Artist Francesco Joao Scavarda (*1987, Milan) was raised between the North of Brazil and northern Italy, thus always confronted with an extreme diversity of situations, values and cultural references, which enabled him to address, without creating antagonisms, aspects that reflect the global, that cross borders and that merge in world cultural values. Uma importante referência para o artista sobre a questão da verticalidade é o livro Delirious New York, no qual o arquiteto Rem Koolhaas aborda a natureza “vertical” da cidade, explicando que a ideia de verticalidade não se refere apenas à arquitetura e estrutura urbana, mas também à sobreposição de serviços e à estratificação cultural. Esse conceito influencia fortemente a contemporaneidade e a forma contemporânea de pensar, de forma que atualmente, afirma Scavarda, “o trabalhador pode se tornar o Presidente, o rapper pode ser o produtor, o artista pode ser o galerista, a mãe pode ser o gerente da empresa, etc. etc”. Tudo é familiar, de fácil acesso, agradando a todos por ser compreensível, e ao mesmo tempo refletindo sobre o quão raso e vazio é o magma das imagens globalizadas.
