Robert-Musil Museum of Literature, Bahnhofstraße 50
In addition to the permanent exhibitions on Robert Musil, Ingeborg Bachmann and Christine Lavant,
the literature museum also organises readings (7.30 pm). Christoph W. Bauer will read in the
framework of the "literatour" series on 11 November, and Simone Lappert will hold a reading in the

BV Annual Exhibition from 6 to 30 November 2015. The gallery exhibits works created by BV

“Haus der Begegnung”, Hauptplatz, 9063 Maria Saal
6 December to 15 December 2015: “Nativity exhibition 2015” - Every 2 years, the popular nativity
exhibition takes place for all ages during Advent at the “Haus der Begegnung” in the main square in
Maria Saal. The exhibition is devised and organised by the “Krippenfreunde Klagenfurt am
Wörthersee” and “Domverein Maria Saal” associations. It features Austrian, Oriental and small

Advent Market on Domplatz
From 3 to 20 December; Thursday to Sunday, 10 am – 6.30 pm. The Christmas market on Domplatz
square is perfect for those who prefer a more contemplative venue. 30 artisans from Carinthia offer
hand-made wooden toys, candles, potteries, ceramic art, jewellery and felt products. The side
programme includes a gospel mass, brass music and arias from musicals.
Advent Magic on the lake
Wörthersee Schifffahrt offers cruises full of atmosphere on Lake Wörthersee passing all the brightly
lit towns and villages along the shores of Lake Wörthersee. Enjoy magic hours on the cruise from
Klagenfurt to Velden and savour the traditional Christmas delicacies served on board. Dates 2015:

Guided City Tours
Every Friday and Saturday in November and December at 10 am, the tourism board offers free
guided tours of the old city centre of Klagenfurt. Retrace the history of the city and discover the
beautiful inner courtyards, epochal monuments and historic buildings. The free guided tour takes 90
minutes. Meeting point: Neuer Platz, Tourist Information office.

The largest keyboard museum in Europe presents a special exhibition of extraordinary musical
instruments used to create some of the greatest hits and undying songs. "The most bizarre
instruments of pop music"; open daily from 2 to 7 pm (Saturday by appointment)

Museum of Modern Art, Burggasse 8
The Museum of Modern Art presents national and international artists in individual and themed
exhibitions on 1000 m² of modern exhibition space. In November and December, the museum hosts
an exhibition of artist Valentin Oman. The artist has created an impressive, comprehensive oeuvre
focusing on the human existence, being, mortality and transcendence. The retrospective covers
Valentin Oman's 50-year creative period. www.mmkk.at

Planetarium Klagenfurt, Villacherstrasse 239
October 2015 until March 2016: "Reach for the stars". The planetarium is proud owner of the most
modern Sky Scan projection system in 8K and presents the latest shows. With its 134 seats and a
dome spanning 12 metres, the planetarium is the perfect starting point for a discovery tour of outer
space. At Christmas (Friday to Sunday) the planetarium organises a Christmas Special for children.
Group events and presentations for schools can be organised from October to March; please contact

Happ's Reptile House, Villacherstrasse 237
Austria's biggest reptile zoo includes a palm house with mambas, cobras, king cobras and rattle
snakes. Various reptiles, such as crocodiles, turtles, snakes and insects feel at home in the rain forest

The "hands-on-" museum in the south of Klagenfurt offers hours of fun for people from six years of
age upwards. The interactive "Wirkungswechsel" exhibition (from the end of November 2015 to the
end of February 2016) is a travelling exhibition of the ScienceCenter Network. It explores various

Heraldic Hall at Landhaus, Landhaushof
Baroque painter Ferdinand Fromiller painted 665 coats of arms with artistry and Baroque opulence
and immortalised numerous sovereigns and noble families in the Heraldic Hall. The Prince's Stone,
one of the most important witnesses to the history of the country, is also exhibited in this impressive
and beautiful room. The Renaissance hall is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm;

Wörthersee Schifffahrt cruises, Friedelstrand 3
During Advent, WSG offers special Advent cruises (starting on 28 Nov. 2015). The Advent ship
debarks every Saturday and Sunday and on 8 December at 11.45 am and stops at the Christmas
