. With the arrival of the first big snow, shepherd families returns with their flocks back to the
village where they ride out the harsh winter.
At high altitudes only lammergeier, the biggest Nepalese bird of prey, remains circling. With a wing span up to 3 meters, lammergeier can glide
effortlessly in the air for hours.
„Hier ist es schnell dunkel. Hast du eine Taschenlampe dabei?“ fragt mich Sonam Lama, ein Hirt, Bauer und Vater von zwei Söhnen und drei Töchter.
„Nein, habe ich keine.“ Die Lampe ist im Zelt geblieben. Am Tageslicht dachte ich es ist nur ein Stück weg – zwei vielleicht drei Kilometer weit von
unserem Camp über die Brücke den fast gefrorenen Bergstrom über in das Dörfchen Phu. Dieses nepalesisches Dorf ist von der nächsten Zivilisation
etwa zehn-zwölf Tage zu Fuß entfernt. Per Luftlinie ist es nach Tibet nur ein paar Kilometer von hier. Allerdings diese Linie wird von schneebedeckten
Himalaya blockiert, manche von diesen Bergspitzen steigen über 7.000 m in die Höhe hinauf. Wenn ich am Vormittag zu Besuch in dieses Dörfchen
kam, konnte ich nicht wissen, dass ich bis Nacht bleibe. Ich ahnte nicht, dass ich am nächsten Tag nochmals kommen werde und mich mit dieser Familie
so anfreunden werde, dass ich in meinen Gedanken eigentlich nie von hier wegkomme.
Als ich die Tür öffnete, umschloss mich stockfinstere Dunkelheit. Ich wollte den Sonam, aber vor allem mich selbst davon überzeugen, dass ich den Weg
ins Camp auch in dieser Dunkelheit finden kann. Zum Glück klang meine Entschlossenheit den Camp ohne jegliches Licht zu suchen gar nicht
überzeugend und Sonam gab mir seine kleine Laterne mit Batterie, die die Familie am Abend zu Hause als Lampe benutzt. Tagsüber wird die Batterie
von der Sonne aufgeladen, damit die Familie am Abend ein paar Stunden Licht geniessen kann. Ich weigere mich dieses Angebot anzunehmen und
dadurch sie alle im Dunkeln zu lassen. Aber der Sonam zeigt mir mit einem Lächeln, dass das Feuer im Öfchen noch brennt, wodurch ins gemütliche
Zimmerchen ausser Wärme auch beruhigendes oranges Licht fliesst. Wir einigen uns daran, dass ich die Laterne gleich am Morgen zurückbringen
werde.
In der tieferen Finsternis spielt die Brücke über den Fluss das Verstecken mit mir und nur dank dieser geliehene Laterne werde ich die Brücke nicht bis in
der Früh suchen. Die Nacht ist ziemlich kalt, ich vermute etwa -15 Grad Celsius. Die Sterne leuchten ganz hell, aber der Mond bleibt immernoch hinter
den Bergen versteckt. Ich führe noch ein paar lange Expositionen vom Stativ durch, das Warten nutze ich um ins Tagebuch zu schreiben. In diesen
dicken Handschuhen geht das Schreiben nicht einfach, aber die Seiten werden ziemlich schnell mit Abenteuer befüllt. Ich freue mich schon aufs
Morgen.

3XDRY treatments combine two technologies into one textile: on the out-side
the textile is finished with a water- repellent function, whereas on the fabric’s
inside it absorbs perspiration. The treatment does not affect the appearance,

Coomax fibre, these fabrics are on of the most effective fabrics of present
days. For better moisture vaporize, it is made of special water-repellent
4-channel yarns. Coolmax fabric is by 30% better in moisture vaporize and by
50% better in drying as common cotton fabric. The garments made ofthis
fabric are easy to clean, are still soft and durable. They are immune against
shrinkage, odor and funguses. It was designed for all activities in warm
