Discover the Azores
All the nine islands of the Azores Archipelago are volcanic origin and are located in the North Atlantic,
scattered along a 600 km stretch of ocean from Santa Maria to Corvo, approximately between 37° and 40° north
latitude and 25° and 31° west longitude. According to 2011 data, 246,772 people live in this island territory that
covers 2,325 sq.km, distancing 1,600 km from mainland Europe (Portugal) and 2,454 km from the North American
continent (Canada).

The islands of the archipelago are divided in three geographical groups: the Eastern Group, comprising
Santa Maria and São Miguel, the Central Group, including Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial, and the
Western Group, composed by Corvo and Flores. The Azores, along with the archipelagos of Madeira, Canary
Islands and Cape Verde, constitute the biogeographic region of Macaronesia, a name which means "fortunate
islands" for those who live there and visit them.
Goal of the AZORES GeoTour
The main goal of the AZORES GeoTour is that each geocacher can get to know the largest number of
islands possible, getting to know a little better this archipelago "surrounded by nature on all sides."
How to participate
To participate the geocacher should:
• Find all the geocaches in this "passport" and sign the loogbook (or sending e-mail in case of EarthCaches);
• Make the online log of the geocaches at www.Geocaching.com.

Terms and conditions:
• This GeoTour is composed of 150 geocaches and 21 joker geocaches. The joker geocaches are optional and they
can replace any geocache from the island to which they belong that, for some reason, can not be found;
• Each geocacher/team of geocachers can only participate in this GeoTour once;
• The elements of the GeoTour organization team can't claim the prizes, but they can complete geotour for the
badge;
• This GeoTour will be available for 1 (one) year from the date of its release, renewable or not, for the same periods;
• The organization of this GeoTour and the São Miguel Tourism Delegation only guarantee the prizes, while
available.

the geocaches GeoTour Azores (75 geocaches at least), regardless of the island.
To claim your prize, you must make the online registration of geocaches and then fill in the form available at:
www.geotourazores.pt. After validation, the prize will be sent to your address or you will be contacted to
indicate how to receive it.

Descubra os Açores
As nove ilhas do Arquipélago dos Açores são todas de origem vulcânica e encontram-se em pleno
Atlântico Norte, dispersas ao longo de uma faixa com cerca de 600 km de extensão de Santa Maria ao Corvo e

As ilhas do arquipélago foram divididas em três grupos geográficos: o Grupo Oriental, composto por Santa
Maria e São Miguel, o Grupo Central integra as ilhas Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico e Faial, e o Grupo Ocidental
constituído pelas ilhas Corvo e Flores. Os Açores, juntamente com os arquipélagos da Madeira, Canárias e Cabo
Verde definem a região biogeográfica da Macaronésia, designação que significa “ilhas afortunadas”, para quem as
habita e quem as visita.
Objetivo da geotour AZORES
O objetivo principal da geotour AZORES é que cada geocacher participante consiga conhecer o maior
número de ilhas, que lhe for possível, ficando assim a conhecer um pouco melhor este arquipélago “rodeado de
natureza por todos os lados”.
Como Participar
Para participar o geocacher deverá:
• Realizar as geocaches constantes deste “passaporte” efetuando o registo no logbook de cada geocache (ou
enviando email no caso das Earthcaches);
• Efetuar o registo online das geocaches no site www.geocaching.com.

Termos e Condições
• Esta geotour é composta por 150 geocaches e 21 geocaches joker. As geocaches joker são opcionais e
substituem qualquer uma da ilha a que pertencem que, por alguma razão, não seja possível encontrar;
• Os elementos da equipa de organização da GeoTour não podem reclamar os prémios, mas podem completar a
geotour para efeitos da badge;
• Cada geocacher/team de geocachers só poderá participar na GeoTour uma única vez;
• Esta geotour tem o prazo de vigência de 1 (um) ano a partir da data do seu lançamento, renovável, ou não, por
períodos idênticos;
• A organização desta GeoTour e a Direção Regional de Turismo só garantem a entrega dos prémios, enquanto
disponíveis.
