Sportkarriere prägt in der unmittelbaren
Vorbereitung der Ausspruch »Let the
Games begin« das Denken und Handeln
von Teilnehmern und Zuschauern. Mögen
die Olympischen Winterspiele in der einzigartigen Natur und Kultur der kanadischen
Rocky Mountains nun endlich beginnen
und an große Traditionen anknüpfen.
Wenn die olympische Familie gut 20 Jahre
nach den Olympischen Winterspielen in
Calgary wieder nach Kanada zurückkehrt,
um in Vancouver ihr einzigartiges Fest des
Wintersports zu feiern, dann sind in erster
Linie Bilder aus dem Jahre 1988 präsent.
Kurz vor dem Fall der Mauer waren es die
Nordischen Kombinierer, Marina Kiehl,
Katarina Witt, Frank-Peter Rötsch oder
Uwe-Jens Mey, die Goldmedaillen für
Deutschland erkämpften; Matti Nykänen,
