enn sich vom 6. bis zum 11. September dieses Jahres die Tore der
International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) im niederländischen
Amsterdam öffnen, so gibt es für alle Beteiligten Grund zu feiern.
Nicht nur, dass sich erneut über 1 200 Aussteller anmeldeten, um
dem Fachpublikum das Neueste aus der Welt des Rundfunks und aus Film und Fernsehen zu präsentieren. Zudem gilt es, in diesem Jahr das 40-jährige Bestehen dieser internationalen Messe zu
zelebrieren. Aus diesem Grund verleihen die Organisatoren der IBC eine einmalige Auszeichnung,
den 40th Anniversary Award. Dieser geht an die BBC Natural History Unit, jene Abteilung der BBC,
welche durch ihre Naturdokumentationen bereits seit 50 Jahren für Aufsehen sorgt. Mit dieser
Auszeichnung wird die BBC dafür geehrt, dass sie während ihres Bestehens stets modernste
Technologien anwendete, um mit deren Hilfe unvergesslich bewegende, zum Denken anregende
Sendungen zu kreieren.
Die Hauptthemen der Jubiläumsausstellung werden die aktuellsten Entwicklungen der Bereiche
Mobiles Fernsehen, IPTV (auf dem Internet basierende Fernsehübertragung) und Digital Signage
(Digitale Informationssysteme) darstellen. Um diese Themen ausgiebig zu diskutieren, werden bis
zu 45 000 Besucher erwartet. Verglichen mit den Besucherzahlen der nur einen Tag vor Beginn
der IBC endenden Internationalen Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin mag diese Zahl nicht sonderlich
bemerkenswert klingen. Die Tatsache, dass es sich bei den Besuchern der IBC ausnahmslos um
Vertreter der Industrie handelt, lässt jedoch den tatsächlichen Stellenwert dieses Kongresses
erahnen.

hen the gates of this year‘s International Broadcasting Convention
(IBC) will have opened from September the 6th until September the
11 th in Amsterdam, every participant will have a reason to celebrate.
For one thing more than 1 200 exhibitors have managed to apply for
the IBC 2007 to present the news of the world of broadcasting to the professional visitors. For
another thing the IBC is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary as an international exhibition.
Therefore the IBC will present a unique 40th anniversary award to the BBC Natural History Unit,
which this year is celebrating its own 50th anniversary and has managed to become the largest
wildlife documentary producer in the world. This unique award wants to honour the BBC Natural
History Unit for 50 years of adopting and adapting technology to create memorable, moving and
thought-provoking programmes.
The hot topics at the anniversary exhibition will cover current developments of mobile television,
IPTV (Internet protocol television) and digital signage. Up to 45 000 broadcasters and filmmakers
are expected to gather for IBC 2007 in Amsterdam, so the hot topics can be thoroughly debated.
Compared to the anticipated number of visitors at the only one day before the IBC start ending
Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin this number doesn’t sound astonishing. But considering the fact that every visitor of the IBC is a professional representative of the industry reveals
the actual significance of the Amsterdam exhibition.

Zukunft des Mobile-TV
A
ls führendes Unternehmen auf dem Halbleitermarkt für den Mobile-TV-Empfang beteiligt
sich DiBcom aktiv an den DVB-H-Testläufen, die derzeit in Frankreich durchgeführt werden.
Im April 2006 ist das Unternehmen mit Alcatel dem gemeinsamen Unlimited Mobile-TV-Projekt beigetreten. Das Ziel dieser Zusammenarbeit lautet, einen neuen Chip mit erweiterten
Funktionen zu entwickeln, der durch seine satellitenbasierte und terrestrische Hybrid-Architektur
einen erstklassigen Empfang und bislang unerreichte Netzabdeckung ermöglicht. Derartige
Funktionen bilden den Kern der fortlaufenden Diskussionen über die Weiterentwicklung des DVBH-Mobil-TV-Übertragungsstandards. Neben diesem Projekt beteiligt sich DiBcom in Frankreich an
den Testläufen von TDF sowie an zahlreichen anderen europäischen Konzepten (B21C, Wing TV
und Pluto). Anfang Juni 2006 konnte DiBcom die Auslieferung seines millionsten DVB-H-Chips
an führende Mobiltelefonhersteller bekannt geben. Mit seiner Empfangstechnologie (Einbau von
DIB7000-H-Chips in Handys) hat DiBcom wesentlich zur kommerziellen DVB-H-Einführung in
Italien beigetragen.

