Die historische Altstadt, Marzipan, Thomas Mann und
das Holstentor - dafür ist Lübeck, die Perle der Hanse,
weltbekannt.
The historic city centre, marzipan confection, Thomas
Mann, and the Holstentor (Holsten Gate) – this is what
Lübeck, the “Queen of the Hanse”, is best known for.
Aber Lübeck ist auch eine Stadt der Wirtschaft
und der Wissenschaft: Setzte sie vor gut 750
Jahren mit der Marienkirche neue Maßstäbe in der
Backsteingotik, präsentiert sie sich heute in der
Medizintechnik, der Lebensmittelindustrie und mit
ihrer Kongresshalle als Stadt des 21. Jahrhunderts. Und
alles ist zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten erreichbar: Hotels,
Veranstaltungsräume, Innenstadt mit Fußgängerzone
und vielen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Stadtverkehr,
Hauptbahnhof und Naherholungsgebiete.
But Lübeck is also a city of economy and science: While
the construction of St. Mary’s Church set new standards
for red-brick gothic architecture 750 years ago, the city
nowadays offers first-class medical technology as well as
food industry and has with its Music and Congress
Centre become a successful city of the 21st Century.
Everything can be reached within a few minutes’ walk:
Hotels, event venues, the city centre with a pedestrian
area and numerous shopping facilities, city
transportation, Central Station, and local recreation areas.

Just outside the city gates of Lübeck lies the seaside

Die Musik- und Kongresshalle Lübeck – im
Volksmund MuK genannt – ist vor allem ein Ort
der Begegnung.
The Music and Congress Centre of Lübeck –
commonly known as the MuK – is first and
foremost a meeting venue.
Das imposante Gebäude des international renommierten Architekten Meinhard von Gerkan liegt direkt an
der Trave und präsentiert sich funktional, transparent
und zeitgenössisch.
Designed by the internationally renowned architect
Meinhard von Gerkan, the imposing building is located
directly next to the river Trave and presents itself as
functional, lucent and contemporary.
Weithin sichtbar und markantes Zeichen ist die Figurengruppe „Die Fremden“ des deutschen Künstlers Thomas
Schütte auf dem Dach der MuK. Erstmals auf der
documenta 9 in Kassel 1992 ausgestellt, befindet sich
das Skulpturensemble seit 1995 in Lübeck und ist auch
ein Symbol für das Zusammentreffen unterschiedlichster
Menschengruppen.
Widely visible, „The Strangers“ by the german sculptor
Thomas Schütte is a distinctive feature on the roof
of the building. This ensemble of sculptured figures
was first exhibited at the 1992 documenta 9 in
Kassel. It has been in Lübeck since 1995 and is
now a symbol for the gathering of diverse groups
of people.
Weltoffen und zukunftsweisend hat sich die Lübecker
Musik- und Kongresshalle im Norden als Veranstaltungszentrum mit einem qualifizierten und hochmotivierten
Team etabliert.
Both cosmopolitan and trendsetting, the Lübeck Music
and Congress Centre has established itself in
northern Germany as an event venue with an extremely
well qualified and highly motivated team.

Die MuK als erstes und einziges ökologisch handelndes
Veranstaltungshaus in Schleswig-Holstein setzt

Die Verantwortung für eine zukunftsfähige und
lebenswerte Gesellschaft ist ein zentrales Thema im
Handeln der Geschäftsleitung und der Mitarbeiter. Was
als Idee anfing, wurde in den letzten Jahren u. a. durch
die Zertifizierung von Green Globe (2010) und
Ökoprofit (2011) zunehmend Realität und wird
Schritt für Schritt weitergeführt. Im Verbund der
Green Globe zertifizierten Veranstaltungshäuser
erzielte die MuK im internationalen Vergleich die
höchste Wertung und wurde mit dem Green Globe
High Achievement Award 2011 ausgezeichnet.
The responsibility for a sustainable society worth
living in is an important issue of concern to our
management as well as to our employees. What
started off as a simple idea has become a reality
during the last few years, certifications by Green
Globe (2010) and Ökoprofit (2011) were achieved, and
our efforts will be continued with determination.
Last year, the MuK achieved the highest ranking in
an international comparison of certified event
locations and thus received the Green Globe High
Achievement Award 2011.
