• The interior architected is oriented on the furniture. he Swiss Heidi.com fashion brand was founded in the canton of Neuchâtel in 2004. To date, it was only possible to order the young fashion items on the internet. While other companies are increasingly expanding their virtual presence and their online shops, Heidi.com wants to use the concept “Retail of Tomorrow” to in future offer its customers real accessible shops. For this purpose, Zaha Hadid Architects designed a modular system with tables sliding into each other in three different heights, presentation elements, interactive displays and vertical elements called “totem poles”. The latter are equipped with a touchscreen allowing the customers to access the virtual world of Heidi.com. In combination with the white material, the language of form in an abstract way reminds of snow-covered mountain peaks and thus of the label’s origin. With Staron Solid Surfaces in Pure White by Samsung Chemical Europe, the architect chose a solid-surface material as the homogeneous material for all the elements. The material is thermoplastically malleable and therefore well suited for the curved forms. In addition, due to its qualities such as high durability, Staron Solid Surfaces can be used in public areas. In future, the newly developed elements are to be used for shop-in-shop systems as well as for flagship stores – Zaha Hadid Architects designed the first store with the new concept in an old fire station in Neuchâtel. www.heidi.com • www.staron.com • www.zaha-hadid.com AIT 1/2.2014 • 143
