University of Geneva, Cell Physiology and Metabolism (Switzerland) About the Faculty of Medicine The Faculty in Medicine of the University of Geneva has developed a strong expertise in the non-invasive imaging of small animal including state of the art micro-CT, optical imaging system, as well as magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography. Many experimental models including myocardial infarct, pancreatic islet cells transplantation and diabetes and RA have been successfully imaged in rodents. The University of Geneva will be primary involved in 1) the imaging of RA and OA induced inflammation through cell tracking by MRI and SPION and 2) the in vivo validation of targeted iron-oxide nanoparticles for an early detection of OA and RA as developed by partners of the program.
