Readings This Week
We will have an open meeting format today.
Bring an idea, scripture, poem or art that you
would like to discuss. There will be no class May
26 as it is a holiday weekend.
The Journey
Begins...
Acts 2:1-21
Romans 8:14-17
John 14:8-17 (25-27)
During the next several weeks the Museum
of Fine Arts Houston, will be exhibiting one of the most significant objects to
have survived from the ancient world. The
Cyrus Cylinder was inscribed on the orders
of King Cyrus of Persia after he had conquered the key city-state Babylon. Often referred to as the first known bill of human
rights due to its’ apparent endorsement of
religious freedom throughout the vast Persian Empire, as well as its’ directive to allow
deported people to return to their homelands, the words inscribed on this object
were decisive in bringing about the end of
the Babylonian Exile of the Jewish people
and their return to, and rebuilding of, the
Temple at Jerusalem.
Join The Reverend Michael Roeske and
Brother Edward Silva as they lead a series
of Wednesday evening classes prior to the
June 8 mini-retreat to view this exhibit.
The class dates are Wednesday evenings,
May 22, May 29, and June 5, 7:00 PM- 8:15
PM in the Masterson room.
On Saturday, June 8, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM,
Brother Kenneth Hosley, will instruct one
additional class and host our excursion as
we then depart from Trinity Church to see
this exhibit. We hope you will consider
joining us on this unique journey. This exhibit is only appearing in three other cities
within the United States, making it a rare
opportunity to experience the history of
the ancient world.
