OKANAGAN HOCKEY ACADEMY EUROPE
Dear Parent,
To apply for admission, please complete the application form and return it to us
together with the following documents:
• completed Teacher Reference Form including previous school records and/or
examination results
• completed Character Reference Form
• completed Temporary Transfer of Custodianship Form
• completed and signed section 3 of Player Agreement
• signed document Expectations, Rules & Code of Conduct
• copy of your child’s birth certificate
• copy of your child’s certificate of citizenship
• 4 passport photos
• 1 passport photo should be emailed directly to [email protected]
We would welcome the opportunity to show you around the campus, discuss your
child's admission, and meet you and your child in person. We will also want to
assess your child, in order to finally determine his academic and athletic readiness
to enter into our Hockey Academy. To that end all applicants are invited to a 3.5
day Welcome and Try-out camp in Spring. Visit www.okanaganhockey.eu for more
details.
Please also note that for we give priority to players who will be attending 9th or 10th
Grade (9., 10. Schulstufe) that year! If your child is in a different age group, please
do contact us to discuss possible alternative arrangements.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Attached you will find a copy of what is expected of players of the Okanagan Hockey
Academy Europe, as well as the rules and codes of conduct to which they must
adhere.
The players of the academy will be held responsible for their actions on and off the
ice. Any type of actions performed by a player that impairs the credibility of the
Okanagan Hockey Academy, and or his team mates will not be tolerated.
„We are not here to just develop successful hockey players, we are here to develop
successful individuals.“
Each student must represent himself and the Academy at the highest level possible.
The players of the Okanagan Hockey Academy Europe are building a legacy with the
core values of Dignity, Respect, Discipline, Honesty, Determination and
Camaraderie for the students of tomorrow to follow. Each player will be expected
to develop and maintain a work ethic that will be unparalleled in athletics and
academics.

The$players$of$the$academy$will$be$held$responsible$for$their$actions$on$and$off$the$ice.$Any$type$

TEAM(RULES(
Pre$and$Post+Ice$Session$Rules$
• Players$are$to$arrive$accordingly$before$the$practice$start$time.$
• Players$are$to$arrive$1$hour$and$15$minutes$before$any$game$start$time.$
• When$time$allows$players$should$be$ready$15$minutes$prior$to$start$time$of$practices$and$
games.$
• After$games$and$practices$players$may$be$asked$to$take$part$in$team$debriefing$exercises$
that$may$last$up$to$30$minutes.$
• Practices$are$mandatory$and$in$the$event$of$having$to$miss$a$practice$the$coaching$staff$must$
be$contacted$in$advance.$
• No$players$or$official$of$the$Okanagan$Hockey$Academy$Europe$will$berate$or$argue$with$the$
referees.$
• Dress$code$for$all$home$games$and$tournaments$will$be$the$team$presentation$attire$(Suit$
and$tie).$No$jeans$will$be$permitted.$Each$player’s$appearance$must$be$neat.$
• All$Players$must$shower$after$games$and$practices.$
• During$all$dryRland$activities$and$offRice$warm$ups$players$must$wear$team$attire.$

SCHOOL(RULES(
All$Academy$Students$will$work$to$achieve$the$highest$levels$possible$and$treat$the$teaching$
staff$with$the$same$respect$and$common$courtesy$they$show$the$coaching$staff.$$In$a$
cooperative$effort$to$achieve$the$high$standards$which$the$Academy,$School$and$students$are$
striving$to$achieve,$LAIS$and$Okanagan$Hockey$Academy$Europe$have$set$in$place$a$set$of$
standards$and$rules$which$must$be$adhered$to$in$order$for$everyone$to$be$able$to$learn$and$
perform$at$their$best.$$$
Should$students$not$adhere$to$the$rules$laid$out$by$the$teaching$staff,$negative$notation$will$be$
logged$which$may$result$in$after$school$detention$and$possible$loss$of$practice$and$game$
privileges.$We$do$not$want$to$limit$a$players$ice$time$but$we$expect$our$Academy$students$to$
understand$the$value$of$this$unique$educational$facility.$$$