The Future of Mobile TV
A
s a leading manufacturer on the semiconductor market for mobile broadcasting, DiBcom
currently participates in test runs for DVB-H in France. In April 2006 the company joined the
so called Unlimited Mobile TV Project with Alcatel. The aim of that collaboration is the invention of a new chip with advanced functions which will provide area-wide network coverage
with its satellite-based terrestrial hybrid architecture. These new features will further discussions
on the new standard of mobile broadcasting via DVB-H and its further development. In addition
to this project, DiBcom also takes part in other test runs on TDF (Télé Diffusion de France) as
well as different European concepts (B21C, Wing TV and Pluto). At the beginning of June 2006,
DiBcom was proud to announce its millionth delivery of a DVB-H chip to leading manufacturers of
mobile phones. Consequently, the company became the major supplier for the mobile-TV-market.
On account of DiBcom’s reception applications, as for example the integration of DIB7000-H
processors in mobile phones, the company considerably contributed to the commercial launch of
DVB-H devices in Italy.

er große Erfolg der IBC 2006 sowie die Präsentation zahlreicher,
platzgreifender Neuheiten hat JVC veranlasst, seine Standfläche
für die diesjährige IBC um 50 % auf 300 qm zu vergrößern. Unter
dem Motto „Must be JVC – The Perfect Experience“ widmet JVC
seinen IBC-Stand ganz dem Thema Fußball. Schließlich ist JVC (erneut)
einer der sechs offiziellen Eurotop-Partner der Fußball-Europameisterschaft 2008.
Bei dem 15-Meter-Truck handelt es sich nicht nur um einen rollenden
Blickfang, mit an Bord ist die gesamte Camcorder-Palette, d. h. alle
ProHD- und SD-Kameras in ENG- und Studio-Konfiguration. Ferner
kann am/im Truck die komplette Aufstellung der professionellen JVCMonitore begutachtet werden. Dabei reicht die Palette für Studioanwendungen von 17“-HD-CRT-Monitoren bis zu 24“-HD-LCDs. Zu den
interessantesten HDTV-Präsentations-Monitoren zählen sicher das
40“-Gerät sowie der 47“-LCD-Fernseher.
Eine herausragende Stellung nehmen die 65“/58“ Slim HD-ILA Hybrid TVs ein, die ganz neue Dimensionen der Großbildpräsentation
eröffnen. Aus nahe liegenden Gründen werden der 4-fach-Cube aus
65-Zoll-Hybrid-TVs sowie die HDTV-Dual-Rückprojektion mit zwei D-ILAProjektoren vom Typ DLA-H1 nicht im, sondern außerhalb des Trucks
gezeigt. Nicht zu vergessen ist das vielseitige TV-TOOLS Digital Signage
System, mit dem JVC eine innovative Lösung für die dynamische Informationsverteilung anbietet.
Für den Studiobereich zeigt JVC zwei weitere Neuheiten: die neuen
LCD-Studio-Monitore DT-V9 und DT-V17. Der neue Large Presentions
Screen CO-46LCD-BD beeindruckt durch seine Bildqualität, praxisgerechte Ausstattung und nicht zuletzt durch die Größe seines 46-ZollDisplays. Darüber hinaus wird JVC noch einige Full-HD-Displays in den
Größen 46“, 52“ und 65“ vorstellen.
Für die Anwender der ProHD Camcorder werden zwei brandneue Kamera-Kontrolleinheiten (CCUs) vorgestellt, mit denen sich die ProHD
Camcorder zu vollwertigen, fernbedienbaren Studiokameras aufrüsten
lassen.

s the IBC 2006 was a full success for JVC and the company has
numerous novelties to offer this year, JVC will expand its booth
in 2007 by 50 % to a size of 300 sqm. Even the JVC promotion
truck will find its way to Amsterdam during its tour across Europe.
Once again JVC is one of the six Eurotop partners of the UEFA Euro
2008 championship.
Thus, the stand themed „Must be JVC – The Perfect Experience will
focus entirely on football. Though the 15 meters’ truck is an immediate eye-catcher by itself, it also features a complete studio arranged
with state-of-the-art presentation technologies. The entire camcorder
range will be available. Moreover, the complete monitor line-up is on
display, from studiobased 17“-HD-CRT models to 24“-HD-LCD panels.
As to HDTV-monitors the 40“ LCDs and the 47“-LCD-flatscreens are
probably particularly interesting for visitors. The exclusive 58“/65“
Slim HD-ILA Hybrid TVs represent the new dimension of large screen
presentation. Last but not least, the multifunctional TV-TOOLS Digital
Signage System stands for JVC’s groundbreaking solution of dynamic
information transmission.
For studio applications JVC provides the new LCD studiomonitors DTV9 and DT-V17. The Large Presentions Screen CO-46LCD-BD features
extraordinary picture quality, customer-friendly equipment and most
of all a gigantic 46-inch screen. In addition JVC shows more Full HD
displays with 46“, 52“ and 65“.
Users of ProHD camcorders won’t be disappointed when attending the
JVC-stand this year, as two brand-new camera controll units (CCUs) are
introduced, which allow an upgrade of the camcorders to adequate,
remote-controlled televison cameras.

