— — Zürcher Hochschule der Künste Zürcher Fachhochschule Checklist for International Students Subject to Visa Requirements This checklist applies to all students from countries subject to visa requirements. Citizens of the following countries are exempt from visa requirements: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, United Kingdom. Students from Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore are also exempt from visa requirements and may submit their application directly in Switzerland. Students from countries subject to visa requirements must submit a consular application for a student visa in person to the Swiss Embassy or Consulate responsible for their place of residence. Applicants are required to submit the following documents with their application: 1. Completed and signed authorisation* made out to ZHdK (Attachment 1) 2. Passport (valid for three months after the envisaged end date of studies) 3. Fully completed application form (available at the Embassy or Consulate) 4. 5. Official confirmation of a place at ZHdK (Attachment 2) Proof of sufficient financial resources* to cover the cost of living and return journey in one of the following ways: a) Evidence of CHF 21‘000 deposited in a bank account. The account must bear the applicant’s name. The bank must have at least one branch in Switzerland and must be listed at https://www.zhdk.ch/fileadmin/data_zhdk/studium/Migration/mit_Visum/Liste_b ewilligte_Banken.pdf. This confirmation must be resubmitted when extending a residency permit or b) Written guarantee (Attachment 3) from a solvent individual resident in Switzerland (either a Swiss citizen or a foreign national possessing the right of residence with a C or B permit). Please submit the following supporting documents: - copies of a current statement from the local or regional debt pro secution office for the last three years and - copies of the three most recent salary statements or - copies of the last tax declaration including a tax invoice or - copy of a bank statement or c) Proof of a scholarship or bursary to be paid out to the student in Swiss Francs, Euros, US Dollars or d) Signed declaration of any other third-party, such as a foundation or similar institution vouching for the applicant. Signed written confirmation that applicant will leave Switzerland upon the completion of his or her studies (please give a specific date) without delay. 6. 7. 8. 9. Please provide a tabular curriculum vitae listing all schools, universities attended, and providing details of your professional education (copies of German translations of diplomas and completion certificates must be enclosed, if no such copies exist in either English or French). Applicants should provide a written statement giving details of their reasons for studying in Switzerland and of their plans upon completing their course of study. For minors (i.e. individuals under the age of 18 years): - Proof of adequate accommodation (e.g. tenancy agreement with a student hall of residence or written confirmation of accommodation arrangements made with a private individual, friend, etc.). Written consent of the applicant’s parents that their child has permission to study in Switzerland. Important Information Before arriving in Switzerland - - Upon receiving confirmation of your place at ZHdK and upon accepting the Univers ity’s offer, you must submit your application for a student visa immediately. Visas are issued within approximately three months. Without obtaining your visa prior to departure, you will be unable to enter Switzerland. Please note that you will be unable to apply for a tourist visa when submitting your application for a student visa. The visa is only valid for the Canton of Zurich. Embassies and consulates may require applicants to submit additional documentation not listed here.