Performance$Monitoring$
Each$student’s$individual$performance$regarding$

is$closely$monitored$by$the$teachers$and$reported$to$the$Academy$on$a$regular$basis.$$
Based$on$performance$criteria$teachers$have$discretion$over$assigning$students$to$tutoring$
lessons$at$any$time.$

In$the$Classroom$
• All$students$are$expected$to$treat$the$classroom$and$furniture$with$the$utmost$care$and$
respect.$Parents$and$students$will$be$held$liable$for$any$damage$that$the$student$inflicts.$
• Students$are$only$allowed$to$leave$the$classroom$during$classes$with$teacher’s$permission.$
All$learning$material$for$each$entire$schoolRday$must$be$brought$to$class$before$school$
starts.$
• The$use$of$mobile$phones,$smartRphones$or$other$internet$capable$mobile$devices$in$the$
classroom$is$NOT$permitted$

Absence$from$School$due$to$Sickness$
All$players$must$call$or$message$their$coach$prior(to(going(to(school$if$they$are$sick$and$not$able$
to$attend$school$and$practice.$Failing$to$contact$the$coach$when$ill,$will$result$in$a$one$day$
training$suspension.$Players$who$call$in$sick$will$automatically$miss$the$following$days$training$to$
help$in$their$recovery.$If$the$player$is$better$the$following$day$and$returns$to$school$then$the$
player$is$allowed$back$on$the$ice$and$in$the$gym$the$following$day.$Players$who$are$off$the$ice$
due$to$sickness$for$two$days$or$more$prior$to$a$game$are$not$allowed$to$play$on$day$three$
should$there$be$a$game.$Players$must$be$on$the$ice$at$least$one$day$before$a$game.$(The$only$
exception$is$for$Sunday$games$if$the$player$was$in$school$Friday).$

Absence$from$Practice$or$Training$due$to$Tutoring$
Players$who$miss$practice$or$training$due$to$a$tutoring$lesson$and$bring$verification$from$the$
teacher$are$allowed$on$the$ice$the$following$day.$(Players$who$are$in$tutoring$in$the$morning$are$
not$allowed$to$participate$on$the$ice$with$a$different$group$later$that$day)$

Home$Visits$
Players$are$allowed$to$travel$home$for$school$breaks,$holiday$unless$they$are$requested$to$
participate$in$Academy$competition.$Players$are$required$to$attend$school$for$ALL$classes$and$
dates$(as$per$the$academy$calendar).$To$comply$with$the$Austrian$School$Law,$any$early$
departure$or$late$arrival$requires$a$written$(email)$approval$of$the$LAIS$School$Director.$In$their$
own$interest,$player’s$parents$are$advised$to$send$such$a$request$for$approval$prior$to$making$
any$travel$arrangements$directly$to$Gabriele$Schletz$([email protected]),$
copying$the$Form$Teacher$(see$appendix$for$email$addresses),$Coach$(see$Appendix$for$email$
addresses)$and$Director$of$Hockey$Operations$([email protected])$stating$the$
reason$(e.g.$foreign$studies,$national$team$event,$medical$appointment).$

DORMITORY(RULES(
Accommodation$Policy$
Okanagan Hockey Academy Europe has two locations for you as athletes. The main Dormitory
building, the BSH (Bundesschülerheim) facility on campus across from the arena, and the
Lakeside Dorm(SLZ am See) facility located on the shore of the Ratzersdorfer See roughly five
hundred meters from the arena. The Academy staff reserves the right to place all players based on
age, team and or maturity level. Our 8L students and last year Players and those playing for our
U20 Prep team will traditionally reside in the Lakeside Dorm, offering them more of an
independent living style. Players wanting to reside in the Lakeside Dorm are asked to check with
the Director of Hockey for availability.

