products glass recovery New prospects in glass recycling At the REDWAVE Glass Recycling Day held on 26 September 2013 in Gleisdorf/Austria, the new “REDWAVE CX – REDWAVE CXF” 3-way sorting technology for waste glass processing was presented for the first time to international visitors and attendees. Operating principle of the REDWAVE CX and REDWAVE CXF Funktionsprinzip REDWAVE CX bzw. REDWAVE CXF 24 REDWAVE CX-CXF – the new three-way sorting technology Highlight at the event was the première of the new “REDWAVE CX” sorting machines for medium to coarse particles and “REDWAVE CXF” for fine particles which are equipped with a completely reworked 3-way system. With the rearrangement of the valves, even in the fine particle range of 2-12 mm this sorting efficiency can be achieved at the two ejects. In addition, the machines are equipped with high-performance valves and an optimized detection system to enable even higher sorting rates and less oversorting. In this way, separation of ceramic, stone and porcelain (CSP) and one colour can be performed in just one machine, even at higher rejection rates of up to 50-60 %. Glasaufbereitungsanlagen können so mit einer geringeren Anzahl products glass recovery Detection system and machine design The REDWAVE colour detection system can also be extended beyond the RGB range to neighbouring wavelengths. From the additionally collected information, a variety of special glasses can be detected and handled that have no distinguishing features in the RGB range. With the ejection from the rear or the front, the two lines of valves have the same distance to the recognition zone an Sortiermaschinen ausgelegt und folglich kompakter aufgebaut werden. The removal of lead-containing glass and glass ceramics is done with one machine and therefore the same delay. This new concept in combination with the quick-action valves in very close valve spacing and optimized ejection nozzles enables compact plant concepts with fewer sorting stages without any loss in quality or yield of the end-products. REDWAVE CX and CXF sorting machines can be used in the processing of container and float glass in the range 2-60 mm for the following sorting duties: • Removal of CSP (Ceramic, Stones, Porcelain) and metals • Colour sorting (flint, amber, green and other colours) recovery 6/2013 25 products glass recovery • S eparation of laminated glass, acrylic glass and plastics • Separation of a wide range of special glasses Demonstration of the sorting machine Demonstration der Sortiermaschine 26 Separation of other impurities (lead glass, glass ceramics and plastics) Another focus at the event was the demonstration of a range of sorting technologies for the removal of other impurities such as, for example, plastics, PVB, lead glass or glass ceramics from glass cullet. With the REDWAVE XRF (X-ray fluorescence) technology, the separation of lead glass and glass ceramics was presented. With the analysis of the feed material with regard to the elemental composition, irrespective of colour, lead-containing glass or glass ceramics can be clearly distinguished from conventional glass and removed. The removal of lead-containing glass and glass ceramics is done with one machine (sorting stage) and, if required, can be configured as a 3-way system. A relatively new technology in glass recycling is sorting with near-infrared sensors (NIR) for the removal of plastics from glass cullet. Eine relativ neue Technologie im Bereich des Glasre- products glass recovery NIR-G sorting machine, a machine was demonstrated that is used specifically for the removal of plastic that cannot be separated by means of extraction or other air-based systems. REDWAVE QMS – quality management for optimizing cullet quality and quantity To conclude, the REDWAVE QMS quality management system for optimization of the cullet quality and quantity was presented. With this system, the different machine states and sorting information are retrieved, evaluated and if any deviations from the set parameters are detected, messages and warnings are output for the operator. If, for example, an excessive content of ceramic is detected in the feed material, a warning is generated with the advice to check the function of the upstream sorting stage and sent to the operator. Another component of the quality management system is the automatic REDWAVE SAS sampling and sampling analysis unit. This unit is integrated into the plant and analyses the quality of the finished product. www.redwave.at/glassortierung cyclings ist die Sortierung mit Nahinfrarot-Sensoren (NIR) zur Abscheidung von Kunststoffen aus Glasscherben.
