With over 100 colours now available, DuPont™ Corian® can fit in with any colour scheme or style of décor – from classic whites or pastel shades to ultra-modern, dramatic brights, textured or shimmering hues. If the colour desired is not available, Corian® also offers a custom colour service. DuPont™ Corian® has a unique translucency which gives the material an extra dimension when light is added, and makes it an ideal choice for lighting designs. The colour palette includes also six colours providing enhanced translucency. DuPont™ Corian® looks great alone or when combined with other materials such as natural wood, stone, glass or stainless steel. DuPont™ Corian® withstands a lot of wear and tear - even the heavy abuse received in high traffic commercial environments. Where scratches and cuts do occur, these are easily removable, while more serious damage can generally be repaired on-site with the minimum of inconvenience. Non-porous and joined with inconspicuous seams, DuPont™ Corian® is very hygienic and easy to clean. Its hygienic performances, superior to those of many conventional materials, have been certified also by German LGA QualiTest GmbH independent organization. The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute has designated DuPont™ Corian® solid surfaces, as well as their related sealants and adhesives from DuPont, as “GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®”. The GREENGUARD certification ensures that DuPont™ Corian® comply with strict emission criteria for indoor air quality. DuPont™ Corian® has also received the GREENGUARD for Children & Schools Certification(SM), a separate product standard for lowemitting interior building materials, furnishings and finish systems used in educational environments. Amanda Levete A seminal influence in the world of architecture and design, Amanda Levete has spent her career exploring the transformative potential of space through a number of remarkable buildings and furniture pieces. Her interest lies in the physical and metaphysical, the organic and the man-made – working with diametrically opposed elements to create the unexpected. She is widely acclaimed for her ability to bring visionary projects to fruition and for realizing the ambitions of private and public sector clients. Considered one of Britain's most accomplished architects, Levete has received a number of internationally prestigious commissions, including the media campus for News International in East London and a major new hotel and retail development in Bangkok for Central Retail Corporation. She has forged long-term relationships with artists - a joint project with Anish Kapoor for the Naples Subway is now on site. Amanda Levete's individual furniture pieces for Established & Sons have been called sublime, pushing materials and design to their limits. Through this relationship she has produced a number of iconic pieces including the Drift bench and the Around the Corner pieces - each carved into a form by an advanced software program and then worked by hand. Levete trained at the Architectural Association and worked for Richard Rogers before joining Future Systems as a partner in 1989. She is visiting professor at the Royal College of Art and a trustee of Artangel. Levete is a regular TV and radio broadcaster and she writes a column for Building magazine. The formation of Amanda Levete_Architects in 2009 follows the end of Levete's 20 year partnership with the late Jan Kaplicky at the influential office of Future Systems. One of the most innovative practices of its time, Future Systems completed award winning and internationally recognized buildings including Selfridges department store in Birmingham and the media centre at Lord's cricket ground which won the prestigious Stirling Prize. Amanda Levete_Architects (AL_A) www.amandalevetearchitects.com Award-winning architect Amanda Levete, together with directors Alvin Huang, Kwamina Monney and Ho-Yin Ng has formed Amanda Levete_Architects on a strong foundation of established and new projects with a reputation for work of originality and integrity. The ethos of the office is rooted in design research and a commitment to exploring the transformative potential of space. Developments in digital fabrication have allowed the office to challenge conventional notions of form and space alongside the continued value placed on hand-drawings and hand-crafted models. Amanda Levete_Architects’ talented multi-national team of architects, designers, graphics specialists and engineers works at the intersection of design, technology and materiality. Their collaborative approach to the design process extends clients’ ambitions for their projects and produces groundbreaking work. The office's portfolio includes the redevelopment of media giant News International’s headquarters in east London to create a campus for its UK operations housing the Times, Sunday Times, News of the World and the Sun newspapers, Dow Jones, Harper Collins, MySpace and 20th Century Fox. In Thailand Amanda Levete_Architects has been commissioned to design a resort and a collection of villas for private investors and in Bangkok a 1.5 million sq ft hotel and retail development for Central Retail Corporation. It recently won a competition for developer Londonewcastle to design a complex mixed-use development in East London on the basis of an innovative analysis of the urban context. Planning consents have also been granted for a house in Dublin and the remodeling of a Listed building in Knightsbridge London. The office has several projects currently under construction including Spencer Dock Bridge in Dublin, a subway station in Naples in collaboration with artist Anish Kapoor, as well as offices in Oxford Street, London and a City Academy in Southwark. As an extension of its design research agenda, the office uses the design of furniture and objects to explore architectural ideas and test material possibilities at a smaller, more intimate scale and collaborates with materials manufacturers to push the boundaries of their fabrication techniques. Amanda Levete has a long-standing relationship with Established & Sons to design furniture, including the iconic Drift bench. The “CORIAN® super-surfaces” lounge installation by Amanda Levete_Architects will be showcased during Milan Design Fair in April 2009. The formation of the new office follows the end of Levete's 20 year partnership with the late Jan Kaplicky at the influential Future Systems. One of the most innovative practices of its time, Future Systems completed award winning and internationally recognized buildings including Selfridges department store in Birmingham and the media centre at Lord's cricket ground which won the prestigious Stirling Prize. Isometrix Lighting + Design