Kein Modell mit den Vier Ringen ist näher am Motorsport. Sein Marken
zeichen: der hoch drehende V10-Mittelmotor mit überlegener Leistung.
In der Topversion 449 kW (610 PS), von 0 auf 100 km/h in 3,2 Sekunden,
Topspeed 330 km/h. Entwickelt von den Motorenspezialisten am AudiStandort in Neckarsulm. „Der V10-Saugmotor hat einen extrem emotionalen
Klang. Man hört die Leistung und den Rennsport-Charakter“, bestätigt
Jürgen Königstedt, Leiter Entwicklung V-Otto-Motoren bei Audi. Schaltbare
Klappen am Schalldämpfer und eine optionale Sport-Abgasanlage machen
seinen Klang noch markanter.

No other model with the Four Rings is closer to motorsport. Its trademark: the
high-revving V10 mid-mounted engine with superior performance. The top ver

Mich faszinieren „Querthemen“ aus anderen Bereichen, das
verändert meinen Blick auf die Gesellschaft.

Sounddesigner Rudolf Halbmeir hat am Computer unzählige Klänge kompo
niert, geschnitten und gemischt. „Die Zündreihenfolge, die dem Verbrennungsmotor seinen Charakter gibt, haben wir bewusst nicht imitiert. Unser Ziel: einen ganz neuen Sound zu kreieren“, erklärt Halbmeir. „Ein
Sound, nach dem sich jeder umdrehen muss und denkt: Wow, was ist
das? Das hört sich gut an!“ Dafür ist die E-Maschine an eine syntheti
sche Klangerzeugung gekoppelt. Aus den permanent übermittelten In
formationen wie Drehzahl, Last, Geschwindigkeit und weitere Parame
ter generiert das Steuergerät den fauchenden e-Sound. Dieser ertönt
über robuste Lautsprecher am Fahrzeugboden. So bekommen auch
Fußgänger und Radfahrer rechtzeitig mit, dass sich der elektrische
Hochleistungssportwagen nähert. Der sportliche und dynamische
Klang ist dem R8 e-tron auf den Leib geschrieben. „Dieses Auto
hat einen unglaublichen Vortrieb, das spiegelt der Sound
wider“, so Halbmeir. In 3,9 Sekunden beschleunigt er von
0 auf 100 km/h.
Sound designer Rudolf Halbmeir has composed, edited and
mixed numerous sounds on the computer. “We deliberately
did not imitate the ignition sequence that gives the combustion engine its character. Our goal was to create a completely
new sound,” explains Halbmeir. “A sound that makes everyone turn around and think: Wow, what’s that? That sounds
good!” To achieve that goal, the electric motor is connected
with a synthetic-sound generator. From the information
that is permanently transferred such as revolutions, load,
speed and other parameters, the control unit generates
the growling electric sound, which is emitted by robust
loudspeakers in the vehicle’s floor. In this way, pedes
trians and cyclists are aware in good time that the elec
tric high-performance sports car is approaching. The
sporty and dynamic sound is just right for the R8
e-tron. “This car is incredibly powerful, and that is
reflected by its sound,” says Halbmeir. It acceler
ates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

part of society. I believe that a passion for searching for

We perceive a car with our senses – we see its design, feel its

Königstedt. „Zu sehen, was der Serienmotor im Rennsport erreicht, motiviert
das ganze Team.“ Die Abgasanlage des R8 LMS ist beispielsweise leichter und
der Schalldämpfer deutlich kleiner. Das spart Gewicht, fördert die Leistung und
kreiert unter anderem den R8 LMS Sound.
The racing car was developed and is built by Audi Sport customer racing. Its engine
is the same as the one used in the standard R8, a mid-mounted V10. The engine’s
hardware is almost unchanged for racing applications, but the special ignition sequence
produces a unique sound. “The entire team of series-engine engineers is proud of the
success of the GT-3 sports car, like the victory in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring
in 2015,” says Königstedt. “Being able to see what the series-version engine has
achieved in motorsport is great motivation for the whole team.” For example, the ex
haust system of the R8 LMS is lighter and the mufflers are significantly smaller. That
saves weight, boosts performance and creates the special R8 LMS sound.

wichtige Rolle für das Ökosystem spielt, wird
im Gespräch mit Dr. Franz Rueß von der
Staatlichen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für
Wein- und Obstbau Weinsberg (LVWO) klar:
Ganze 50 Prozent der Bestäubung von z. B.
Apfel-, Birnen-, Zwetschgen- und Kirsch
bäumen, von Erd-, Johannis- und Himbeeren
übernehmen die fleißigen Insekten. Noch
anschaulicher wird das am konkreten Beispiel:

Die Honigbiene hat es schwer. Etwa 30 Prozent der Völker
haben den vergangenen Winter in Deutschland nicht überlebt.
Weniger Bienen bedeuten weniger Bestäubung, weniger
Pflanzen und weniger Früchte. Bedenklich für die Region
Heilbronn-Franken, in der neben Automobilbau auch der
Obstbau ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor ist. Audi hat das
erkannt und gibt deshalb fünf Bienenvölkern auf dem Neckarsulmer Werkgelände ein neues Zuhause. Warum ist es so
wichtig, auch im Kleinen etwas für den Artenschutz zu tun?

Der langjährige Audianer und begeisterte
Hobbyimker ist der Initiator des Bienen
projekts auf dem Werkgelände. Entstanden
ist die Idee im Rahmen des Audi Ideen
programms. Denn Markus Zettl geht es nicht
nur um den Honig, sondern vor allem darum,
einen Beitrag zum Naturschutz in der Region
zu leisten. 25 Bienenvölker hat er bereits,
jetzt sind fünf davon auf das Werkgelände
von Audi umgesiedelt. Die besucht der Mit

ohne Schutzanzug, Imkerhaube oder Hand
schuhe nähert er sich den Bienenvölkern.
Besonnen und liebevoll geht er mit den
summenden Honigbienen um – und wird nur
sehr selten gestochen.