Neues in digitaler Aufbereitung
Frische Ware erwartet interessierte Besucher am diesjährigen Homecast-Stand
U
nter dem Motto „DVB meets IP“ präsentiert sich Blankom in
diesem Jahr auf der International Broadcasting Convention
(IBC). Zu einer neu vorgestellten Gerätegeneration gehören der
DVB-S2 Twin Receiver DRD 694 mit IP-Interface, das IP-Gateway
DIP 120 und der Edge QAM-Modulator EQM 100. Mit dem QAM Modulator PQM 1024 möchte Blankom zukünftigen Anforderungen für die
Übertragung von höheren Datenraten genügen. Mit dem neuen DownConverter PVE 855 wird es zukünftig möglich sein, dass TV-Programme
in einem 450-MHz-Netz in das Band I „rückumgesetzt“ werden. Über
Ton-Unterträger empfangene Radio-Programme können über den
Coder-Modulator PRC 902 für die Einspeisung in das Kabelnetz aufbereitet werden. Das UKW-Umsetzer-Modul PRU 901 ermöglicht die Konvertierung eines terrestrischen UKW-Programms in einen Kabelkanal.
Die Produktfamilie DRP wird um die Modelle 373 und 364 aus dem
Ecoline-Programm erweitert.

auptblickpunkt des diesjährigen Homecast-Standes auf der
IBC wird die Präsentation des digitalen Twin-HDTV-PVR-SatReceivers mit der Bezeichnung HS8100CIPVR für hochauflösendes Fernsehen darstellen. Dieser ist in der Lage, HD- und
SD-Programme gleichzeitig aufzuzeichnen. Neben einer 250-GigabyteFestplatte verfügt er über eine neue alphanumerische VFD-Anzeige. Es
wurden drei USB-Schnittstellen integriert, welche die Funktionen Host
und Slave unterstützen. Hiermit ist es möglich, MP3-Spieler und DigiCams als externe Datenträger anzuschließen. Über die integrierten Abspielfunktionen für MP3 und Fotos können diese wiedergeben werden,
was in Verbindung mit HD-TV-Geräten und der HDMI-Schnittstelle zu
guten Ergebnissen führt. Ein 100-Mbit-Lan-Anschluss ermöglicht auch
den Datentransfer zum heimischen PC. Des Weiteren wird mit dem
HDTV-Sat-Receiver-HS5201CI ein Single-PVR-Receiver (PVR ready) vorgestellt, welcher Aufnahmen auf externe USB-Festplatten ermöglicht.

y now the Blankom group is well established in the list of exhibitors of the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in
Amsterdam. „DVB meets IP“ is Blankom‘s slogan at this year‘s
IBC. Blankom Digital will present a new generation of devices,
including the twin receiver DVB-S2 DRD 694 with an IP interface, the
IP gateway DIP 120 and the Edge QAM-Modulator EQM 100. With
the presentation of the new QAM Modulator PQM 1024, Blankom
announces an 1024 QAM modulation which provides for even higher
data rates for the modular Headend System (MHS). In connexion to the
up converter PVA 850/851 the new down converter PVE 855 allows for
back-converting of a TV channel in a 450 MHz network into the band I.
The coder modulator PRC 902 processes radio channels received via
audio subcarrier for the feed into cable networks. The VHF converter
module PRU 901 enables the conversion of a terrestrial VHF channel
into cable ducts. Furthermore, the units 373 Ecoline and 364 Ecoline
now complement the DRP product line. As these units lack superfluous
additional options, they offer excellent transmission capacity at significantly optimized expenses.

at the IBC 2007
M
ajor aspect of the Homecast exhibitition at the International
Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2007 will be the presentation
of the digital twin HDTV PVR satellite receiver, called HS 8100
CIPVR. This receiver will be able to record HDTV and SDTV
signals simultaneously. It is equipped with a 250 GB hard disc and
an alphanumeric vacuum fluorescent display (VFD). There are three
inbuilt USB interfaces, which support both host and slave function. This
allows connecting MP3 player and digital camcorders as external data
medium. With the integrated possibilities of playing mp3 and photo
files, especially a connexion of a HD television via HDMI interface will
lead to a remarkable result. A 100 Mbit LAN connexion also realises a
data transfer to a local computer. Furthermore Homecast will present
a single PVR receiver (PVR ready), named HS 5201 CI, which will allow
the recording to an external USB hard disc. Last but not least Homecast will show a new IP box, which will be used within the Open TV
broadcasting standard.