www.isometrix.co.uk The Philosophy “Architecture,“ wrote Le Corbusier, “is the correct and masterly play of masses brought together in light.” Light, whether natural or artificial, generated by the sun or electricity is an integral part of architecture. The way a building works, the way it feels and the way it looks has as much to do with the way it is lit as the way it is planned, engineered, built, decorated and furnished. The lighting designer’s job is to help architects and interior designers create the optimum lighting conditions for buildings and interiors. Working from the inception of a project and collaborating at all stages of the design and construction process, the lighting designer fine-tunes a building’s environment, painting in light to create efficient, focused and beautiful spaces. The Company Isometrix Lighting + Design was set up by Arnold Chan, an architect trained at the Architectural Association, in 1984. Its architectural approach to lighting design - visualising in three dimensions and creating a hierarchy of light effects to enhance the spatial flow of buildings and their interiors distinguishes Isometrix from the work of traditional lighting engineers. Lighting is never an afterthought introduced to solve a problem emerging at the end of a project, but a fundamental part of a three-dimensional design process, which ultimately provides a building with its unique and special identity. Isometrix Lighting + Design has worked with architects and designers with very differing stylistic approaches. It does not have a house-style of its own, but aims to bring out the best in any design whether overtly rational and purist or symbolic and theatrical. It utilises equipment at the forefront of lighting technology working with the leading manufacturers in specific areas of expertise and designing or adapting equipment to the exacting requirements of each particular project. This technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the marketplace benefits clients in achieving costeffective solutions to all their projects. Location and resource Isometrix Lighting + Design has studio’s in London, with 40 members of staff and Hong Kong, with 20 members of staff. The studio has also a representation office in New York. Arnold Chan Founded Isometrix Lighting + Design in 1986 to deliver specialised, client-related and project specific lighting designs. This individual approach is still unique in the industry and has proven highly successful – with Isometrix now numbering over 35 full time project designers, lighting and product designers with significant quantities of high profile clients continuing to return to Isometrix for additional projects. The work of the molo studio balances between the realms of art, architecture and design for serial production. molo creates unique designs in a variety of scales, from tea set to museum, for clients around the world. The designs of molo products grow from Stephanie Forsythe + Todd MacAllen’s architectural explorations. They are inspired by the idea that smaller tactile objects and elements have a real potency in the physical experience of a space. Forsythe + MacAllen work back and forth between the intimate scale of furniture and small utilitarian objects, to the larger scale of buildings and landscapes. Working at a furniture scale heightens the sense of human scale and physical experience in architecture. Conversely, furniture and product design benefits from the perspective of thinking in the larger context of place and space making. Hands-on making has always been fundamental to Forsythe + MacAllen’s design process, and is an integral part of their ongoing exploration. Ideas pass from mind to hands to material and back again; ingraining a tactile sense of materiality, construction, space and experience. molo’s design process has developed to include experimentation with factory production, working in close collaboration with manufacturers. This way of working is leading to happy accidents and discoveries that inspire design improvisation and original thinking. molo’s award winning soft collection of flexible walls, building blocks, seating and lighting exemplifies their exploration of production processes and experiential space making. Recognized for poetic beauty and pragmatic innovation, softwall and softseating have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York for their permanent collection. In 2005, molo and the soft concepts were selected as a winner of the Danish INDEX Award, for design to improve life. The soft collection is continually evolving with new products and possibilities. molo was formed in 2003, when Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen partnered with long time friend, Robert Pasut. Pasut brings an understanding of international business and a rigorous analytical perspective to the design of molo as a business. Forsythe + MacAllen began working together in 1994 at Architecture school. Constructing a number of houses and smaller scale objects, Forsythe + MacAllen won several international competitions for design projects and conceptual ideas which have become the foundation for the molo studio. molo is now a collaborative design and production studio of 18 people working in a variety of roles in architecture, design, materials research, product development, production, graphics, business administration and sales. In addition, molo has an extended family of specialized manufacturers that they continuously work with in a beautiful endeavor to bring imagination to fruition. Esarc Hi-Tech www.esarc.com Acoustic diffusion is a process of physics that has no visible connection to matter, so why still use visible objects for the reproduction of sound – objects that may be heavy, bulky and difficult to install? Esarc Hi-Tech proposes a new and invisible system to create sound, a system that allows you to experience and enjoy the elegance and efficiency of invisible audio that originates directly from the walls. It is hard to imagine and even harder to describe – it is easier to experience the sound by living it first hand! The SAI products that provide this acoustic experience are developed for installations in plaster, wood, DuPont™ Corian® and glass. Panelled ceilings, partition walls, commercial window displays, residential windows and furnishings are the most suitable subjects to be transformed into "animated" elements that become "generators of sound emotions". Esarc Hi-Tech has consolidated its presence in the Italian and international markets with prestigious invisible audio installations. Significant installations have been made for vast special areas of the Triennale di Milano, La Rinascente in Piazza Duomo in Milan, others in Dubai (EAU), Lugano, London, Paris and Barcelona.
