Eine besondere Herausforderung haben die Lingl-Techniker bei der Modernisierung des Ziegelwerks Janinhoff in Münster-Hiltrup gemeistert. Obwohl die räumlichen Möglichkeiten am Standort des Unternehmens
voll ausgeschöpft waren, integrierte Lingl innerhalb
eines Jahres von der Trockenseite bis zur Entladeanlage neueste Technik – eine Alternative zum völligen
Neubau eines Ziegelwerks, jedoch ohne Kompromisse.
The technicians of Lingl mastered a particular challenge
when upgrading the Janinhoff brickworks at MünsterHiltrup. Although the spatial possibilities were fully
utilized at the company’s location, within one year
Lingl integrated the latest technology from the dry
side through to the unloading installation – an alternative to building a completely new brick plant, but without any compromises.
1 Einleitung
Die 1907 gegründeten Janinhoff Ziegelwerke produzieren
bereits in der dritten Generation im westfälischen MünsterHiltrup Ziegel und Klinker, Pflaster-, Modul- und Verblendsteine. Ca. 20 Mio. NF-Ziegel verlassen jährlich den Ofen, die
Produktion läuft an sieben Tagen in der Woche im Einschichtbetrieb. Mit mehr als 300 Sorten ist das Produktprogramm
von Janinhoff außergewöhnlich vielfältig: So sind alle Ziegel
mit unterschiedlichen Oberflächenstrukturen erhältlich, in
jeder gewünschten Farbe, auch als Mischsortierung, in jedem Format sowie auch glasiert. Auf diese nahezu unbegrenzten Möglichkeiten der Janinhoff Ziegelwerke greifen
namhafte Architekten bei der Fassadengestaltung gerne zurück. Beispiele sind unter anderem das Nolde-Museum in
Niebüll, das Museum MARTa in Herford und der Neue Zollhof am Düsseldorfer Rheinhafen, ein spektakuläres Kunstund Medienzentrum des kalifornischen Architekten Frank O.
Gehry.
1 Introduction
Founded in 1907 and now being run already by the third
generation, the Janinhoff brickworks produce bricks and
clinkers, pavers, modular and facing bricks at MünsterHiltrup in Westphalia. About 20 million standard size bricks
leave the kiln each year, with production running seven days
per week in a one shift operation. With more than 300 types
the product range of Janinhoff is unusually varied: all bricks
are available with different surface structures, in any desired
colour, even as a mixed assortment, in any size as well as
glazed. Well-known architects like to make use of the almost
unlimited variety of the Janinhoff products when designing
façades. Examples include the Nolde Museum at Niebüll, the
museum MARTa in Herford and Neuer Zollhof at the Rhine
port in Düsseldorf, a spectacular art and media centre of the
Californian architect Frank O. Gehry.
2 Modernisierung der Ziegelproduktion
Verfahrenstechnisches Know-how, Wirtschaftlichkeit und
Betriebssicherheit sowie hohes Qualitätsbewusstsein waren
die Argumente, weshalb Lingl im September 2006 mit der
Modernisierung der Ziegelproduktion von Janinhoff beauftragt wurde. Die Vorgaben waren:

2.1 Setzanlage
Höchste Flexibilität gewährleistet die speziell für Janinhoff
ausgerichtete Setzanlage, die dennoch verblüffend einfach
aufgebaut ist. Eine neuartige Kipp- und eine Face-Einrichtung ermöglichen liegende und stehende Besätze und gewährleisten einen produktschonenden Transport der Formlinge. Die Lingl-Setzanlage bietet alle Voraussetzungen, auch
ausgefallene Kundenwünsche bei der Farbgebung der gebrannten Ziegel zu erfüllen.
2.2 Tunnelofen
Hightech zeichnet den Tunnelofen aus. Neben dem üblichen
oxidierenden Brand ist auch das „Flashen“ möglich – eine
intermittierende Reduktion mittels Reduktionsbypass und
CO/CO2-Messstation. Eine Seiten- und zwei Deckenbrennergruppen sorgen in der Aufheizzone für die optimale Mischung der Gase, sodass ein enges Temperaturband erreicht
wird. Im Garbrandbereich von bis zu 1 250 °C sind 13 Deckenbrennergruppen angeordnet, wobei die letzten beiden
Brennzonen mit Reduktionseinrichtungen ausgerüstet sind.
Gesteuert wird die Ofenanlage über das Lingl-WinCCSystem, dessen benutzerorientierte Bedienoberfläche für jeden Bediener individuell konfiguriert werden kann.
2.3 Entladen
Nach dem Brand werden die Brennpakete mit einem Paketgreifer vom Tunnelofenwagen abgehoben und auf der Entladelinie
abgestellt. Zwei Roboter entstapeln nun Lage für Lage die Pakete, nachfolgende Entface- und Kippeinrichtungen gewährleisten eine schonende Bereitstellung zur Qualitätskontrolle.
Die Entladeeinrichtung ist so abgestimmt, dass eine optimierte
Durchmischung der Lagen im Versandpaket erreicht wird; dies
erleichtert die spätere Verlegung der Ziegel enorm.
Ein zusätzlicher Sauggreifer im Roboterarm legt beim Stapeln auf Paletten Zwischenlagenpapier ein, sodass die wertvollen Produkte optimal vor Beschädigungen geschützt sind.
3 Fazit
Nach der erfolgreich abgeschlossenen Modernisierung des
Ziegelwerks im September 2007 verfügt Janinhoff über eine
der modernsten Produktionsanlagen ihrer Art in Europa. Der
hohe Qualitätsanspruch, der einer 100-jährigen handwerklichen Tradition entstammt, kann so noch besser erfüllt werden. Schließlich lautet das Motto der Janinhoff Ziegelwerke:
„Alles andere ist nur Fassade“.

2.1 Setting installation
The setting installation designed for the special demands of
Janinhoff ensures utmost flexibility although the design is of
striking simplicity. An innovative tilting and facing device allows horizontal and upright settings and guarantees gentle
transport of the green products. The Lingl setting plant offers all preconditions to meet even unusual demands of the
customer with regard to the colouring of the fired bricks.
2.2 Tunnel kiln
The tunnel kiln is characterized by high tech of Lingl. In addition to the standard oxidizing firing, “flashing” is also possible – an intermittent reduction by means of a reduction
bypass and CO/CO2 gauging station. One lateral and two
top burner groups provide for the optimal mixture of the
gases in the heating-up zone so that a narrow temperature
band is reached. 13 top burner groups are arranged in the
finish firing range of up to 1 250° C, whereby the last two
firing zones are equipped with reduction devices.
The kiln installation is controlled by the Lingl WinCC system, of which the user-oriented operator interface can be
configured individually for each operator.
2.3 Unloading
After firing the firing packs are lifted off from the tunnel kiln
car by a pack gripper and set down on the unloading line.
The packs are then dehacked layer by layer by two robots.
The downstream defacing and tilting devices ensure gentle
handling of the products for quality control. The unloading
installation was designed to ensure optimal mixing of the
layers in the transport pack, an aspect which will facilitate
the later laying of the bricks enormously.
An additional suction gripper in the robot arm inserts intermediate layers of paper during the stacking on pallets, so
that the valuable products are optimally protected against
damage.
3 Conclusion
After the successful completion of the upgrading of the
brickworks in September 2007, Janinhoff now possesses one
of the most modern production plants of its type in Europe.
This makes it easy to better comply with the high quality
standard emanating from workmanship with a fine tradition
dating back 100 years. After all, the motto of the Janinhoff
brickworks is “Everything else is just a façade”.
