GUIDE FOR SENDING AND RETURNING OF INTERNATIONAL SAMPLES
The sending of international samples to ICBr and also the returning of these samples
abroad may be done by two ways :
1. Via Courier (DHL, Fedex, UPS, TNT and others)
2. Via formal Import/Export process, using process of Temporary Admission or
nationalization (when there is no return of sample to the origin)
Remark : If this procedure steps will not be followed, there’s a risk of penalties to the Consignee:
(I) sample arrest and or (II) fine to be paid by Customer and therefore, delays on import process
and also on process of product certification.
These two ways of sending and return of samples will be detailed as follows:
1.1 – Samples sending via Courier
- Orientation
The Customer may be sending its samples via Courier to your representative in
Brazil or directly to Instituto de Certificações Brasileiro S/A ( CERTLAB)
The goods value plus the international freight can not exceed US$ 3.000,00
(therefore the total value of goods + international freight must be less than US$
3.000,00)
Weight Limit : till 68 Kg
Dimensions : 330 cm, is the sum of dimensions : length + height + depth < 330 cm
Courier Form Sending Option : DDP (Duties and Delivery Paid). Please make sure this
options was choosen.
Only two (02) samples of each model can be sent
The samples must be sent with a Commercial Invoice (see model attached)
Only NEW samples should be shipped via Courier – used equipment can not be
shipped - Destination address via Courier : of the Customer Representative or :

Samples to CertLab
1.2 – Return of samples via Courier
- Orientation
After test fulfilment by ICBr, the customer may choose by :
A) Return to the origin
B) Permanence in Brazil
C) Samples disposable
A) Return to the origin
When the customer choose by the samples return of imported goods via Courier, the return
must be done also via courier.
According to Brazilian Customs, when there is a sample return via Courier it’s need the issuance
of Invoice (Nota Fiscal) with the goods. Since ICBr is a service supply local company, he does not
issue this kind of invoice required by Brazilian Customs, and if the customer does not have your
trading, we indicate Linktrade, our partner. All return costs should be agreed directly to a
chosen Trading of Customer.

B) Permanence in Brazil
In case of option of sample stay in Brazil, ICBr will adopt its procedure to send the samples to
representative/local office
C) Samples disposable/destruction
The Certlab of ICBr will provide the disposable/destruction according to its internal
procedure.

2. Send and return of samples via formal import/export process:
To deliver or to return the samples via formal import/export process, the consignee need a license
from Brazilian Customs called RADAR (Customs and Aduana Tracking)
The customer may do its import and export process using your own RADAR or his representative in
Brazil RADAR, and may be contract your own trading or Linktrade already indicated by us, keeping
in mind that all costs should be agreed and paid directly to the chosen trading by customer.
There are two kinds of formal Import and Export process :
Nationalization
Temporary Admission
Remark : wherever may be the formal import process chosen by the customer, the referred
documentation should be sent to the responsible Trading before the samples shipment, and all
expenses regarding the import/export process are customers responsabilities.
2.1 Nationalization
In this kind of import/export process there is no limit of equipment value, neither weight or
dimensions limits. In this kind of Import/Export process all expenses must be paid directly to the
chosen Trading by customer, for example, the Trading fee, International freight, warehouse
expenses, import and export duties and others.
After the Tests are finished by ICBr (CertLab) the samples may be disposable or may be delivered to
a representative of customer in Brazil. In both cases all costs will be customer responsabilities and
involved values will be informed case by case.
2.2 Temporary Admission
The equipments may stay in Brazil for testing for a maximum period of one (01) year.
There is no limit of equipment value , neither weight limit, nor dimensions limits
All expenses must be paid directly to a chosen trading by customer, for example, Trading fee, international
freight, warehouse expenses and others.
The import duties will be hold during the tests period and there’s no need of payment if the customer
choose by equipment returning to the origin, after the tests fulfilment.
After conclusion of tests by ICBr, if the customer chose by equipment to stay in Brazil, the duties must be
paid, besides the import expenses above mentioned. In both cases, all costs will be customer responsabilities
and involved values will be informed case by case.

In all samples shipments to ICBr, done by Courier or formal Import/Export process, we kindly ask to send us
the shipping documents previously to the shipment, with also the chosen Trading by the customer. This
procedure will help and guide our customers to make shipments according to the Brazilian Laws without
waste of time, fines and concerns.