All$players$are$to$respect$the$meal$times$established$by$the$dormitory$and$be$present$and$on$

All$academy$players$are$expected$to$wash$their$sheets$and$bed$spreads$at$least$every$two$to$
three$weeks.$Please$ask$the$dorm$counselor$for$the$required$tokens$and$how$to$use$the$Dorm$
washers$and$dryers.$For$all$other$personal$laundry$items$such$as$clothes,$towels,$etc..$you$will$
have$the$option$of$using$the$pay$for$machines$in$the$dorm$or$ask$your$coach$for$a$schedule$to$
access$the$academy$washing$machine$and$dryer$in$the$arena.$

Cleaning$
The$dorm$staff$cleans$all$rooms$regularly.$However,$students$must$keep$their$rooms$tidy$at$all$
times$–$this$includes$clothes$put$away$and$beds$made.$In$case$of$nonRcompliance$cleaning$will$
be$done$at$the$expense$of$the$parents.$

Damages$
All$students$are$expected$to$treat$their$room$and$furniture$with$the$utmost$care$and$respect.$
Parents$and$students$will$be$held$liable$for$any$damage$that$the$student$inflicts.$Dormitory$staff$
must$be$notified$immediately$of$any$damage$occurred.$
$
Valuables$
It$is$recommended$that$students$keep$their$valuables$in$the$lockable$closet$in$their$room$at$all$
times.$Rooms$must$be$locked$when$not$occupied.$Neither$OHSE/OHAE,$nor$the$dormitory$
management$can$be$held$liable$for$any$theft.$

Electrical$Devices$
The$following$electrical$devices$are$allowed$in$the$dorm:$HairRDryer,$Radio,$Razor,$and$
Toothbrush.$For$all$other$devices$e.g.$Laptop$Computers,$TV,$approval$must$be$obtained.$In$case$
of$misconduct$OHAE$or$dormitory$staff$can$temporarily$confiscate$these$devices.$

Returning$from$Leave$
Students$returning$from$leave$at$any$time$(excluding$teamRfunctions)$must$be$back$by$21.30$at$
the$latest.$In$case$of$medical$illness$or$other$emergency$reasons,$OHAE$staff$must$be$notified$
immediately.$

Extended$Leave$
If$needed$and$upon$request,$all$rooms$must$be$completely$vacated$during$school$breaks$–$in$
particular$during$summer.$Rooms$will$be$inspected$for$damages$by$the$dormitory$staff$prior$to$
students$moving$in$or$out.$

Sickness$
In$case$of$sickness,$counselors$are$responsible$for$overseeing$the$proper$care$and$attention,$
including$coordination$of$medical$treatment.$Parents$of$local$students$may$be$asked$to$assume$
responsibility$until$their$son$recovers$from$illness.

DISCIPLINARY(POLICIES(
The$following$are$the$disciplinary$policies$for$the$Okanagan$Hockey$Academy$Europe$students:$

Any$Academy$student$involved$in$these$indiscretions$will$automatically$be$suspended$from$the$
academy$and$may$be$sent$home$at$the$expense$of$the$family$with$no$refund$of$tuition$
payments.$AntiRDoping$Regulations$of$the$Austrian$Federal$Sport$Association$(Österreichische$
BundesRSportorganisation)$apply.$

Any$academy$student$involved$in$theft$at$any$level$or$in$any$manner$will$automatically$be$

Any$disrespectful$behavior$performed$by$a$student$will$not$be$tolerated.$Any$disrespectful$

academy$activities$and$the$player$may$be$sent$home$at$the$parents’$expense$with$no$tuition$
refund.$

There will be a three-step process followed for these infractions.
1. Incident written up and verbal warning.
2. Incident written up and disciplinary actions taken.
3. Incident written up and suspension and possible expulsion from academy.
As stated above the staff will deal with each incident fairly and efficiently. One or
two steps of the process may take effect during the same incident depending on the
severity of the violation.

