About us
For more than 500 years, the Hospitaller Order of St. John
of God (Barmherzige Brüder) has been dedicated to helping
the sick and needy in approximately 300 institutions around
the world.
Hospital of the Order of St.John of God Regensburg
The hospital in Regensburg was consecrated by Brother
Eustachius Kugler in 1929 and was the largest, most modern
institution at that time in Bavaria. Brother Kugler was beatified in 2009 for his service to others and his work during
difficult times.

The founder of the order, St. John of God, was a pioneer
of modern health care. His motto “the heart commands”
embodies the ideal of a holistic approach to treatment and
continues to be valid to this very day: our treatment planning
takes into consideration the wishes of the patients, their
physical and mental condition and their individual situations. Along with physicians and nurses, our work integrates
psychologists, spiritual advisors, physiotherapists, ergotherapists, music therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists and
pain therapists.
The Hospital of the Order of St. John of God Regensburg is
the largest Catholic hospital in Germany and is the teaching
hospital of the University of Regensburg. We serve patients
from the region of Eastern Bavaria and beyond at our two
locations in the Prüfeninger Straße and the St. Hedwig Clinic
for Children, Young Adults and Women.

DIN EN ISO, in conjunction with the ethical-Christian quality

Interdisciplinary cooperation
State-of-the-art research shows that we can only achieve the
best possible results for our patients in close interdisciplinary
cooperation. Therefore we have decided to concentrate the
knowledge and skills of our experts in specialised centres,
which are regularly reviewed by external auditors.
We conceive of our hospital as a place of healing, compassion and help for each and every one of our patients and
their relatives.
By car, from the A93 motorway take the exit Regensburg - Prüfening
and follow the signs to the clinics. Parking is available at the parking