School Europe GmbH (OHSE) vor der Anmeldung für die Okanagan Hockey Academy Europe zustimmen. Bitte
unterzeichnen Sie das Formular auf Seite 3 und retournieren Sie das Formular gemeinsam mit den
Bewerbungsunterlagen.
SPIELERVEREINBARUNG 2015-2016
1. GESCHÄFTSBEDINGUNGEN
1.1 Dauer der Vereinbarung
Diese Vereinbarung beginnt mit dem Beginn des Schuljahres/der Hockey Saison (1. September) und endet am
letzten Schultag (30 Juni) des folgenden Kalenderjahres.
1.2 Jährliche Anmeldegebühr
Die Anmeldegebühr muss gemeinsam mit der Anmeldung für das Schuljahr entrichtet werden bevor sie
berücksichtigt werden kann.
1.3 Jahresgebühr
Die Jahresgebühr deckt folgende Leistungen für ein Schuljahr / eine Saison vom 1. September bis 30. Juni ab:
• Internationale Schulausbildung (inklusive des dafür notwendigen Lehrmaterials)
• Vollinternat (7 Tage pro Woche, 3 Mahlzeiten pro Tag, 24 Stunden Betreuung) ausser während der Schulferien.
• Hockey Programm (Eis- and Trockentraining, Spiele, Basis-Hockeyausrüstung *))
• Club-Mitgliedschaft (automatische Mitgliedschaft aller Spieler der Academy)

Handschuhe, Hosen, Helm, Spiel und Trainingsleibchen, Teamkleidung und –uniform sowie die Hockeytasche,
welche beim Verlassen der Academy an die OHSE zurückgegeben werden müssen.
Folgenden Leistungen sind nicht durch die Jahresgebühr abgedeckt und werden nach Bedarf gesondert verrechnet:
• Zusätzliche und / oder der Ersatz verlorener, gestohlener, oder beschädigter Lehrmaterialien und
Hockeyausrüstung, die von OHSE bzw. deren Partnern zur Verfügung gestellt wurden.
• Fahrlässige oder vorsätzliche Beschädigung von Eigentum der OHSE oder deren Partnern
• Zusätzliche Hockeyausrüstung (z.B. Schlittschuhe, Schienbein- und Ellbogenschutz, Brustpanzer, Stöcke)
• Nachhilfe (über den von L.A.I.S. angebotenen Förderunterricht hinausgehend)
• ESL (English as a second Language course)
• IB Prüfungsgebühren – 12 Schulstufe
• Basis-Krankenversicherung (siehe 1.5)
• Optionale, über das normale Schulprogramm hinausgehende Reisen
• Spielertransport im Zusammenhang mit Heimreisen
• Reisen zu bestimmten Auslandsturnieren
• Übernachtungs- und Verpflegungskosten während der schulfreien Tage oder wenn das Internat geschlossen ist
Jahresgebühren werden grundsätzlich nicht rückerstattet, auch nicht dann, wenn die OHSE aufgrund von
Umständen, die ausserhalb ihrer Kontrolle liegen, ihre Geschäftstätigkeit einstellen muss.
1.4 Anmeldefristen
Für neue Schüler/Spieler gilt eine schriftliche Anmeldung für das jeweils folgende Schuljahr zwischen 30. April bis
spätestens 31. Juli. Danach sind Neuaufnahmen nur noch in Ausnahmefällen möglich.
Für wiederkehrende Schüler/Spieler, die sich schriftlich
• Bis zum 30. April für das folgende Schuljahr/die folgende Saison nicht anmelden bzw. sich abmelden, werden
keine Gebühren verrechnet;
• zwischen 1. Mai und dem Tag vor Schul- oder Trainingsbeginn abmelden, fallen 60% der Jahresgebühr für das
folgende Schuljahr an
• ab dem ersten Training oder Schulbeginn und dem Ende des Schuljahres/der Saison abmelden, fallen 100% der

1.5 Versicherung
Alle Spieler sind über die Club-Mitgliedschaft Unfall- und Haftpflichtversichert.
Krankenversicherung der Schüler/Spieler aus der EU/CH liegt allein in der Verantwortung der
Eltern/Erziehungsberechtigten. Die gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Krankenversicherung für Schüler/Spieler von
ausserhalb der EU/CH wird durch OHSE abgeschlossen und gesondert verrechnet.
1.6 Rechnungen
Der/die Elternteil(e)/Erziehungsberechtigte(n), die dieses Formular unterzeichnen, sind für alle finanziellen
Angelegenheiten verantwortlich, unabhängig von der Rechnungsadresse.
1.7 Ergänzungen und Abänderungen
OHSE behält sich vor, die in dieser Vereinbarung enthaltenen Bedingungen jederzeit nach eigenem Ermessen zu
ergänzen bzw. abzuändern.
1.8 Gerichtsstand
Für alle Rechtsstreitigkeiten gilt der Gerichtsstand St. Pölten. Es gilt ausschließlich österreichisches Recht.
2. GEBÜHREN & ZAHLUNGSBEDINGUNGEN
Alle Gebühren sind Jahresgebühren, die in ihrer vollen Höhe zu entrichten sind, auch wenn der
Schüler/Spieler die Hockey Academy vorzeitig verlässt. Die Fälligkeit der Teilzahlungen ist wie folgt:

PLAYER AGREEMENT 2015-2016
1. CONDITIONS AND TERMS
1.1 Term
The agreement starts beginning of the school year/hockey season (1. September) and ends on he last day of school
(June 30th) the following calendar year.
1.2 Annual Registration Fee
The registration fee must accompany an application for admission before it can be considered.
1.3 Annual Tuition Fees
Annual fees cover one school year/season starting September 1 to June 30:
•
International Education (including mandatory curriculum scripts)
•
Full Boarding (7 days a week, 3 meals a day, 24 hour counselling a day) except during school breaks
•
Hockey Program (on- and off-ice training, games, basic hockey equipment *))
•
Club-Membership (all players of the academy are members by default)

gloves, pants, helmet, game and training jerseys, team wear and uniform as well as hockey bag, which have to
be returned to OHSE when leaving the Academy
The following items are not covered by the annual fees and will be invoiced separately as required:
•
additional and / or replacement of lost, stolen, or damaged textbooks, hockey equipment provided by
OHSE or their partners
•
damage to assets of OHSE and their partners as a result of misuse or gross negligence
•
Other hockey equipment (e.g. Skates, Shin- and Shoulder pads, Sticks)
•
Academic Tutoring (beyond tutoring classes offered by L.A.I.S.)
•
ESL (English as a second Language course)
•
IB Examination Fees - Grade 12
•
Basic Health Insurance (see 1.5)
•
Optional Curriculum Enriching Trips (unless combined with Hockey Program related trips)
•
Player transportation to/from St. Pölten in conjunction with home trips
•
Certain Tournaments abroad
•
Food and Accommodations during school breaks or when the dormitory is closed
No refund of annual fees will be issued – not even in the event that OHSE, or any part of it, is forced to close due to
circumstances beyond OHSE's control.
1.4 Enrolment deadlines
For new Students-Athletes the enrolment for the respective school-year/season must be made between 30. April
and 31. July at the latest. After this date admissions are only possible in exceptional cases.
Returning Student-Athletes who withdraw their registration for the next school-year/season in writing

by April 30 for the next school year/season exempt from fees
•
between May 1 and before the first day of training or classes 60% of the annual fees due
•
between first training or classes and the end of the school year/season 100% of the annual fees due

1.5 Insurance
All players are covered for accident and liability via their club membership. Parents from EU countries (incl CH) are
required to maintain basic health insurance for their children both in Austria and abroad. For student-athletes from
outside of the EU/CH a basic health insurance required by Austrian Law will be covered by OHSE and charged
separately.
1.6 Billing
The parent/guardian(s) who sign(s) this Financial Regulations form is responsible for all financial matters,
regardless of the billing address.
1.7 Amendments
OHSE reserves the right to amend the Terms & Conditions and the Schedule of Fees of this agreement as deemed
necessary.
1.8 Disputes
Any dispute arising from these Financial Regulations shall be settled by the courts of St. Pölten, Austria, place of
venue being the district court of St. Pölten. Only Austrian Law applies.
2. SCHEDULE OF FEES AND PAYMENT TERMS
All fees are annual fees payable in full, also in case a player decides to leave the Hockey Academy early.
